The Proposal (2009)

A brilliant piece of filmmaking! This is easily my top pick for the best movie of the year so far!

It is an incredibly meticulously crafted film, packed with genuine comedic beats and supported by stellar performances!

It has been years since Sandra Bullock has delivered a performance this strong—perhaps her best work since Crash (2004). Furthermore, Ryan Reynolds is a total revelation here; this marks his second standout turn for me, following his work in Definitely, Maybe. He is a phenomenal actor, and he has officially earned a spot among my all-time favorites.

This production is leagues ahead of that absolute trash, The Hangover (2009), which I found to be entirely unfunny and poorly executed.

I cannot recommend this film highly enough!

Everyone needs to get to the theater immediately!

Caught a movie at the theater yesterday... Honestly, I'm a bit let down. The whole thing is just crawling with stereotypes—and the worst, dumbest kind at that. I won't spoil anything right now, but if anyone's interested, I can write out the details. Rating: 3 out of 5.

Most of us guys don't typically gravitate toward these kinds of movies—but Sandra Bullock is still quite stunning for her age.

I seriously need to catch this movie; I saw the trailers playing at the local theater and it looks absolutely awesome 👍

I'll check it out. Seems like it could be great. Back home, they released Truth 🙂

The issue is that this genre rarely breaks new ground. It's a comedy, so you already know there's going to be a happy ending.

I wouldn't recommend this film to anyone—the script was poor and the director missed the mark. There was certainly potential there...

To be honest, I don't care about the happy ending. My issue is with the characterization. When the characters are written that poorly, the whole movie just feels disappointing... I don't know...

Maybe living up north is starting to get to us, and that’s why we’re feeling a bit disappointed. :-)

Honestly, this movie is such a girls' night flick. It’s that quintessential American rom-com vibe you totally expect once you see what it's about.
It's perfectly fine for the ladies, though—I don't think my boyfriend would even get the hype behind it.

Someone mentioned that > is total trash... hm... but when it comes to this one, everyone—guys and girls alike—was saying it’s fantastic. And they were right! It really is!

I agree. The beginning is solid, but things fall apart pretty quickly after that. It honestly feels like someone rushed through the script, which is such a shame because the core concept of the movie is actually great.

Absolutely! There’s nothing quite as absurd as a stripper priest or a baby in a shroud! Truly disgusting!

Actually, the premise of the movie is quite terrible. She faces deportation, so she decides to marry an employee just to stay in the country. Oh yeah!

But the film itself is wonderful! It manages to extract so much humor through great acting!

Sandra Bullock definitely has a great sense of humor!

The movie actually could have been pretty solid if they hadn't butchered the ending, because honestly, that final stretch was just exhausting to sit through.🤮
