I'm with you on that! 😬
But honestly, maybe this is for the best. Just imagine the nightmare of watching some low-budget, amateurish show about movies where you have to grit your teeth through the sheer frustration every single time you tune in... 😵
Digestive issues or something else? in Health ·
talia said:Look, you don't just pop pills for this. It’s all about fixing your diet! Certain foods can trigger these issues—usually stuff like coffee, sugar, alcohol, chocolate, or processed junk like chips... though everyone is different, so you really have to figure out what specifically triggers your body.

Exactly.

I’m honestly wondering why this is such a hot topic when there are only 7 replies... 😵

Sadly, drugs just took him away 🙂
Phobias... in Health ·
Over the last few years, I’ve developed this totally panicky, uncontrollable fear of lightning. 😱
I can't quite put my finger on why. I grew up in the Midwest where massive summer storms are basically part of life. It’s not actually the thunder that gets to me—it’s the flash and the sudden burst of light from the strike itself... I start shaking and just can't act normal. I have to squeeze my eyes shut and take these really deep breaths... You can probably imagine how much everyone mocks me for it... It hits me wherever I am during a storm, even if I'm safely indoors. It’s honestly such a huge burden on my life... 😢
How do I make this stop? I’m constantly hunting for some logical, scientific explanation that will convince my brain that lightning isn't going to strike me directly. Does anyone out there have any smart advice?

As for Sean Penn—he's great if he's working with a director who can actually rein him in. Otherwise, he starts acting way too pretentious... ☕

Thanks for understanding! 🙏 🙏 🙏

Poor Chris, he really was such a talented actor—I’d even go as far as to say he didn't deserve to be stuck in the shadow of his dull and untalented brother 😢 he was way better than him... 🙂
The truth about the Oscars in Movies ·
Douglas Reed7 said:What part do you actually enjoy? Overanalyzing the actors or listening to the host's witty little remarks? By the way, I wonder how much money the organizers raked in this year...
Woody Allen, Marlon Brando, George C. Scott 🙏
Any real movie buff will know exactly what I mean...

Oh, come on... 😬 there's really no need for the sarcasm. It's not like I spent my life studying how the money flows, the overacting, or all those potential rigged awards... I just sit back and enjoy the spectacle! It’s like watching a mindless summer blockbuster—you just relax, soak it all in, and don't bother turning your brain on... mmmm... 🥳
ps: those guys you mentioned are famous for boycotting the Academy Awards, hmm... just a classic way to grab some attention...🙂

Kate Winslet has actually never won an Oscar in her life. She’s had a few nominations here and there, but nothing quite stuck...
For this specific film, she picked up a Critics Choice Award, a Critics Choice Award, and a Golden Globe Award. 🙂

Robert Altman to receive an Honorary Oscar in Movies ·
Justin Patel said:Maybe the Academy should just start giving Oscars to the people who actually deserve them from the jump, instead of scrambling to hand out honorary awards at the last minute.
Idiots...

I'm with you on this one!😬

On another note, I absolutely love Robert Altman, and I'm happy to see the Academy finally making this move (even if they're a bit late to the party)! 👍

P.S. Robert Altman is Robert Altman—he can call the shots however he wants. Honestly, he could probably talk me into anything! 🤣

meddo said:The movie was alright for me. It’s just a shame they didn't focus more on all of Chicago so you could actually see what a total dump it is, because the vibe of the film really called for it.
And man, that guy—the debt collector/dealer combo, the bald guy? He's incredible! I think he's been in those Danish movies with Kim Bodni. In one scene, he even speaks Danish!

I'm with you on that, man...😬 👍

I actually love hitting up the movie theater by myself. I’m a huge film buff and I can't stand it when people won't stop whispering or rambling in my ear while I'm trying to watch 🙂
unless they're about half as interesting as the movie, of course 😬

I totally get that... 😂 😂 😂
Me too... 😬
Psoriasis [PLEASE READ FIRST POST!] in Health ·
nimbledriver81 said:My take comes from someone who knows a bit more about nutrition than what you'd find in some random grocery store pamphlet. For instance, if you eat fish, you don't need omega-3 capsules because those fatty acids are naturally found in North Atlantic fish. You get your vitamins and minerals from fruits and veggies. You get fiber from produce and whole grains too. I mean, who are you trying to sell this stuff to? Anyone actually serious about their health can manage without magic potions. I stay healthy without any supplements, even though I have a genetic predisposition for psoriasis. I had a flare-up on my elbow last year (probably just stress), but it's gone now. And no, I don't go chugging "natural" remedies. Sometimes I'll grab a drink or have some alcohol. Chocolate is my absolute favorite food.

I totally agree! 😬
Macgregor, please come back down to earth, because only those of us living with psoriasis truly understand how it feels. ☕
In the ten years since I was diagnosed, all over my body, people have tried to sell me every miracle cure, vitamin, mineral, or soap imaginable—especially those folks who make a living peddling "all-natural" dietary supplements. Not a single one worked for me, except for the Eloc cream my dermatologist prescribed on day one, plus plenty of good old-fashioned sunshine and the ocean breeze.
See, after living with this since I was eighteen, I've learned that my psoriasis is triggered by stress, or basically anything that causes my immune system to dip. For example, I completely flare up during my period, even if I felt perfectly "clear" just days before. The same thing happens whenever I catch the flu or an infection—the second my immunity takes a hit, my skin goes wild. And thank God my immune system is practically seasoned from all the antibiotics doctors pumped me full of throughout my childhood for every little sniffle... 😠
It's true that anyone dealing with a chronic condition should try to live healthy, which means eating well, but that doesn't mean you need to swallow a handful of pills every single day. Just eat nutritious, high-fiber foods, watch the junk food, don't overdo the booze, and you're set. 😬 It sounds easy, but how do you actually control stress? 😕 I'm a very sensitive person, and that's becoming a bigger challenge in my life. That's why I think you have to learn to manage your emotions—either through sheer willpower or maybe some calming aids (like Persen at least). Personally, my go-to is a little beer (and I actually take it for medicinal reasons because I deal with kidney stones 😬). Before anyone tries to call me a mindless drinker, let me be clear: I have tried every supplement under the sun, and even when I put my faith in Omega-3, nothing changed. My skin only settles down once I use my cream or spend time in the sun (whether it's a nice afternoon out or just a few minutes in a tanning bed). In the winter, soaking in a bath with sea salt works wonders too. I'm repeating myself: I have ten years of experience here. After a decade, I simply know that this is a condition my own body triggers, and I have to live with it. I haven't completely given up hope that it might just vanish one day, but that depends entirely on me, not on some herbalist craze or similar phenomena.☕
Maybe what I said didn't come across quite right, but my heart was really just in helping those who’ve just been diagnosed and are feeling totally overwhelmed. I'm living proof that you can absolutely thrive with psoriasis! My best stretches—you know, without it—always happened when I was genuinely happy, stress-free, and finally learned to embrace myself... No matter how many weird looks you get from strangers, please don't hide away from the summer sun. The sunshine is truly your best friend!

Sending love to everyone! 😬
