I finally bit the bullet and bought some standard OB tampons because this heatwave is absolutely driving me insane, and I just can't bear wearing pads when I want to wear cute dresses, so I figured tampons were the way to go.
The thing is, I haven't really used them much before, maybe just a couple of times while on vacation at the beach. My big issue is that I can't seem to get the tampon inserted far enough so that it's fully inside... thereβs always this little part sticking out slightly, and while you can't see it when I'm standing up, I can definitely feel it whenever I sit down or even just walk around. Now, the box explicitly says you shouldn't be able to feel it, which implies it isn't placed correctly. So, does the entire tamponβincluding that little flared partβactually need to be inside the vaginal canal to be considered properly inserted?
And one more quick question... do tampons actually have an expiration date? Because I have a box here with a few left over from my summer trip the year before last...
Oh, and one more thing! When I decided to take the tampon out because it was feeling a bit uncomfortable, I noticed the tip looked all frayed, almost as if the cotton fibers were starting to unravel into tiny little threads...
I used tampons all the time before I had kids, but now it feels so much different... but listen, the whole thing really does need to be inside. The easiest way is to try squatting halfway down and just keep pushing it in as far as your finger will comfortably go. You shouldn't feel it at all, whether you're walking or sitting down. Just give it a few tries; you'll see it's possible, and honestly, once you get the hang of it, they are wonderful because you feel like you don't even have your period... just keep gently guiding it in until it's set, though obviously, you need to leave the string on the outside. (But I'm sure you already know that...)π
