The other day I was on the phone with my mother-in-law, and she started complaining about her back aching, expressing this sudden anxiety about how she’ll manage once the baby arrives... specifically worrying if she'll even be able to handle changing diapers and such 🙂 🙂 I mean, excuse me??? It’s as if she isn't thinking clearly at all... her own mother will be right there to handle the cooking, the cleaning, the laundry, and all those little things, leaving her to just step in if I need a hand—like when I'm hopping in the shower or something—while I remain the one primarily responsible for my own child.
I am truly hoping that my husband can have a serious word with her so she doesn't become an overwhelming presence during this time... though, honestly, I'll probably just have to clarify things with her over the phone myself... if she were a more sensible woman, she wouldn't be stressing herself out over hypothetical scenarios so far in advance

I’m just sitting here waiting for my next boyfriend to come along, and I swear, the absolute highlight of my day has been reading those incredibly witty comments like, "Oh, so we're moving on to number three now, sweetie?" 🙂
And of course, this profound wisdom is coming from people who haven't even managed to have a single child themselves. 😵

Yesterday, my neighbor asked Alexander Chase54 what we’re naming the baby—and I just gave him a polite, firm answer: "I'm not telling anyone anything." 🙄

And then comes the comment from the neighbor—"Why so secretive? I don't like that attitude." Honestly, who asked for his opinion? You pick a name for your kid because you want to, and I'll pick one for mine.

It didn't even rattle me that much.

What really gets under my skin is that here in Cleveland, there isn't a single breastfeeding class to be found—not through home health visits, nor is there any local parenting association or group dedicated to actually educating us expectant mothers.
On top of that, it drives me crazy that the local hospital has these ridiculous rules about how far along you have to be to sign up for their classes—but by the time you're actually that far along, they just brush you off because they're "full." Give me a break!

Ugh, I'm just feeling so on edge today.

Don't be surprised if you start facing similar scrutiny (honestly, my own mother used to look at me like I was being radical just for deciding to take a quick shower and wash my hair)🤣.

They don't seem to grasp that we aren't all still piling into one giant wooden tub where the woman is expected to wait her turn until everyone else—the father-in-law, the mother-in-law, the husband, and so on—has finished😉

My sister was told by one of those visiting nurses that they actually have a breastfeeding support group that meets once a month—and apparently, we're all welcome to join.

Thanks for the heads-up.
The topic for our class next week is breastfeeding, so I'll definitely dig for more details then. My nurse told me about a month ago that nothing like that existed here in Cleveland—so maybe things have changed?

It honestly drives me nuts how everyone just fixates on all the nightmare scenarios once you have a kid. It’s like nobody ever mentions the actual good stuff—the joy, the magic, any of it. Instead, it's just a non-stop lecture about how we won't sleep, how we'll lose our social lives, or how our sex life is basically going to be dead in the water... I mean, look, 🙂 obviously things aren't going to stay exactly the same as they were before, but I'm actually genuinely stoked for this whole parenting thing and can't wait for the big day to finally get here.

It honestly gets under my skin how much people feel entitled to comment on everything—what we bought, what we spent on baby gear, what we’re naming him, my appearance, or even how many pounds I’ve put on...🙂 Just back off. ☕

Exactly. And it’s especially grating now that I’ve finally found some peace of mind, only to have certain people try to spook me with their grim tales and tragic endings, or all those pregnancy complications...🙂

You can't seem to hear or read anything positive anywhere.

I hear the same thing constantly...
Honestly, I almost feel bad for them. They aren't enjoying the kids when they should be...

The real issue is her attitude. ☕

Honestly, one of these days I’m just going to snap and tell everyone: stop being such a buzzkill!

I am already completely overwhelmed enough on my own.

I have a baby girl on the way too, but he’s acting just as indifferent. He even told me once, "We'll see what happens when she's actually born." 😠

I'm just bracing myself for the moment I get home from the hospital and the endless diaper changes begin. 🙂

It’s incredibly grating when people make their very first question—and often their only one—about my weight. "How many pounds did you gain?" or even worse, some distant relative asking, "Wow, you've really put on some weight." Honestly, I wanted to snap at them, but I kept it polite. Then there was that comment about waiting until the baby "comes to life." As if I needed to explain that the baby was perfectly fine long before that. There were so many mindless comments like that.

No, no, when I said "she," I meant my father-in-law—since we're talking about him.

In my case, it's my boyfriend. 😉

When I brought up the gender, they just waved me off like, "As long as the kid is healthy, that's all that matters." 😳
