The body isn't some predictable machine—you can have a late ovulation, skip it entirely, or it happens way before that famous "day 14" everyone obsesses over...
so yeah... sperm can always be a risk here.🤣
And look, that fluid you're releasing? There's a little bit of sperm in there—not much, but it's there.

You know what you call couples who rely solely on tracking fertile days?
...parents.

Paul Brooks6 said:Hey there.

Sorry if this isn't quite the right sub for this kind of thing, so feel free to move it wherever it actually belongs...

So, I've been sleeping with this girl, and the last time we actually had sex was about 11 days ago, but now her period is running about 9 or 10 days late. To be clear, I didn't finish inside her, but there have been some questionable moments involving some discharge she's been dealing with since we started seeing each other. She told me it’s basically just acting like lubricant—sort of like how a woman gets wet naturally—and that it might carry trace amounts of sperm, even if it's minimal... On top of all that, she deals with some hormonal imbalances that have caused her period to be off by a few days in the past.

What I'm really trying to wrap my head around is the whole ovulation thing and the actual odds of getting pregnant... specifically, is there any real danger from sperm being present just two days before her period was supposed to start?

Also, if anyone knows where else I should be looking for info on this, or which kind of specialist I should be reaching out to or calling, I’d really appreciate the guidance...

Hold on a second. You last slept together 11 days ago? And you're 10 days late? If you actually had sex then, you should have already had your period by now. There's basically zero chance of pregnancy there.

The only way this happens is if you guys were together 3 or 4 weeks ago. ☕

Just a test. You can find them at any CVS or Walgreens. In about two or three minutes, you'll have all the answers you need.

Hey ladies!
I really need some advice here. My partner and I are trying to conceive—this is our very first attempt! My last period started on July 1st, and we had sex on July 25th.
I took a home pregnancy test yesterday using my second morning pee, but it came back negative (so bummed!). Shortly after that, I started getting these intense cramps—way stronger than my usual period cramps—plus a killer headache (though maybe that’s just because of the humidity here in Atlanta?). A few hours later, I noticed a little spotting, so I figured my period was finally arriving. But then everything just stopped. Usually, once it starts, it's a heavy flow within a few hours, but now there's nothing. No more pain, no more cramping.
My doctor is actually away on vacation and won't be back until the end of the month. So, what should I do?
Should I take another test? If so, how many days should I wait?
Or should I just head in for a blood test?😢
Also, does anyone have a recommendation for a good private OBGYN?
My cycle is pretty irregular, too.

Just take another test, but make sure to use your first morning urine.

Joshua Clark29, if she was sitting at a 1.7 on her last cycle and the ratio hit 25, there’s just no logic in thinking she’s still fertile. It’s too late for conception at that point; the body has already moved on and started prepping for the next cycle.

But hey, maybe double-check the math.

See? I called it. Just like that. 😉 I told them there was zero chance. Just straight up said it wasn't happening.

Can someone please tell me if running a temperature of 98.6°F for a few days now could actually impact my chances of getting pregnant? I dealt with a stomach bug about two days ago—it only lasted a day, but my baseline temperature just won't drop back down to my usual 97.3°F.
My last period started on July 19th.

Thanks

Taylor Swift, just buy a test or go see a doctor...

Alright, thanks. Honestly, though, I think it might be a bit too early to run a test; my cycle usually runs on a 35-day loop. But hey, I appreciate the advice regardless.

Hold on. Based on what you just said, there’s nothing conclusive here. You’d need to wait at least a few days after your period is late before you can actually tell if you're pregnant...

It's way too early for a test. Just hang tight—if I end up running behind schedule in a few days, then you can go ahead and run it

None of this is a reliable symptom yet; a temperature reading doesn't actually mean anything in this context. You should wait until the first day of your missed period before taking a test. Until then, nothing will give you a definitive answer as to whether you are pregnant...

Yeah, I’m definitely going to have to sit tight for a bit; it’s clearly way too early to tell
. My temperature hit 98.6, which might mean I'm ovulating, so that probably explains why my basal temp spiked... but honestly, who knows? I'll just wait and see.

It looks like a ghost town in here, but I’ll say it anyway: I’m staying hopeful. I’m picking up a test tomorrow. I plan on testing early Sunday morning. I really need my period to arrive this Sunday. Nothing hits me harder than right before my cycle starts, but I did notice some light red spotting about five days ago. Hmm...

Save that test money for better days ahead! ☕ 😉
