Frank Alvarez8 said:Back in the 60s, the whole industry jumped on the bandwagon by blaming cholesterol for heart disease, mostly because it was great for marketing. Meanwhile, research was already showing that homocysteine is just as much of a culprit—if not more so—but the food industry found the "cholesterol scare" way more profitable, so they pivoted everything toward those "low-fat" and "zero-cholesterol" products we see everywhere.

By the late 90s, homocysteine resurfaced as a major concern after years of epidemiological studies and lab tests backed it up. One way to manage high levels of homocysteine—which is an amino acid naturally produced when your body breaks down protein—is through B12 and folic acid, which help dial back its production. This is particularly vital for women on hormone replacement therapy, those planning to get pregnant, or smokers who might be running low on folate.

I actually thought you might finally say something intelligent before you went and disappointed me again in the next thread... 😁

I’ve been digging into this whole cholesterol hype lately and I’m currently working my way through "the cholesterol lie" by Walter Hartenbach, which lays out several points:
- plenty of cholesterol claims are just plain wrong
- the side effects of lowering cholesterol are being swept under the rug
- most of these studies don't hold up to actual scientific scrutiny
- there's evidence that cholesterol drugs might actually increase the risk of heart attacks and cancer
- Big Pharma fakes the statistics
- a lot of doctors are completely in the dark about how cholesterol metabolism actually works
- the media just parrots whatever the industry feeds them
- scientific institutes are often bankrolled by pharmaceutical companies
- TV shows broadcast nothing but misinformation
- viewers are being intentionally misled
- real scientists rarely get a platform
- the industry is more than willing to pay for favorable stats
- cholesterol isn't the cause of coronary artery disease
- many doctors actually prefer having lifelong patients
- the blatant abuse of power within the pharma industry
- stress can drive up cholesterol levels
- your ability to function effectively drops along with your cholesterol levels
- DIET ALONE BARELY TOUCHES CHOLESTEROL LEVELS

There's plenty more where that came from, but enough about the book. In my own experience, talking to people who managed to bring their sky-high cholesterol and triglyceride numbers back to normal within a few months, I've heard firsthand accounts regarding various drugs and diets. Based on all that, I have more than enough data to speak on this, including how soy proteins can impact the whole situation—even if mainstream medicine only acknowledges it when their sponsors allow it... 😁 😉

Megan Morales5 said:The FDA forgot to mention—though maybe we were reading different reports—that about 90% of the soy grown in the US is genetically modified, which likely includes what you're selling in your supplements. So much for health.

Q: Does it contain GMOs?
A: NO. Our soy isn't genetically modified. We use "hybrid soy with preserved identity." We have contracts with farms all over the world. The soy seed used is a hybrid grown from original, natural soy seeds that we’ve strengthened over generations to be more pest-resistant (which is why there's no need for pesticide treatments).

I remember having a mountain of questions myself, just like everyone else here, but through enough persistence and digging, I managed to find plenty of answers; honestly, it's one of the reasons I'm heading out to the States in a few days, just to see some of this firsthand... 🙂

ps: I don't want to name any specific products, so please stop steering the conversation that way (I don't owe anyone an explanation) .. 😎

I’m not using him for any personal gain or anything along those lines... you can interpret it however you want, I suppose, but everything looks different when you view it from a different angle; if your perspective is narrow, you're always going to end up with these kinds of conclusions, seeing far less than what's actually there. 🙂

My personal savior, apparently.
I’m heading out to do some digging now, and I don't plan on dealing with any more headaches.

Maybe the headache comes from thinking too much. 🤔

Megan Morales5 said:I have nothing against respecting other cultures or their wisdom, but I didn't grow up in China; I grew up here, which is why I feel like the things I actually need to feel okay are right in my own backyard. Most people just can't handle that because it isn't EXOTIC enough 🙄 for them, so they go chasing after distant, mystical solutions instead. Personally, if my stomach starts acting up, I’m reaching for chamomile tea since it grows naturally in this soil—it feels like there was some kind of divine logic in pairing certain plants with the people living in specific regions of the country.

True, though it seems he forgot to mention whose food will be sitting on our grocery shelves and all the various toxins we'll end up swallowing in the process.. 😁

my grandfather ended up selling poison from those containers of yours:
it nearly cost him his life.
so just stay calm.😛

I don't know the specifics of what happened in your situation, but I'm fairly certain any expert would quickly pinpoint exactly what went wrong... 🙂

For instance:
if someone has never dealt with a headache in their entire life, but they carry some extra weight, and then once they start a weight loss program they suddenly get a headache, the immediate reaction might be pretty negative if they think along these lines:
"What did you give me to make my head hurt when this has never happened before? This must be poison."

In that specific scenario, the fat cells are starting to break down, and since toxins and waste products often bind to those fat cells, they get released into the system and cause issues, which is actually quite easy to manage by simply drinking more plain water to flush the waste out of the body... honestly, about 80% of headaches come down to that exact issue—just a lack of hydration from clean, fresh water.. 🙂

At the end of the day, people tend to fear what they don't understand, forming "opinions" based on nothing but assumptions and prejudices; it’s easy to say what you said, but every question has an answer if you actually bother to look for it, rather than just taking the easy way out and blaming everything else.. 😎
Samuel Lewis3 said:I still think Jay-Z should just cough up the cash and pay for a banner ad properly, instead of this shady way of hunting people down in the shadows. Even local plumbers don't try to advertise on Yelp for free when they can be such a lifesaver when your water heater blows out!
As for how effective those products actually are, I haven't really formed an opinion... and frankly, I don't care much to...

I get where you're coming from, but life isn't always black and white, and sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between apples and oranges... why is that?

I started posting here talking about health in general terms, without naming names or pushing any specific brands, because you hit the nail on the head—the goal here isn't to make a sale, it's just to provide timely info that might help someone dealing with their own health issues...
It makes me wonder, if I worked at Pfizer and mentioned a medication they manufacture, would that be flagged as advertising too? Maybe I could save a life by sharing accurate information, but am I supposed to stay silent just to keep the "barking dogs" quiet? 😠

And even if you refuse to mention a company name or promote anyone publicly, people will still slide into your DMs, and once you tell them what's up, they start trashing you in public. What then? Do you just sit there and take the insults, or do you defend yourself and end up on a path of no return?

There are plenty of specific drug names and various products mentioned on this forum, with everyone offering suggestions and recommendations, but the whole point is lost when someone buys something without having the slightest clue what it actually does...
If you're going to use medication, you need to understand how it works within your body so you can get the most out of it. That's vital. It's your right to know how your medicine affects you.

And talk to your doctors about it.

Doctors write the prescriptions, and you really ought to ask them two specific questions regarding your diet while you're on the medication.

1. Are there certain things in my diet I should avoid RIGHT NOW—while I'm taking this medication?
2. Are there specific food ingredients I should be eating MORE OF RIGHT NOW—while I'm on this medication?

YOU should ask your doctors that! They're the ones who should have the answers. 🤔

The FDA recently gave the green light to certain health claims regarding how soy protein might help lower the risk of coronary heart disease. Basically, the agency concluded that if you eat foods containing soy protein alongside a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, you could see a reduction in your risk by lowering your blood cholesterol levels. To actually get those benefits, you’d need at least 6.25 grams of soy protein per serving, assuming you meet other criteria too, though research suggests hitting at least 25 grams a day is the real sweet spot for seeing results.

Studies have indicated that swapping out proteins from milk or meat for soy protein can effectively drive down those cholesterol numbers.

Coronary heart disease remains a massive public health headache here in the US, leading to more deaths than any other condition. The main culprits behind these issues are high overall cholesterol and elevated levels of LDL—that "bad" cholesterol we hear so much about.
Soy seems like a solid choice for anyone keeping an eye on their vitals, especially when it comes to protecting the heart.

Anthony Rodriguez58, you hit the nail on the head; I’m right there with you on those suggestions.

I see it all the time—people get so desperate to shed a few pounds or trim down their waistlines that they just stop eating entirely. This kind of extreme calorie cutting usually ends up causing a massive DEFICIENCY IN VITAL NUTRIENTS, which doesn't just wreck your health, it creates a metabolic IMBALANCE that actually slows down fat loss or, ironically, triggers weight gain.

It’s what we call the “YO-YO” effect, where the weight you fought so hard to lose comes rushing back the second you stop the "diet," often leaving you heavier than when you started. Then comes the next crash diet, and the cycle repeats until you're just constantly gaining. To actually break this exhausting loop, you have to consistently fuel your body with the right amount of high-quality protein every single day.

For women specifically, these starvation diets can trigger pancreatic issues and messy hormonal shifts, which is why soy protein is such a vital tool; most gynecologists nowadays actually emphasize how necessary it is for maintaining balance. 😎

- there is evidence suggesting soy protein helps prevent breast cancer..
- it contains all 9 essential amino acids
- it nourishes your cells so you aren't constantly fighting hunger

Some people just can't seem to wrap their heads around how things actually work.

It’s never about the dog barking; it’s about the whole neighborhood looking for a reason to react.. 😁
One person starts making noise, and suddenly everyone else feels obligated to join the chorus... 😁 😁 😁
We really are a pathetic bunch of people, I can't even deal with it... 😠

I was just sitting here waiting for some self-proclaimed genius to step up and start spitting nonsense about things they don't even grasp. Look, I don't understand everything either, but if you actually care, you try to focus and learn something new; otherwise, you just head over to Fidelity, move on with your life, and stick to commenting on things you actually know something about. But apparently, that’s too much to ask for most people—it's much easier to be loud with your stupidity and constant bickering than it is to write one coherent, thoughtful thought. 👎

At the end of the day, even if "J-C" started peddling some "miracle supplements meant to boost everything under the sun," I wouldn't hold it against him if it genuinely helped someone. After all, the whole point of this forum is health, isn't it?

It’s a good thing we didn't have to wait for mainstream Western medicine to finally take an interest in how plants affect the body; instead, nutritionists jumped on the bandwagon twenty-five years ago, and now we actually have some tangible health benefits to show for it. 🙂

Since psoriasis is an autoimmune issue, you really have to focus on boosting your immunity and keeping your diet clean.
The Mayo Clinic is actually world-renowned for this kind of thing if you want to look them up.
Antioxidants help quite a bit, but you should probably cut out meat and dairy entirely. Stick to fish and plenty of healthy fatty acids.
Evening primrose oil is an absolute necessity.
Then there's zinc, magnesium, and vitamins A, C, and E—though you shouldn't touch Vitamin E if you're planning on getting pregnant in the next six months.
And obviously, just stay away from stress, smoking, and alcohol.

I'm with you on this; all of this just reinforces my own theory... 😎

THE TRADITIONAL DIETARY BLUEPRINT: DAILY INTAKE GUIDELINES

1. FRUIT AND VEGETABLES = 5 to 9 servings
2. GRAINS (bread, rice, pasta...) = 6 to 10 servings
3. CALCIUM-RICH MEALS = 3 to 5 servings (adults)
(milk, cheese, yogurt...) 5 to 7 servings (children)

The old-school nutritionists claim we should be eating like this every single day.

Not only would that eat up your entire life just prepping meals, but the calorie count alone would be exhausting.

REMEMBER:
EXCESS FAT AND CHRONIC STRESS ARE THE TWO BIGGEST THREATS TO OUR HEALTH AND LONGEVITY!

CHRONIC STRESS:
Back pain, headaches, snapping at your kids—all of this eventually wreaks havoc on your circulatory system, your vessels, and your blood pressure.

If we already know that ANGER AND WRATH directly sabotage OUR HEALTH—try to break the cycle.

The way out is simple: JUST SMILE.

A smile isn't just psychological; it actually helps PHYSIOLOGICALLY by affecting the brain and your blood vessels.
Even a forced, fake smile does something.
Every smile burns about 2 calories.
And when you smile, people tend to smile back.

Nutritional components (ingredients) that IMPACT STRESS:

VITAMIN B: It feeds the nervous system. Stress, unfortunately, drains B vitamins.

PLANT FIBER: Essential for digestion and preventing constipation.

PROTEINS:
- They require 9 ESSENTIAL AMINO ACIDS.
- How much protein do you actually need daily?
General recommendation: 1 g per kg of body weight (for a sedentary lifestyle)
up to 2 g per kg of body weight (for athletes)

But it needs to be pure protein; most cuts of meat carry at least 25% fat.

MOST PEOPLE AREN'T GETTING ENOUGH PROTEIN!

And those who do get it are usually consuming poor-quality proteins, which is what most modern food offers.

High-quality proteins must meet three specific criteria:
They contain:
1. ALL NINE ESSENTIAL AMINO ACIDS
2. Zero or minimal CHOLESTEROL
3. Zero or minimal SATURATED FATTY ACIDS

That is ONLY SOY! Soy is the only one that hits all three marks.

It’s good for everyone. Getting some of those proteins (soy) once a day is a smart move for anyone.

Nowadays, fast-food is everywhere. For people running on empty, it seems like the easy fix.
But fast-food is loaded with excess fat (cholesterol and saturated fats), too many calories, salt, and sugar (in the bread)—while lacking plant fiber, vitamins, minerals, trace elements, and Phytochemicals.

Phytochemicals are the science of today. It studies the chemical reactions occurring within plants and how they interact with our cells when we consume them. It's essentially the study of traditional herbal wisdom through a modern lens.

We all try to eat well. But let's be real—we don't have total control. We're stuck buying whatever is available on the shelves, and most of us are perpetually short on time.

When we buy groceries and cook them at home, we often end up stripping away the nutritional value, even though we really ought to be eating things as fresh and raw as possible.
For instance, if fruit sits in your kitchen for just one day, it can lose up to 80% of its vitamin content.

Ask yourself: Is our food
- FRESH?
- NUTRIENT-DENSE?
- HIGH IN FIBER?

Most people don't even realize how much their diet is wrecking them.
A car won't run without fuel. A car with bad fuel won't run well.
And food is your fuel.

It isn't really about whether she knows what she's doing or not; at the end of the day, it's just about whether the meal hits the spot for me... 😁

"To cut down on calories: try frying, baking, or grilling"

That’s actually solid advice, since grilling or charbroiling meat allows a lot of that heavy exterior fat to just melt away instead of soaking everything in oil or lard... though I suppose some people still have a weakness for fried food. 😁

I’ll be the first to admit I’m no gourmet chef, but I certainly have an appreciation for a decent meal when it comes along. 🙂

Fine, go ahead and organize a Spanish Inquisition right here on this forum, burn us all at the stake since we have heretical ideas about health and refuse to follow your dogma.

I spent some time traveling through Spain once and didn't run into any inquisitions, so are you saying they moved their operations here to this forum? 😁
