Peter Ward45 said:God, my sister is pregnant and honestly, I am basically interrogating her every single day about whether they’ve finally picked a name yet, and I’m just constantly hovering, waiting for any tiny excuse to go grab that belly... I keep teasing her and calling her huge because she looks so ridiculously cute with that little bump out in front of her... but really, it’s just because I am freaking out with excitement and I seriously cannot wait to meet this tiny little human...
I really need to chill before I drive everyone crazy 😁

Maybe your sister actually enjoys the attention... you might want to check if she has a username on here just so she doesn't pop up in this thread... 🤣
If it were up to me, I'd have picked a name already... 😂

placidscout10 said:At the Department of Homeland Security on Petrinjska, they have signs saying people with disabilities and pregnant women get priority—in several different spots, too. I actually checked this out about three weeks ago when I was heading in to pick up my ID. I was through and done in maybe five minutes... 🙂

Sent from my iPhone using Reddit

Even the lady at the information desk tells pregnant women they can skip the line. I actually visited both the Heinzelov location and the Petrinja office twice this January.😉

I didn't hesitate—I just stepped right behind whoever was currently being served at the window. I think I heard some grumbling from someone behind me, but honestly—if I cared about that sort of thing, it would bother me.☕

The woman at the ground floor desk was incredibly rude—on the complete opposite end of the spectrum, though, the staff member upstairs was so lovely—it felt like I had stepped through some kind of wormhole in time and space.😍

Mind you, I did wait at the Post Office for half an hour—maybe longer—since the line stretched all the way back to the ticket machines. Even then, you still have those "VIPs" cutting in (apparently, if you're at the police counters, you don't need to wait in line: you can just sit down, lean against the counter, or go outside to feed the birds).😲

I’m 26 weeks pregnant and quite mobile, but I see no reason to stand around listening to other people's nonsense—nor am I planning on popping pills just to deal with them. Besides, under normal circumstances, I’m always happy to let pregnant women, parents with small kids, and the elderly go ahead of me.😁

To my fellow pregnant ladies: if being polite doesn't work, just cut the line. It’s not like we’re asking for the moon here—like demanding a massive increase in maternity benefits.🤣

We always said we’d get married once I got pregnant—everyone just kind of rolled with it. But the second we actually picked a date and a guest list, all hell broke loose. Suddenly it was: "Why are you having such a tiny wedding?" (It was just 16 of us; we both wanted it small, plus I was on bed rest at the time—what was I supposed to do, watch everyone else dance while I sat there?) 🙂, then: "Why isn't it in a church?" or "Why didn't you invite Cousin Vinny?" We only invited the elders, our godparents, sisters, and two grandmas. Then there were the comments about my 5-inch heels—as if being pregnant makes me ineligible for style—and a thousand other nitpicking questions. But the absolute kicker? My aunt had the nerve to tell me that if we didn't baptize the baby, she’d just do it behind our backs 🙂. Like, excuse me? She didn't even bother asking if we *wanted* that to happen. Well, newsflash: we do. 😂

😂 Honestly, what is wrong with some of these grandparents? My father-in-law actually told me he was going to call the baby by his own name because he wasn't a fan of the one we chose. 🤣 Just once, I'd like to hear him use the actual name.....☕

We skipped the whole thing. Well, I did. For basically the same reasons. I just flat-out told people there wouldn't be a wedding because I wasn't about to pile extra stress on myself while pregnant.

And while we're on the subject, people who immediately jump down your throat with "So? When's the wedding?" the moment they find out you're expecting really drive me crazy: 🙄

I need to add my relatives to my official list of most irritating people. They constantly insist that:
- there’s no way my baby is healthy because I haven't gained enough weight
- there’s no way my baby is healthy because I don't spend every ten minutes snacking on piles of bacon and greasy food
- there’s no way my baby is healthy because my belly is "too small" according to their math 🙂
- there’s no way my baby is healthy because at 27 weeks they think the baby should be over four pounds, and mine is barely two pounds because I'm "starving myself"🙂
- there’s no way my baby is healthy because some distant relative had a 11-pound baby that was 22 inches long, and mine has to be exactly like that or it's considered sickly😠

Everyone got under my skin yesterday, so I'm just venting here on my keyboard🙄 excuse me😁

And honestly, who in their right mind pressures a pregnant woman to eat bacon and garlic at 10:00 PM after being told "no, thank you, it's too late for me to eat" a hundred times? 🙂
On top of that, every single one of them was pregnant half a century ago and now act like I have to work right up until three days before delivery because that's how they did it. As if I shouldn't be resting at home for 45 days beforehand!
If I actually had a bazooka and they kept arguing with me, the headline in the news would read: "Pregnant Woman Wipes Out Half Her Family. Motive Unknown"🤣😂

So, by pure chance, I ended up having to shovel the snow in front of the office. It wasn't even a big deal, honestly—not particularly exhausting or anything. I just got it all cleared and salted, and everything looked great.

A few hours later, my neighbor from the building next door wanders over and asks if I have any salt he could borrow. Then, he has the nerve to comment that since we were already out there shoveling, we might as well have done his two feet of walkway too. I just looked at him and said, "Sir, I was the one doing the clearing" (I mean, obviously, I'm pregnant).
And then he goes, "Well, you could've just done my two feet while you were at it." 😲😲

Honestly, I was just stunned. I didn't even know how to respond. Look, I'm not asking for anyone to walk on eggshells around me, but some things are just way too much. 😕

New gem of the day:
So you're six months pregnant? What, are you even eating anything? I bet the kid is starving...🙂

🤣
Yeah, starving—the kid has clearly never seen food before. 😂

Just hit the ignore button and don't let it get to you. 😉
Personally, I check out the second someone mentions bellies or weight gain. Let them talk all they want; as long as my doctor gives me a clean bill of health and tells me we’re both healthy and growing well, that's all that matters to me. 😍

So, I had this totally surreal encounter the other day that I’m still trying to wrap my head around... I was just walking through downtown, minding my own business, when I run right into my mom's aunt, and she just comes at me out of nowhere like a cannonball. She looks me dead in the eye and goes, "Honey, are you absolutely sure you're only carrying one baby? Because from where I'm standing, it looks like there are more than one in there," and then follows it up with, "Goodness, look how much weight you've put on!" I mean, really? This woman, who easily tips the scales at 260 pounds, is looking at me—while I'm pregnant—telling me *I'm* fat. And the kicker? Her own daughters haven't even gone into labor yet, and they're all hovering around the 220 mark themselves. Honestly, it's just wild 😕

It honestly drives me insane how my mother can't let a single moment pass without lecturing me about how she was working 19-hour shifts back when she was only 22, and how things are obviously going to be even harder for me since I’m pushing 30. Well, thanks for that burst of positivity, Mom!
And my mother-in-law? She absolutely kills me every time she calls, acting like she’s just counting down the days until I give birth so we can finally bring the baby over for her to raise—she even suggested the kid could stay with her until they start school. As if I’m having a child just so she can play parent!
Not to mention, I already know exactly what's coming once the grandmas start keeping score over who's babysitting more. 🙂

I am pushing myself just to feel like myself again—trying not to be irritable, overly sensitive, or constantly on the verge of tears. I’m forcing myself through workouts and sticking strictly to my diet (though, full disclosure, I’ve already gained 7 pounds) 🤷 which makes me wonder why I haven't been flagged for complications, or why I haven't had to undergo a thousand different tests (including Torch and all those other screenings)... and of course, why I choose to handle everything privately and how much that actually costs 🙂 (especially for people who are drowning in credit card debt because they wasted money on useless junk and designer clothes). Plus, I’ll just have to wait and see if things take a turn for the worse and how my private doctor handles it (usually involving people who have never even stepped foot in a specialist's office and are far too old to bother going 😬). Sometimes it feels like I'm being punished simply because I don't fit the "perfect" mold or because I'm choosing to act like a normal human being (thank Quincy I can) ... as if they are all just sitting there waiting to say, "See? We told you so..." 🙂

I’m honestly reaching my breaking point with this one friend—she is constantly rubbing our stroller purchase in our faces just because we spent a premium on it. 🙄 No matter what we’re talking about—whether it's iPhones, dinner plans, or vacation spots—somehow the conversation pivots back to our stroller and its price tag. It’s bizarre. And if we even dare to mention that something else is expensive or that we have a bill to pay, her immediate response is always some variation of, "Well, you shouldn't complain, considering how much you dropped on those strollers." 😠 Between the sheer annoyance and my pregnancy hormones, I am hovering dangerously close to telling her to take a hike if she brings up those wheels one more time!!!! 🙂

I went through the exact same thing with my mom during my first pregnancy... but if it helps, mine was only 4 hours and way easier than hers 🙂

My mom basically tells me "tough luck" 😁 and honestly, I can't disagree... I've pretty much realized that people with more money tend to be even more greedy and stingy... and look, I'm not trying to be ungrateful, truly, but these same people often bring in double or even triple what our household makes, yet they act like they're constantly broke and struggling to make ends meet, all while looking at us like we have nothing we can't afford... I just... 😬

I won't even get started on my in-laws. I finally stood my ground during the first quarter of this year and told them straight up that I am never going to let them drain me or treat me with the kind of malice they used to show. So, once the baby arrives, I'll be waiting with a metaphorical sword ready; if they even think about making one wrong move, my patience and my tendency to just swallow my pride will be strictly in the past tense... 😬 which means: we aren't communicating until things settle down. Occasionally, their passive-aggressive comments still get under my skin, but I'm still learning how to stop letting it hurt me. For years, they've tried to paint me as whatever version of me suits them, and now that I've finally drawn a line and decided I won't play along anymore, they've become even more passive-aggressive...

I’m honestly just baffled by how much some people feel the need to stick their noses in my finances. 😠

I'm not an idiot; I’m not going to blow my entire savings on a summer vacation, high-end baby gear, designer clothes, or the latest tech... only to end up with an empty fridge.
But it's always the people living way beyond their means who feel entitled to comment on how much we spend, or tell us we don't need all this stuff for a baby... 🙂 Excuse me? Who asked you? You aren't the ones footing the bill. 😛

Right now, I'm catching heat for my diaper bag (because apparently, why buy a nice one when there are cheaper options? Sure, there are—but I LOVE this one, and I paid for it myself 😛), my new MacBook, and the car seat base (which is incredibly expensive—and get this, it's coming from a mom whose baby is only a few months old and still travels in a basket rather than a proper car seat 🙂🙂).

What do you think will happen when I mention I'm planning to use a private hospital for delivery? 😬
It'll probably be just as pointless as the stroller thing—she'll likely say there are plenty of public hospitals available if I really wanted to, or that it’s just such an unnecessary expense... 🙄
I mean, why does it concern them so much?
I really can't stand it when people act like they're auditing my bank account while they're sitting there drowning in credit card debt from their own car payments, furniture, summer trips, and ski vacations. 🤮

Yes—there’s always some wise guy ready to lecture you, just like feralmoose32 said. The worst part is that I’ve known her for years; until about two years ago, she was living the high life—constant shopping trips and luxury vacations. Now, she’s a single mom navigating a much harder reality since the father—who was essentially her financier—is out of the picture. It’s a tough situation, and honestly, I feel for her—I’ve stepped in to help her a thousand times—but I also know that if she were still in her old tax bracket, she’d be buying a stroller far more expensive than this one. That’s why it gets under my skin. Everything is overpriced—everything—but I’ll take investing in my kid over buying a flashy car any day. At the end of the day, people should spend their money however they see fit. 😳

Honestly, I can't imagine why anyone would care—if you have the funds and it makes you feel better after everything you've been through, then why not? It’s a deeply personal decision—why should anyone else even weigh in? You know what works for you better than anyone else does. 🙂

Honestly, I have the exact opposite experience. 🙄

Everything we own was handed down from relatives or friends who already had kids—double strollers, cribs, even a bassinet with a bath, plus a mountain of clothes and car seats. And what do I get? People hitting me with comments like, "You can't use that," or "You really need to buy a new stroller," or "How do you know it isn't worn out?" They act like because we don't buy everything brand new, we must be blowing our money on winter tires or weekend trips to a spa resort instead. Just total nonsense. 😬

At the end of the day, how someone spends their money is their business. It seems insane to me to drop thousands upon thousands of dollars on stuff that’s only going to be used for a few months when I have the chance to get it all for free.

I know some people find it beneath them to let their kid wear "used" gear.

Me? I'd much rather open a savings account and put a few hundred bucks away for my kid every month. Because let's face it: the faster they grow, the more expensive they get.

To be perfectly honest, I couldn't care less if someone drops 15 $0.00 on baby gear before the birth or 30 $0.00 on a private hospital, regardless of whether I would personally do the same.

Everyone does what they can and what they think is best. Priorities vary from person to person, just like life philosophies, and that should be respected. 🙂
