It’s been common knowledge for a long time that this forum is mostly dominated by a narrow, small-minded mindset, and I have no interest in debating that.

What actually shook my delicate soul today was something else—something different, yet equally telling. This forum doesn't offer a space for people who don't fit into the binary of male or female.

Germany, a country that has always led the way—sometimes through genocide, sometimes through tolerance, depending on which way the wind blows—recognizes five genders.

I'm not suggesting we should immediately adopt everything from the decaying West, even if it comes from the only nation we love besides our own homeland, but let's be honest with ourselves: there are all kinds of people out there. Not everyone identifies according to medieval standards.

If there’s a Women's Corner—which, let's be objective, hasn't offered an original thought since the idea that women can think—and a Men's Corner, which is only conditional at best and serves as a sanctuary for unlived adolescents, then I see no reason why we shouldn't provide a subforum for those who don't feel like men or women, yet still crave a sense of belonging. To put it in forum terminology - let's call it a subforum for gender-neutral cosmopolitans, anationalists, stateless people, and xenophiles.

I don't need to prove that a transgender subforum couldn't be even more ridiculous than, say, the Alternative section, or that its residents will certainly have more coherent thoughts than the crowd in Spirituality, be more mentally stable than the group in Psychology, or show a higher level of tolerance than the folks in Politics—that much is already obvious. The important thing is that such a subforum could serve as a refuge for anyone who feels stifled by the existing two gender-defined sections.

And I don't doubt for a second that once this subforum comes to life—and it will, whether now or in three years—it will eventually sink into petty conformism. People there will likely be mocked for defending the only logical thesis: that every human is a gender unto themselves, and therefore there are as many genders as there are human beings. But it doesn't matter! Transgender people have a right to be petty too! Let's give them that.

Thanks for listening.

Why didn't you just throw out a quick poll instead?
I would have totally jumped in on that! Right there in your subforum.
In principle, I really love the whole idea.

I didn't bother with a poll because it's become obvious—even to the idiots—that this country doesn't run on what the majority actually wants. Instead, it's governed by how a privileged minority chooses to interpret things.
I'm looking for a minority ruling here, regardless of the general consensus.

There are maybe ten people like that in the entire US🙄

Is there a corner here for folks who are absolutely obsessed with collecting rabbit droppings?🙄

Let’s not compare transgender people to rabbit droppings. Besides, the biggest consumers of rabbit poop are actually rabbits, and even those useful little animals haven't learned how to write yet—though sometimes it feels like certain other creatures on this forum are starting to.

The whole "strength in numbers" argument doesn't hold water either. On this entire site, among thousands of visitors and lurkers, you won't find even ten people offering any actual, sensible advice on alternative medicine. Quantity doesn't just fail to guarantee quality; it’s inherently low-quality , as old Joseph Stalin might have put it.

And let's be real, the leadership would much rather just bend the situation to their advantage by using some kind of poll that conveniently produces the exact results they're hoping for, wouldn't they?

You're just scrolling through the files of the formal debate page, which apparently seems to have more different modes than actual users left on this forum!
Either join in properly or at least try to be constructive—what did you come here to do, just mock us?

They don't identify as men or women—but they sure have that deep-seated craving to belong.😕

I don't know—to me, this whole thing is just plain stupid. These five genders you’re bringing up? Total idiocy, if we're being honest—and that PDF wouldn't be worth the paper it's printed on.
Male and female PDFs aren't gendered—it’s just a label. Both men and women write them; it’s simply a PDF where certain male issues get addressed or male-centric topics are discussed.

I don't see the point of this.

Subforums should be created when there's an actual demand, not just to satisfy some sense of political correctness. If enough threads start popping up on a specific subject, fine. But why open a whole subforum just to have one active thread or a handful of posts that eventually just sit there gathering dust?

Besides, if a topic doesn't fit anywhere else, we already have the "Random" subforum for that.

Honestly, I’ve always looked at being transgender through a bit more of a metaphorical lens! For me, it’s more about that feeling you get when someone posts something online and, instead of actually engaging with the point, people immediately jump down your throat with those tired old clichés like, "Oh, that is such typical male thinking" or "That's just classic female logic." It feels like people try to use those gendered generalizations as some kind of universal trump card to shut down every single discussion, rather than actually having a real conversation!

To be honest, when it comes to most topics, I truly don't mind whether I'm chatting with a man or a woman, though I suppose I'd always be a little more excited to connect with people who share my own vibe!

Me too!
Just as an example, I don't feel "woman enough" to post in Women's Corner, but I've got plenty of balls to post in MK (cliché example, I know).
And they won't let me post in off topic either. :😢
Now a PDF is basically guaranteed 😁

They really ought to just start a whole new thread for this

And there you go, yet another response—apparently, there aren't enough transgender people to justify having their own dedicated section on the forum...

Besides, if a topic doesn't fit anywhere else, we already have the "Random" subforum for that.

I honestly feel like—and maybe it’s just me being a bit idealistic here—that the whole point of having these conversations should be that you can actually sit down and have a decent, civil discussion with someone who holds views completely opposite to your own, provided they actually back up those opinions with some solid, legitimate reasoning!
And please, don't you dare try telling me that I could just go find these answers on other subforums, because honestly, even a quick, casual glance through places like Politics, Religion, or the Women's Corner is more than enough to completely change my mind!
Honestly, the arguments people constantly throw around on those subforums—you know, the whole "you're just a man/woman," "leftist/rightist," "Christian/Muslim/Jew," or "Mexican/American/Uzbek" routine—are, if you'll excuse my language, incredibly arrogant, totally invalid, and just plain exhausting to deal with!
What really gets under my skin—and honestly, it’s a little exhausting to think about—is that they actually walk away from these situations convinced that they've said everything perfectly and backed it all up with flawless logic!
So, are we really planning on opening up an entire subforum just to host one active thread or maybe a handful of posts that’ll end up just sitting there gathering digital dust? It feels like we might be creating a whole new empty space just for the sake of it!
If you ever find yourself staring at a topic that just doesn't seem to fit anywhere else on the boards, don't worry—we actually have a dedicated "Random Stuff" section specifically for those oddball threads!

Why on earth would you think I’d ever be empty? Honestly, that's such a funny thought to have! I feel like I've always got so much going on inside my head, bouncing from one idea to the next, so the idea of being "empty" just doesn't quite sit right with me!😕

Betty Chase54 Asks:
Honestly, I feel like we probably ought to just start an entirely new thread for this kind of discussion!

And here we go again with more of the same! It honestly feels like there just aren't enough transgender people around to justify having their very own dedicated section on the forum.

Wait, what do you mean by "other answers"? I feel like I might be totally missing something here!
Well, look at that! It seems you’ve decided we’re all totally written off, and now you're trying to double down on that stance at any cost—even though the simple math of the situation is clearly working against you. Just look at what happened after only one single day of this thread being live:
Wow, it looks like we’ve already had seven different people jump into this thread!
I’ve got a little request for the group—would anyone be kind enough to send over that PDF? I'd really appreciate it!
I am having such a silly moment right now, but for some reason, I just cannot get this -3/7 file to convert into a PDF! It is one of those little technical hiccups that makes me laugh at my own struggle, but I am honestly just stuck.
It feels like -1/7 is just totally having a massive misunderstanding!

Look, I'll give you a different angle here 😁: why on earth would you think such a PDF could ever be insulated from that kind of "logic"?

I honestly don't see any way that a PDF (public, just like all the others) could suddenly manage to filter out all that noise in the communication channel—where the absolute pinnacle of discourse and entertainment is basically just "I've got 25 cm, therefore you're an idiot, which means I'm right."

Well, I’m thinking we could just handle it through the subforum rules, much like how every single section here already has its own set of guidelines. Basically, the moderators would be the ones handling the "vaccination" process.
It's just like how, say, some sections ban posts that are nothing but emojis because it's in their specific rulebook, while others don't since they haven't made that rule yet—it would work exactly the same way here.

I just don't see any realistic way for a public thread—like all the others out there—to suddenly clear out all that background noise, especially when the peak of the conversation is usually just people shouting "I'm right and you're an idiot!" over and over again.

Hmm, who knows, I guess I just like to believe that most people actually take a quick second to read the rules of a subforum before they jump in to post! Especially since I imagine the regulars would definitely give them a read once a new thread pops up.

Honestly, regardless of which subforum you're on, you can have those talks if you're dealing with a decent interlocutor. If you're talking to someone who’s just going to take shots at you because you're a woman, a leftist, a blonde, or religious... well, there's really no point in even trying to argue with them, is there?

And please don't try telling me that I can find this kind of thing on other boards, because even a superficial glance at, say, Politics, Religion, or the Women's Corner is enough to prove me wrong.

But look, anyone can jump into discussions about politics or religion on the politics and religion boards.
And on MK and the Women's Corner, people can talk about pretty much anything they want.

Of course, everyone still needs to play by the rules.

The arguments that get thrown around constantly on those specific boards—stuff like "you're a man/woman," "you're a leftist/rightist," "you're Christian/Muslim/Jewish," or "you're a Mexican/American/Uzbek"—are, if you'll excuse my language, incredibly obnoxious, totally invalid, and just plain exhausting.

And why on earth would you even want to engage with people who use those kinds of things as their primary arguments? It doesn't matter what subforum it is. On the Women's Corner, you've got singles; over on the US board, it's people who are married; and on the Lifestyle board, it's... well, we all know who that is. 😬
If they're a good conversationalist, they won't throw those cheap shots at you. And if they do, you just ignore them.

No, you really can't.
Because they’ll label you immediately. Exactly like what was described above.

I'm all for it.
Though it wouldn't matter anyway because it's definitely not happening here.
And it's not just because there aren't enough potential debaters; it's because of the mods. They're basically the type of people who, according to the rules, shouldn't even be allowed near a subforum, let alone be chosen to moderate one decently 🤣.
For instance, a moderator on the religion board could literally have a signature that mocks one of the major faiths ☕.

That’s just not true; it's obvious you've only skimmed through these PDFs. Ad hominem attacks are penalized everywhere.

Enyh, I think briskpuma23 was actually talking about moving past gender as a primary trait, not about a lack of meaningful, argued topics—after all, who’s stopping you from starting or encouraging them if they're missing?

Besides, if we stop categorizing people by gender, looks, nationality, orientation, or preferences, what's left for us?

Because they’ll label you immediately. Exactly like what was described above.

I'm all for it.
Though it wouldn't matter anyway because it's definitely not happening here.
And it's not just because there aren't enough potential debaters; it's because of the mods. They're basically the type of people who, according to the rules, shouldn't even be allowed near a subforum, let alone be chosen to moderate one decently 🤣.
For instance, a moderator on the religion board could literally have a signature that mocks one of the major faiths ☕.

Honestly, nobody over on Politics ever branded me a leftist when I mentioned that Zoran Milanović would probably make a better Prime Minister than our current guy. And when I spoke up about same-sex marriage or criticized the reasoning behind wearing a burka, no one on Religion came after me for being "unreligious." Even on MK, nobody ever told me I shouldn't be posting just because I'm a woman—and on Women's Corner... well, that's my home turf. 😁

I have definitely had people write things to me in that kind of vein before, but it was never actually about the specific subforum; it was always about the individual user. None of the people I actually respect—regardless of whether we agree or not—would ever talk to me like that.

So, how on earth could a user like this, a Transgender (??) user, be targeted for being "stupid"? 😕

Enyh, I think briskpuma23 was actually talking about moving past gender as a primary trait, not about a lack of meaningful, argued topics—after all, who’s stopping you from starting or encouraging them if they're missing?

That is simply, quite frankly, untrue.

I’ll admit—I don't exactly have the spare time or the burning desire to go hunting for specific examples right now—but they are out there in abundance.

If ad hominem attacks were always being penalized everywhere, we would see a massive spike in bans—and while certain forum users might find that appealing, at some point, it logically stops being economically viable for a platform to function.

Now, I’m not suggesting that turning a blind eye is intentional, organized, or even encouraged—but honestly, that’s beside the point; the claim itself just doesn't hold water.
