I dealt with that exact same nonsense countless times during my first pregnancy back when I was visiting the maternity clinic at SDu.
Honestly, I can't decide who's more obnoxious in those moments—the clueless guys or their oblivious partners. 🙄

Exactly... I mean, if my husband were there, he wouldn't even think twice about giving up his seat if he saw a pregnant woman standing—mostly because he actually knows how much it sucks for them. It’s one thing when someone doesn't have kids or their wife isn't pregnant and they haven't experienced any of this firsthand—I get that, I guess, even if I'm not exactly making excuses for them...

Let me repeat that: an OB-GYN clinic.
A place where they truly have nothing to ask for—other than maybe being a support system—let alone taking up precious seating space.

Oh boy, those "protective dads" always try to act so tough against women like us...☕☕

But honestly, nobody even lets me past the entrance at the local grocery store... though I guess I've just gotten used to it by now, so it doesn't even rattle me anymore...

And then you get those ridiculous comments, like, "Oh, we'll teach you how men are made." And I'm just like, nope, we'll be the ones teaching you how women are made...

You really have to know how to hold your own...😁

I honestly feel too embarrassed to even ask if I can cut ahead in line, mostly because everyone looks so incredibly high-and-mighty, and nobody wants to be the one to actually acknowledge my food baby 😕

It’s not even that people are trying to push pregnant women aside—it’s more like they assume you're an easy target because you look vulnerable, so they just skip right over you.🙂

You really have to stand up for yourself... I can't argue with that.

People have become absolute animals lately—shout out to the rare exceptions, though.

Man, what’s even the point of those signs hanging up at Target? Like, nobody actually gives a damn about a two percent difference.

If I actually managed to find some sign posted somewhere, then I guess I’d be absolutely floored...

But honestly, there isn't a single sign to be found anywhere 🙂

It really gets under my skin when people start acting all sentimental, constantly talking about how they just can't wait for the baby to arrive or how much they want to hold and spoil her... it's just too much. Honestly, forget it. You shouldn't be getting all wrapped up in a newborn you don't even have yet, because once you're gone, someone else is left doing all the hard work of actually raising her...

I suppose it’s my turn to weigh in and share what I went through. Throughout my pregnancy and the postpartum period, the primary source of my irritation was my mother-in-law and my own mother. Once my mother-in-law found out I was pregnant, she started sending me daily texts asking if I was feeling alright, even when I wasn't even— 🙂 well, let's just say I eventually had to snap and tell her quite clearly that I am not an invalid, and if I ever actually feel unwell, I promise she will be the first to know...
The very first day we arrived home with the baby, both my in-laws and my mother showed up at the door. I told my husband right then and there that once we have our second child, I am locking the doors... (though I can only hope I possess enough backbone to actually follow through on that).
On the second day, my mother-in-law called my husband to check the status of things, and since the little one happened to be crying during the call, she came flying over uninvited 😠 (she lives in the apartment complex right next to us). She immediately started fussing about how the baby looked yellow and all sorts of other nonsense. In a moment of pure panic, I called a nurse I used to know from the hospital to get some professional advice. It turns out, I later read that newborns are often a bit yellow and it's quite common for up to three weeks after birth. But in that moment? She managed to scare the life out of me in seconds. To make matters worse, everyone—my mother and my in-laws alike—just kept hovering and patronizing me, competing over who would cook for us; if it wasn't the in-laws, they'd insist my mother should do it because her cooking is supposedly better. While they really do all cook wonderfully, you simply cannot reason with fools....
The absolute peak of my frustration, however, was when my mother-in-law decided to lecture me on breastfeeding. She didn't even breastfeed her own two children, yet here she was, acting like an expert on a subject she has zero experience with.
For instance, whenever I would retreat to the bedroom to nurse, she would follow me in and start lecturing me on things like how to watch the baby's nose, as if I hadn't a clue. Haloooooo, I spent four days in the hospital nursing without a single issue, and now suddenly you're the authority on the matter? Eventually, she got the message when I firmly told her to stop being so salty. And then there's my father-in-law, who acts like he's the ultimate authority on breastfeeding quality and everything else under the sun. Sure, he's clearly the smartest man in the room. He’d claim the baby was fussy because of the milk, when in reality, it was his constant badgering and his wife's nagging that were making *me* nervous. They really need to just back off.
And oh, just when she knew she was coming over while I was nursing, she’d drop comments about how the baby was always latching onto one specific side (which just happened to be the side I was currently using)....
In short, it was exhausting. The worst part is that they live so close by. I truly hope that when the second baby comes, I’ll have the strength to finally set some boundaries, because I am usually such a calm person when it's just me, my husband, and the baby. It's this group that makes me incredibly anxious. Even just typing this out now, remembering how it all went down, I can feel myself starting to shake. They aren't bad people, and I think they genuinely want what's best for us, but their constant questioning and unsolicited advice produces the exact opposite effect.

When I faced comments like "you need to know how to make a man," I responded with total indifference: "Sorry, but you need to know how to make a hole in a hole." Then I simply changed the subject. Everyone went silent. Perhaps they will think twice before trying to act smart next time. ☕

🤣Since we’re having a little boy, my husband keeps bragging about how he’s doing everything by the book for his first time so he can slack off later. Honestly, I don't mind because I know he's just teasing—we both really wanted a girl anyway.🤣
But I haven't run into any other gross comments yet.

Anyway, as I get closer to my due date, I just want to say this whole journey has been amazing. I'd go through all the annoying stuff, the people, and the chaos all over again in a heartbeat.😍 When you weigh it all up, it wasn't even that bad.😁

Heh, I don't know what it is, but I honestly thought I was just losing my mind—you know, hormones acting up or whatever else people blame it on.

I’ve actually started avoiding going to the grocery store just so I don't deal with all those faces that act like you don't even exist...
One woman totally ripped into me at the DMV over in Chicago while I was waiting at the ID counter. Look, I get it, there were a hundred people in line ahead of me, but seriously? A little "excuse me, are you next in line?" goes a long way. She starts judging me, looking at me with her nose in the air, making all these comments about how everyone is waiting just as long as she is, blah blah blah... until this older lady steps up and says, "Excuse me, ma'am, I'm actually next in line." It was a total disaster.
And don't even get me started on the guys. They either go to one extreme or the other. Either they're overly cautious and trying to help you with every single little thing, or they won't give you the time of day. Honestly, if I let these people get under my skin every single time, I'd be a nervous wreck.🙂

The other day, I’m just out on the street when this complete stranger walks up to me and asks, "Is it a boy?" He tells me if it's a boy, he's going to buy a stroller for the baby.🙄🙄🙄

Honestly, I was about two seconds away from pulling my wallet out and handing him my credit card so he could just settle the bill right then and there.🙄>

I am not pregnant, but back when I was at my heaviest, some guy I’ve never even met in my life had the nerve to ask if I was expecting. 😬

EDIT: It seems like a lot of you are getting worked up about people touching stomachs... personally, I always want to touch a stomach (strictly with people I'm close to, obviously) and I always ask first. If someone were to just lung forward and grab my belly right now, I’d kick them in the teeth before they could even finish the thought, let alone be pregnant. 🤣

Well, I actually lived through that. This random woman in her 40s just grabbed my midsection at a CVS. I didn't kick her 🙂 because I was honestly just speechless.

And then there was this one guy I was dealing with for work who literally started tearing up when he saw my belly, launching into this whole speech about how it’s such a blessing. 😕

People are just something else.

I’ve honestly gotten so used to people taking shots at my midsection—not that I mind, since I pretty much know everyone in this town anyway—that I just don't have the energy to get worked up about it anymore...

The only thing driving me absolutely insane right now is this stye I’ve got. Every single person I talk to acts like I’m some kind of criminal because of it. They’re all like, "How can you have a stye? You’re pregnant! You should be focusing on everyone else, not yourself." As if I somehow did this to myself on purpose, hahaha. Honestly, I feel like losing my mind. I want to scream at them. I’ve heard the same condescending crap a million times already. And then there’s the people who lean in way too close and ask, "Oh, what's that on your eye?" Like, excuse me? Mind your own damn business! Get away from my face, you idiots!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

🙂

First, you ask if it’s okay to touch their belly, but then you don't wait for an answer before you've already got your hand right there on them...

I honestly just rolled my eyes and told them, "Well, you're already touching it, aren't you?"

Only my MD gives me any grief; everyone else waits for me to make the first move. People tend to be a little intimidated by me anyway. 🙄

Honestly, the whole breastfeeding thing is just a total disaster for me... usually, it happens out of nowhere. I’ll be right in the middle of some nice, relaxed conversation, feeling all mellow, and then—BAM!!! Ouch, man, it’s intense... look, my body is mine, okay? It's not some public playground or a science experiment. And what really kills me is that I can never even speak up when it happens because I'm too mortified to react. It’s just plain awkward.
And don't even get me started on people lecturing me about nursing, or diapers, or "this diaper" and "that diaper."
What do I know? Do I want to breastfeed??! Yeah, I know it's great and supposedly the gold standard and whatever, but I seriously cannot promise how things are going to go once the baby actually arrives. My intention is to do what's best for both me and my kid, but these constant, idiotic comparisons and judgments are driving me insane. I’ve honestly lost my temper a few times just dealing with all that brainwashing. Honestly, once I have this baby, I might just lock the door for an entire month just so everyone leaves me the hell alone... everyone thinks they have a right to weigh in with their "advice." Newsflash: you don't.
