And he thinks using numbers alone proves who’s actually elite—like trying to claim Michael Jordan is just on par with Scottie Pippen or something. Honestly, I don't even bother digging through those spreadsheets. I don't need them. I had the privilege of watching Jordan play for years, and in my book, he's the greatest to ever step on a court. It's like how Ivo Balic is the greatest handball player ever, at least to me. Now, why don't you try pulling up Karabatkov's stats for me? 😵
Why is Jordan the GOAT? Because whether it was the first shot or the last shot of the game, he executed it with the exact same precision. You won't find that kind of grit in any statistical database. To actually grasp something like that, you need a baseline understanding of the game—maybe you've even played a bit yourself, even if it was just amateur league stuff. You have to realize that athletes aren't robots or computers; hardware and software metrics don't tell the whole story.
rowdytinker3 said:But honestly, who cares? It’s just more noise for the average American to obsess over. Besides, Babe Ruth played baseball, not football. I'm pretty sure the point was about Babe Ruth.
Look, that's why I brought up Europe—it's broader than just the US. Why should we care more about what some guy in America thinks compared to what a Dane, a Frenchman, or a German might say? Believe it or not, Ballack probably has more fans in Sweden or Denmark than he does here in the States.
Yeah, he played baseball, but bringing up the NFL was just a way to drive home that "American sports are unbeatable" trope, where everyone acts like the US champion is basically the world champion.
Carl Mendoza4 said:Well, that’s how it sounds. Like this one buddy of mine who was such a massive Dikembe Mutombo fan he practically developed an ulcer just watching NBA broadcasts.😁
Either we had the exact same friend, or way more people ended up with ulcers.😁 😁
I remember being at sports bars all the time—rooms full of anti-Chicago Bulls fans, sitting there at 2:00 AM biting their nails, only to watch their team choke in the end anyway.😁
Pippen 0? Are you talking about the guy who claimed Toni Kukoč couldn't even guard a folding chair? 😁
And honestly, why isn't anyone here even mentioning Toni Kukoč? 😁
He was easily one of the top six players in the NBA. 🙏 😁
rowdytinker3, forget your opinion—the reality is that nobody outside of Hollywood would have ever heard of those babies if they weren't playing in the States.
You’re definitely one of those Utah Jazz or Seattle SuperSonics fans, Jason Fisher78, who spent the entire nineties getting absolutely schooled by Jordan.😛
rowdytinker3 said:Give me a break. Some random American is going to think Ivan Balic is some massive superstar. Honestly, you guys are talking nonsense.
Look, I don't give a damn what Americans think about anything, so why should I care what some average Joe in the States thinks about Ivan Balic? As long as Balic has made a name for himself in Europe, that's what matters. Let the Americans keep obsessing over those degenerate players in the NFL—half of them probably have a criminal record waiting for them. Don't get me wrong, I love the NFL, but seriously, who cares what the average American thinks?
It’s funny how Packa limited his definition of "elite clubs" to just Kiel and Ciudad Real.
He could have thrown Barcelona in there too, since they don't exactly have any Americans on the roster either.
It’s just your typical desperate attempt to manufacture an alibi.
So now we're supposed to believe Danak is running both Kiel and Ciudad Real? And don't even get me started on Mexico. Starting next year, Kiel will basically be riding on the backs of Ilica and Vujina. Mexico is a global superpower, give me a break.
What a load of nonsense—just a bunch of ridiculous logical fallacies and excuses meant to cover your tracks.
It feels like Packa has been cranking out nothing but excuses for Keta lately. Honestly, it’s probably because someone paid for his flight to Sweden along with Keta and Gobac 😁
When the US plays defense the way they actually should, nobody like Sweden or Iceland can even get close to scoring. But the second they switch over to that pathetic block, it’s game over—everything just slides right through.
What kind of defense is this, where everything just hinges on whether or not Gojun decides to show up and block anything?
They aren't moving their feet at all. They're just standing there, static and sluggish. It’s honestly nauseating to watch.
It’s not even about him being indecisive; half his attacks are just pure drives to the rim 😁
But hey, he always had a jumper ready, so he could punish them from deep if he had to.
The guy gets better every single year. Two or three years ago, he was playing so timidly, but look at him now—attacking the line, setting up the wings, actually being part of the flow. He’s already a better offensive threat than Pere. If he could just tighten up his defense... he’d be an absolute superstar at his position.
Everyone is obsessed with Eugene, but honestly, Buntic is the real brains of the operation. Eugene just knows how to shoot and... keep shooting. Buntic is such a pleasant surprise; he used to seem a bit raw 😁 but now his game is so mature and calculated, perfect for the high-level 🙏
It sucks that he isn't moving on from Ademar, though maybe the money situation will force his hand. I truly believe he belongs in a much higher-tier club. As for Mike, I hope he gets out of Celje ASAP. That club is wasting talent because of all the chaos happening behind the scenes there.
Carl Garcia22, I think you were talking about Terzic recently, and I actually thought he might become something special. I was even leaning toward him being recruited for the US national team. But looking at Buntic today, he’s twice the player Terzic is (even if they play different positions).
It’s the same story with Prce-Lac. Back in the junior leagues, Lackovic was basically handing Nicholas towels on the sidelines, and now look at the gap between them. Sure, Prce is a solid club player—maybe even the leading scorer in the NBA?—but he’s still nowhere near Lackovic's level.
Rebecca Rivera93 said:I'm curious to hear what you guys think, so don't be shy.
Not much to report here. I used to work for Euroherc (which is basically the American version of Agram 😁 ) back when Buntic and Mirko were just starting to make a name for themselves. And Vukic 😁
I remember watching Mirko shut down over 20 shots against Barcelona. That was the moment I realized he’d be the first choice for the national team.
As for Buntic—well, I said what I said. Seeing Buntic actually pull off a move like that is about as rare as seeing Halley's Comet... or whatever that thing is called. 😁
