crimsonhawk23 said:The human body—where the virus actually lives—is way hotter than 23°C, so by that logic, it shouldn't even survive in us. But somehow, against all odds, it does.

I have no clue where this nonsense keeps coming from... 🤦

You've got it wrong—she specifically said it isn't resistant to higher temperatures!

Outside the host, it’s basically "crystallized" in its capsid, so heat just speeds up the processes that tear it apart.

Inside the body, the virus takes on a different form—its RNA is tucked inside cells, replicating away at standard body temperature.

Then I guess you could also throw in the genocide carried out by Imperial Russia in Siberia... ☕

P.S.
The Turks have chimed in too, talking about "undue conquests"... oh my God... 🤦

You're drifting off topic. This discussion is about the friction between the USA and Turkey.
It’s not like he’s digging up old dirt on Russia—or vice versa.

Instead of coddling a key ally, the Americans are letting their Congress patients extort them for no reason. They've lost touch with reality—it's like they're ripping off tactics from the Third Reich, treating allies like vassals who don't deserve anything in return. Everything runs on dictates and pressure now. But they've backed themselves into a corner; there isn't much breathing room left with the leader over there. Either they bite their tongue and back off, or they'll end up buying whatever scraps come out of those Turkish bases.
“We've hit a snag with the power unit—specifically the hybrid components—and there's an insulation failure on the car,” explained Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto.

“We had to call him in immediately for safety. It’s a damn shame, really, since the pit lane was only 100 meters away, but prioritizing Sebastian Vettel's safety was the only move to make.

If the issue had just been about the car itself, they might have picked a different spot to pull over, but this was a direct order to stop the second possible because of the risk involved.”

They would've been better off if they'd avoided the VSC—which they clearly could have—but they chose to pull him in to protect Sebastian Vettel from a potential electric shock. Honestly, props to them for not gambling with his life just to reach the pits; even if it cost them the race. 👍 Safety First.
Sebastian Vettel went against the team orders, but at least he didn't take out Charles Leclerc in the process. If he hadn't pulled up, he might've still been able to block Lewis Hamilton later on when those soft tires came into play—and since that would've happened further down the line, maybe a 1-2 finish would have stayed on the table.

Now, if he intentionally triggered the VSC, we're looking at a massive problem, but I highly doubt that's the case. If he just stops dead like that for no reason, his career is basically over on the spot.
stormybadger8 said:This Leclerc guy is a total jerk...

Ever since this race, I actually like him even more than Alonso😍
—plus his manager and his old man Jean Todt too.☕

He’s a real fighter when it comes to whining and crying over the team radio just to steal a position.👍
But the second he needs to close the gap or make a move, he suddenly plays nice and disappears.🤦
What an embarrassment—he can't even manage to overtake Bottas.😵

Sebastian Vettel would probably have had a better shot at passing Bottas in today's mess than Leclerc, who was way too aggressive in those opening laps without any DRS.
What a circus. If there had been an SC, it’s a Ferrari win—but with the VSC, we’re looking at a Mercedes 1-2. 😁Everything just depends on where they decide to park Vettel—if they even bother to park him at all.

And looks like Ferra finally choked; I guess they're starting to pay the price for pushing it too hard back at Spa.
Raymond Anderson4 said:Red Bull gave us false hope on Friday. Some articles hinted at new aero tweaks around the engine, but by the end of the weekend, Red Bull—or rather Max—clarified that while they did some minor engine work, it didn't actually change the power output.
So, the qualifying deficit isn't exactly a shocker—it’s just business as usual.

Same old story: falling behind in qualifying. They mentioned they're running the Spec-4 engine, which they've used before anyway. Maybe they're saving themselves for that big race in Suzuka where the new fuel arrives—or maybe they just went back to an older setup today?

Since Verstappen was basically destined to start six or more spots back (maybe even ninth) regardless, the real focus should be on race trim and overall pace. Still, being 0.6 seconds off isn't exactly nothing. If he manages to clear those three Renault-powered cars at the start, he might find himself hunting down the Mercedes-Benz cars on mediums 😁. Or, he'll just pull his trademark messy start and dive into Turn 1—he always seems to struggle when he's starting on the outside.

It should be a tactical chess match. And don't forget about the TR and Red Bull cars sitting at the back of the pack, slicing through the slower teams just for a little bit of early-race fun.
wiredfalcon2 said:the weather reports are calling for epic rain on Saturday, but apparently it clears up by 3 PM:
https://www.yr.no/place/Russia/Krasn...ochi/long.html

Maybe it’ll actually hit qualifying around 2 PM.
And then the race is at 1:10 PM on Sunday—just so nobody loses their mind.🙂
Google says there's a chance of rain this weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway🎉 If it doesn't hit during the race, at least qualifying and practice look wet—which might actually make things interesting and unpredictable for once—given how much chaos rain throws at the grid.

I bet the guys in red are praying for a dry track right about now...

Chloe Nguyen21 said:Oh yeah, super easy. I mean, they'll probably start cranking out parts for the F-22 Raptor by tomorrow morning at this rate. 😁 I guess the Russians and the Chinese are just dying to share all their top-secret tech with a certain unreliable leader whose economy is basically sliding toward a total meltdown. Honestly, Americans don't even need to lift a finger. The Turks will probably handle Erdogan themselves... the flag is getting pretty close.☕

They could just sell American secrets to the Chinese and Russ since they're being kicked out of the project anyway. That is, if they're actually trusted to build components involving high-level tech in the first place.

Amy Rogers6 said:Look, you’re totally overshooting it here. Sure, Turkey isn't exactly Germany when it comes to high-end engineering and tech, but you're exaggerating big time. If China, Russia, or anyone else gives them the green light to develop new tech in those plants, they'll bridge that gap in no time. Knowing Erdogan's political track record, you can bet your ass he’s already dangling some bait in front of potential future partners. The guy's a damn judo master—not that I like him, far from it—but you have to admit, he’s a hell of a player.

I think the safest bet for the US is just taking out the Sultan. Things are sliding downhill fast for them—I’d wager they try something within the next year. Only this time, a coup won't work; they’ve bled too much strength over the long haul to pull that off. They'll have to play the opposition card and lean heavily on Erdogan's blatant corruption.☕

They've got their own defense industry anyway—helicopters, drones, missiles, they even put together those F-16s of theirs—so they'll find work, if not for others, then for themselves. Unless, of course, we're talking about gear that's too niche and useful only for the American military-industrial complex.

Trump is playing a similar game now, like he did with China. But people have seen his playbook by now. A little stick first, then the carrot—an invitation to the negotiating table; basically, "hey, maybe you could sell or return that S-400 so we can actually talk."😬 An attempt at regime change seems unlikely though—that probably won't go down easy since the Sultan will be watching his back after everything. Not before the next elections, anyway.

The US is looking at a half-billion dollar bill right out of the gate just to move production back home.

That $9 billion figure for Turkey is just the *projected revenue* over the life of the F-35 program—not necessarily lost money, provided we actually repurpose that workforce and those factories for something else down the line.

Honestly, I think the real sting will be the F-35 units they likely already paid for but now won't see. I highly doubt the US government is planning on issuing any refunds.

Mexico takes the win 🙂 🎉

The USA blew a few decent chances during the match—just missed opportunities, really—but you have to admit, Mexico scored a beauty:

Honestly, it's great—highly recommend.

It’s been forever since I’ve seen a heist thriller that actually feels grounded. No superhero antics, no kung-fu nonsense, and no Rambo-style bullet dodging—just a story that stays close to reality for once.

I’ve gotta point out how @Antilles keeps relentlessly trolling everyone about Iranian mullahs and Ayatollahs over in the Syria thread—which, frankly, isn't even the right place for an argument about Iran.
Is there actually a plan to sanction this kind of behavior, or is management just waiting for us to report it? If it's the latter, let's start flagging it.
Justin Gatlin—just like everyone else—has been chasing Usain Bolt since back in '04 or '05. You’ve gotta hand it to him, though; the guy’s persistence is wild, staying in the game this long despite those doping scandals nearly nuking his whole career.

Year after year, Bolt just seems to be losing that top gear—probably lacks the drive now, and honestly, he likely isn't training hard enough to fight off old age anymore. It’s a decent time to call it quits. He didn't take the gold, but he doesn't look too heartbroken about it either—I mean, he still walked away with the bronze.

Maybe they were the greatest ever, but I’d personally call them out for being total thugs back in the day—especially that frontman, Bata Karabatic. They didn't have any other way to get what they wanted besides picking fights. And honestly? The Norwegians never stood a chance.
World Cup Handball: The Final Stretch in Other Sports ·
I’m not even watching. It’d be a hell of a story if they choked at home like they did during the last soccer EP—an underdog pulling off a miracle—but the odds are slim. Besides, the French got a great draw, even looking at a final where they’d face a much weaker opponent. The two teams that could have actually given them trouble—Germany and Denmark—both ended up getting knocked out. We wouldn't have stood much of a chance anyway.
Kudos to those gritty Norwegians—they really dug deep. Huge props to their goalie, too, for basically bailing them out of a hole today.

Look, I disagree with wiredseal7—in a spot like that, you don't hand the ball to a guy who just blew a penalty. You risk throwing away a lead we actually held late in the game, and those Norwegians aren't going to miss a gift like that in overtime. We played like absolute amateurs, and honestly, we deserve to get crushed by the Dutch tomorrow. As for the ref? He should be fired on the spot for how badly he handled this match.

Then again, even if we’d moved on, the French would’ve just handed us a lesson in the finals anyway, so I’m not losing sleep over it. This wasn't even the worst heartbreak we've faced in the playoffs—certainly nothing compared to the disaster during the last Olympics.
Handball is turning into a track meet more chaotic than soccer. You score a goal and immediately face a fast break—what even is that? The Danes started this trend, and now everyone’s just copying their playbook—except our guys, who basically just specialize in committing offensive fouls. They need to scrap this quick restart from center court immediately.
