Apparently, Bloomberg will be broadcasting it.

He probably lost the access codes to some top-secret briefcase while distracted by the morning paper on the rooftop, and now everyone is scrambling to find them. 😲 🤣

It would be such a relief if he just announced a full withdrawal from Ukraine.

But let's be real—I'm mostly expecting a wave of threats directed at Ukraine, then NATO, and honestly, everyone else too...
At this point, I'm just not sure what else there is to say...

You guys have spent way too many pages and threads obsessing over nuclear retaliation, which honestly doesn't even reflect what's happening on the ground right now...

If Russia decides to escalate their military operations in Ukraine—beyond just throwing more boots on the ground—it’ll likely focus on crippling critical infrastructure. We're talking power grids, water supplies, bridges, railways, tunnels, viaducts, transit hubs... basically everything that keeps a society running. They'll probably lean heavily on strategic aviation, too. It’s a playbook we saw when the US hit Iraq or America...

It seems to me they're scrambling to build a legal framework to justify ramping up military aid against Russian forces in Ukraine. That's why there's this sudden rush to hold referendums and get everything tied up in legal knots. You have to remember, the Russian president is a lawyer by training...

And looking at the recent movements from both the Ukrainian and Russian militaries, along with all these shifting tactical wins and losses, I just don't see how the soldiers or the civilians in those devastated zones are supposed to settle in without basic utilities. Neither the Russians nor the Ukrainians can really focus on rebuilding vital energy infrastructure while the fighting is still actively going on...

Does Russia actually need a "legal framework" for this? A country that launched an invasion, committed massive atrocities, destroys civilian structures, and kills both civilians and POWs... they think they need a legal framework?🤔

Let’s take a quick trip down memory lane to what Putko was saying back in 2014 right after the annexation of Crimea.

"Vladimir Putin in 2014: Don’t believe those who try to frighten you with Russia and who scream that other regions will follow after Crimea. We do not want a partition of Ukraine, we do not need this."

Zelenskyy speaks tomorrow.

Macron just stated that negotiations are impossible unless Ukraine's sovereignty is recognized.

Honestly, you don't even have to dig that deep because back in the spring they were all insisting their goal wasn't actually about annexing Ukrainian territory☕

At my job, we have this perfect little mantra that captures the true Russian state-of-mind: "don't trust the user, even when they're telling the truth"🙂

Honestly, I think they’re totally misreading the room over in the West if they believe these fake referendums and forced annexations—or even the threat of mobilization—are going to make the West back down.

Ever since this whole war kicked off, it's just been one bad assumption after another. If anything, you should actually expect the West to ramp up military aid if they pull moves like that.

If the West doesn't go full 100% sanctions mode after that, they never will.
Total shutdown of all trade, goods, money...
Every single diplomat sent home, every last one, and any Russians without residency status kicked out too.

I really hope this is just a glitch in the system since the old man is taking forever to reply, rather than some kind of massive diarrhea session that lasts for hours.

What people actually tend to overlook is that the West hasn't even dropped the "nuclear option" yet—I'm talking about secondary sanctions, where you penalize any country or corporation that does business with Russia.

It basically forces an "us or them" ultimatum.
For instance, it’s been flying under the radar, but Turkish banks have already stopped accepting Russian Visa cards and processing those payments today.

Also, while China might find this mutual exhaustion somewhat convenient, we can't forget that this annexation is going to be a huge litmus test for them. They've claimed to support Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders, so this will show the world how much weight a Chinese promise actually carries. Personally, I doubt Xiju cares much about losing face in international relations if it helps them climb toward that number one spot on the global stage.

TAZ Editor: Putin is trolling the entire planet
One of the editors over at the American TAZ, Dominic Johnson, has this pretty wild theory about Putin's big speech that’s already running over an hour and a half late.

"Putin promised to address the nation, but he hasn't even started yet, and while everyone is just sitting there waiting, the whole world's eyes are glued to Moscow instead of paying any attention to the United Nations General Assembly, which Putin wasn't even allowed to attend. It's high-level trolling," Johnson posted.

Btw we can actually watch this live here:

This is gonna be such an interesting night 🙂

EDIT:

Man, I'm such an idiot, it's already finished 🤣 🤦
