If you ever spot some Tampax, definitely grab a pack. I’ve tried just about every brand under the sun while traveling, but I have to be completely honest—OB is hands down the worst I've ever used. They are stiff, lack flexibility, and are just plain uncomfortable to wear; and it's not like I'm a novice or anything. I've been using tampons for nearly 15 years, but next time I head out on a trip across the US, I'm making sure to pack my own Tampax.

I know I’m about 5 or 7 years late to the party here (basically serving a life sentence for being this slow xd), but man, reading through this thread just sent me. I actually laughed so hard my mom had to pop her head in the room to make sure I hadn't passed out or something—which would be hilarious if I were still fifteen, right? hehe
Anyway, seriously though, huge props to everyone here. This whole topic is such a blast and honestly pretty funny.

Yeah, you can find Tampax everywhere—at Walmart, Cosmo, and Kroger. Honestly, I’m kind of obsessed with Tampax right now!

Hey everyone, I’m honestly feeling a little awkward even bringing this up because I don't want to sound pathetic, but I really need some input here...
Has anyone else ever had the string on their tampon snap?
Basically, I inserted a Tampax, but when I went to pull it out later, there was absolutely nothing there—no string, no tampon, nothing. Is it actually possible for it to just slip up inside me like that?!
I know the vaginal canal is only about 10cm deep and a tampon can't just wander off into your body, and I figured if I used my fingers to check, I should be able to feel it, right?

A tampon doesn't just slip out of nowhere without you noticing.

The instructions on the box literally tell you what to do if the string snaps. If you can't manage to fish it out yourself, you're going to have to head to a doctor to have them pull it out.

Pro tip for next time: give that string a good, hard tug before you even think about inserting it, just to make sure it’s actually secure.

Since the string clearly gave out on you, maybe try squatting down and using your fingers to see if you can reach it. If that doesn't work, listen to melloworca6 and just head straight to the doctor.

I mean, I think Tampax works great for me, but honestly, those hours really get under my skin. 😕 I can't help but worry about what might happen if one stays in for longer than three or four hours... it feels like such a tiny window of time, and I feel like I’m constantly checking my watch whenever I have one in 😕. That’s actually why I don't go the tampon route all the time; I just can't deal with the restriction if I'm out somewhere for a while without easy access to a restroom, or even when I'm trying to sleep. It’s incredibly distracting and makes it impossible to actually relax. On the flip side, pads just drive me absolutely crazy, especially during this kind of summer heat...

Nothing much is going to happen, honestly. Blood is just an ideal breeding ground for bacteria, so the longer you leave a Tampax in, the higher the chance you're looking at some kind of bacterial buildup.

Big Paulie, seriously, you don't need to lose any sleep over this—it actually says right on the Tampax box that they’re totally fine to leave in while you sleep. And honestly, if you're out and about during the day and can't find a restroom immediately, five hours isn't even that long of a stretch... though I guess that really just depends on how heavy your flow is that month! 🙂

Starting this thread because I haven't seen anything like this anywhere else, and honestly, I just need someone to talk me down before my doctor's appointment...

I ordered a pack on September 10th, and literally two days later, everything went south. I dealt with a nasty infection, weird discharge, an awful smell, and major stomach pains. The discharge and the smell cleared up after a few days, but the abdominal pain won't quit. Then it hit me—about two months ago, I had this terrifying thought that I might have left a tampon in. Now I’m spiraling. I’d happily wait for my checkup if I could just know: what are the odds that if there *was* something left inside, it wouldn't have caused massive issues by now?

It all started when I tried using a Tampax soaked in tea tree oil for the first time. The next morning, after some painful sex, I started wondering if I'd forgotten to take it out. After spending the whole day overthinking it, I figured maybe the pain was just from the tea tree oil being too harsh on my lining?
I did get my regular period afterward, and things seemed fine during sex following that, so I assumed I'd just imagined the whole thing.

But lately, I've been dealing with constant lower abdominal pain all day long. I'm praying it's just lingering from the infection, but then I can't even remember if I actually removed my tampon before bed last night. Now the panic is hitting hard.😢
