I might as well bring up my mother-in-law... 😁
The entire pregnancy, she’s been pushing these herbal teas and random concoctions on me. I can't even mention a broken nail without her having some "natural remedy" ready. It's madness. At one point, I didn't even want to visit, so she started sending over these tinctures through my husband...
My husband knows the drill. He brings home these weirdly colored, foul-smelling teas and immediately tosses them straight in the trash the second he walks through the door. 😂
But she won't quit...
What’s really getting under my skin lately is her telling us not to buy certain things because she'll get them, or that she already bought them and will give them to us. Except, nothing ever shows up. I could go into labor tomorrow and she'd still be stalling. I don't know what she's waiting for—maybe she thinks the baby's eye color determines which supplies we need. 🙂🤷 🙂

It honestly drives me up the wall how my mother-in-law keeps insisting my stomach is huge and that I’m definitely further along than I actually am. Even when I try to calmly explain that the ultrasound shows the baby is exactly where it should be for this stage, she just rolls her eyes and acts like doctors don't know anything about their own jobs...🙂

And get this—she won't let me buy a single thing for the nursery ahead of time because she's so superstitious. Apparently, since her son ended up sleeping in a stroller during his first few months because she refused to buy anything early, we have to follow the same pattern...🙂🙄
And she brings it up every single time, without fail!!!!

So the other day I’m at Target, right? And the cashier—bless her heart—looks me dead in the eye and tells me I’m definitely carrying twins. I had to shut that down immediately like, "Uh, nope, just one little human in here." She got all awkward fast after that, trying to backtrack and saying, "Oh, well, you'll probably end up with more eventually!" She was clearly dying inside because I just hit her with the, "Wait, am I really that big? Hehe" 🙂

It honestly drives me crazy when people use that phrase, "IF God decides to let you give birth."😂
I mean, what else am I supposed to do? Just sit here and wait? We cleared the twelve-week mark a long time ago...

Am I really the only one out there with a totally normal mother-in-law? And to make things even more interesting, we actually live under the same roof—we’re upstairs, and they’re on the ground floor.

I suppose I should just thank God for that luck.😁

Oh, come on, it's not like you'll be pregnant your whole life.🙂🙂

I’m in the same boat myself
At least for now—don't want to jinx it by saying it out loud too soon 😉

Personally, I’m not particularly worried about it... though I suppose one might doubt whether everything can truly be resolved overnight. 😁

I honestly have no clue what is wrong with people lately 🤷

Look, we all know that bad things happen—life isn't some Disney movie, and things can definitely go south—but why the constant doom and gloom? Why obsess over stuff that is completely out of our hands?
It’s even worse when you walk into a situation feeling optimistic, only to have someone immediately rain on your parade like that—as if 🙄🙂

Like I said, I have to go through with this birth, so whatever happens, happens. I think dwelling on the "what ifs" is just nonsense. Even if the worst-case scenario plays out, I’ll still be facing a delivery this far along in my pregnancy. The baby is already formed and ready to go, regardless of how much people worry about it.

This honestly feels right up there with that whole "did it come back to life" debate🙂

My absolute favorite part is when they say, "Just wait until it starts kicking and bruising your ribs! It hurts like hell!"

I mean, seriously, 🤷 is this baby actually going to snap my ribs based on their little horror stories? 🙂

bellla said:Mine is all about those "loving" lectures—you know, the ones like: "How are you? Don't work too hard (but who’s going to do it if not you?), you're eight months along now, you have to be careful (oh, really??), and I love you so much, I'm just so happy, I can't wait for my grandchild!" Then it's: "Did you make some soup?" (I tell her no, I have nothing, I'll just grab a sandwich), and she goes, "Well, you can't, you need home-cooked food." Yeah—except she forgot to mention, "I'll cook it and send it over..." blah blah blah. Should I even mention how invisible I was to everyone—including my own family—during those first seven months?😠

They drive me insane: 50 3::5 03: Oh, I won't even write to Mom; she's a whole different story.☕

My mom actually helped a ton from the start—offering to come over to clean or iron, even when it wasn't necessary. She probably cleaned our place maybe five times during the whole pregnancy, and now I'm practically at the finish line. We can go over for lunch with my dad almost every day—we just have to call a day ahead so she knows how much to make. But she only invited us for holiday meals or maybe a weekend; early on, there were even little incidents where she'd cook mussels or something I wasn't allowed to eat, despite knowing the restrictions. So, it annoys me even more now that she's suddenly all mushy and constantly wants to touch my stomach (and the little one, just to spite me, refuses to move whenever she puts her hand 😂) and calls us for lunch every other day. Honestly, being pregnant during those first three months when I was bleeding was way worse than dealing with this belly situation now. Get lost...🙂

Jane1985 said:This reminded me of something. At my first appointment, around six weeks, the OB-GYN confirmed the pregnancy—we could even hear the heartbeat. We didn't get an ultrasound photo, but we told our parents, though we asked them not to spread the word yet since it was still so early. The next checkup was at eleven weeks, after which my father-in-law called my mom to ask if I had been to the doctor, what they said, and if I was still actually pregnant 😕 It really ticked me off :m ad: I honestly think he won't believe it until he sees the bump, or maybe not even until I actually give birth :roll eyes:

Mine were the exact opposite—they were celebrating the second I got confirmation at six weeks.🤣

Ugh, I honestly can't stand superstitious women—it’s so draining. Honestly, if this were me, the constant nagging would drive me to stop visiting her entirely until after the baby is born.

I feel the exact same way...🙂 It’s so strange how when you're out shopping, people start telling you to make sure everything is suitable for a second child too... I mean, what on earth is that about? How are they supposed to know there will even be another baby, when the one we are expecting right now is already HERE and apparently we aren't allowed to shop for it yet...

Nathan Kelly said:No, no, when I said "she," I meant my father-in-law—since we're talking about him.

In my case, it's my boyfriend. 😉

When I brought up the gender, they just waved me off like, "As long as the kid is healthy, that's all that matters." 😳

Aha! That pregnancy brain is really kicking in, isn't it?🤦

Exactly. If God saw fit to let me get pregnant, surely He'll see me through the delivery too, right? It’s all part of the same journey.😳

Go ahead and give thanks!☕

Mine baked some rolls today and invited us over. This happened after she got some leftover casserole from my husband yesterday because she wanted to eat with them, and he told her he wouldn't eat without his wife. Can you imagine? He's eating while I'm sitting at home by myself, starving (and yes, believe it or not, *I* get hungry!), and if they want us to join them, they need to call us in the morning; otherwise, we'll just make our own food.😂 🤣
Today, the two of us were notified that the rolls would be ready around 6:00 PM.🤣
And tomorrow, my husband is working, but she’s making fish, and she even said my father-in-law can come pick me up if I need a ride—she just wants me there.😂

It sounds like you’ve done quite a job training them...☕ though I must say, it feels incredibly disrespectful when they only extend an invitation to their son and completely overlook his wife. It reminds me of how my own mother used to insist that only I come over for lunch, or perhaps just me and my daughter today or tomorrow, while leaving my mother-in-law out entirely🙂

I hate it when people ask if I'm pregnant. 🙄 It’s such a weird question... makes me think of those old Alien movies or something. Honestly, what’s the point even asking? It’s not like I’m in some super early stage where I wouldn't notice if something was actually kicking inside me 🤷

A friend actually asked me that the other day while I was 34 weeks along. 🤣 I wouldn't hold it against him—really—but he has two kids of his own, so I find it hard to believe he doesn't know what those little kicks feel like. 🙄

Let me share something that actually caught me off guard the other day—in a good way 🙂
The butcher over at my local Safeway in Scottsdale gave me some soup bones for free 😁
Look, I get it—they're just bones, and they barely cost a dime—but it genuinely touched my heart.
I guess I just really needed a little bit of kindness right about now 😬

And honestly? It doesn't take much more than that to get me riled up or frustrated 😂 , but let's save that vent for another time

Look, my mother-in-law is actually pretty great most of the time and we genuinely get along, but...😂
Ever since I found out I was pregnant, it feels like everyone around me has suddenly become some kind of unsolicited life coach... It’s just this constant stream of "this is how I did it," or "just wait until the baby actually arrives, then you'll see how hard it really is," or even the classic "why on earth do you need that specific piece of furniture?" People have been commenting on my size, telling me not to get too stressed because I'll end up with a fussy baby, and then there's the advice about "preserving my energy" so I don't wake up in the middle of the night once the little one is here because they "need their rest"... as if I'm going to be sitting there doing absolutely nothing while they sleep, like I'm just going to spend twenty-four hours a day staring at the wall or something...🙂🙂

Maybe her hormones are just acting up too...
