Mistaken wire transfer/payment error in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
¨@brisktinker15 ... look, what you're dealing with has absolutely nothing to do with this discussion... from what I can gather, your whole situation is about being charged for a service that didn't even exist in the first place... but again, like I said, that's not what we're talking about here 🙂
I’ll leave it open for now, but I’m switching over to the BOK

She had a good laugh, mostly.

I mean, who's actually making sense here... you, or the lady at the Chase teller window?

Mark Sullivan62 said:So what do you think—which one of your favorite Bank of America branches would handle it? 🤣

Hand over data? 🤣 Please. I spent three days on the phone and couldn't even get a hold of some manager who was supposedly the only one authorized to approve anything... I mean, on day one she was stuck in meetings, day two she was out at the ranch, and by day three, she had already gone on maternity leave.

Then I tried sending an email... never got a single reply, let alone anything useful.

Oh yeah? So how does it look when the bank starts messing around with my own account, but suddenly refuses to find my money when it's sitting in someone else's?

Yeah, and here we go, another tense episode of CSI: Las Vegas—pardon me, more like CSI: Bank of America. 😂

And that’s where you left it? 🙂 ... Man, Mark, you're losing your edge, 🤣

Even with Chase, they have that option available, but there's a catch—it only works if you're registered as a business entity.

Thomas Fowler84 said:Naturally, the bank cannot simply hand over private data; imagine the chaos if banks routinely leaked their customers' personal information.

What is possible is filing a claim against an anonymous "offender" who misappropriated funds that don't belong to them (though technically, this doesn't qualify as a criminal offense).

P.S. Of course, the bank can contact the individual and act as a mediator to facilitate communication.

Look, I totally get it—customer privacy is a cornerstone of banking secrecy. Period. But for heaven's sake, I’m telling you, I know of at least one instance where it actually happened through legal channels in a very specific situation.

Mark Sullivan62 said:Oh, brilliant. Really. Now why don't you walk me through the logic of how you can just "reverse" a payment once it's already been cleared and posted to the recipient's account? Makes perfect sense, right?

I remember this one time I accidentally sent $67 over to the wrong checking account, and despite me fighting with Chase for an entire month, those funds vanished into thin air—never saw them again, and they wouldn't lift a finger to help.

So, if anyone can reverse a payment, why am I stuck in limbo? Aren't we all supposed to be equal under the law? At least, that's what the textbooks say.

They told me point-blank that they couldn't touch a single cent from someone else's checking account $67 without the owner giving the green light.

And when I actually asked them who the hell owns the account so I could go talk to them myself—since the bank obviously won't help—they had the nerve to tell me that was protected by banking privacy laws.

So, tell me, who's the crazy one here?

Look, in a situation like this, they absolutely should have handed over those details. Honestly, the standard procedure ought to be for the bank representative to reach out to the recipient directly. If that fails, and you make a formal inquiry, the bank (I’m pretty sure they’re legally obligated to, though I can't say for certain) should provide the info because that money clearly isn't the recipient's to keep. You have every right to sue them for it... I actually know someone who went through a similar mess once and it worked out...

So, how does a $1,000 deficit even make sense? I get it, you aren't going to get back every single cent you poured into a car, but you've still paid down a chunk of that loan...

Honestly, I still maintain that your current situation is the smarter, more cost-effective move...

Look, it doesn't cost you a dime to just pick up the phone. Actually, you should probably just drive down to the bank in person and lay it all out for them. Who knows? Maybe they have some kind of restructuring model or a way to work with you...

And this whole idea about moving across the country just because of your layoff? That’s a total non-starter. It won't change a thing. All you're doing is dragging out the misery and racking up relocation costs that are going to dwarf that $1,000 gap in no time.

Look, don't just sit there waiting for the sheriff to show up at your door and seize everything you own... that's a massive mistake. You’re just inviting a mountain of extra legal fees and penalties—which, let's be honest, I bet are absolutely staggering—and it's a total psychological nightmare. It's pure mental torture.

If I were in your shoes, I'd find a way to borrow some cash from someone you trust to wipe out that loan immediately. Sell your car if you have to, just get that money back to them and clear the slate.
Mortgage rates and advice in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Look, people... let's try to actually educate ourselves for once here. 😁

Mortgage-backed loans are NOT the same thing as standard residential mortgages => sure, you need property as collateral to get one, but we are talking about a strictly purpose-driven loan type here.

Then you have these other mortgage-backed instruments that function more like general-purpose credit => which brings us to the topic of Mortgage-Backed Securities

¨@fadedbear92 ... I moved my post over to this thread, but I honestly can't tell if you're talking about a mortgage here => so please, just clarify—are we discussing a specific home loan or just a general-purpose personal loan?

Kenneth Brooks5 said:checking my checking account-standing order

On March 13, 2009, someone accidentally dropped about $0.67 into my account—basically just some random person's paycheck.

Then, on September 19, 2009, the bank went ahead and reversed that whole $0.67
.
The thing is, nobody asked me for permission—not verbally, not in writing—and they didn't even bother to notify me that they were pulling the money back.

Is a bank actually allowed to do that when the cash had been sitting in my account for six days?

If they aren't allowed, can I demand that the money they snatched from my account be put back so I can donate it to charity instead? (They could just deposit it directly to the charity so I don't look like a jerk.)

My take is that once money sits in an account for six days, it belongs to the account holder. It’s straight-up rude that they didn't give me a heads-up.

If anyone knows the actual banking regulations regarding this kind of situation, let me know what you think.

Thanks

😂 😂

This isn't even funny anymore... it's actually pathetic. 😂

The bank just casually "corrects" their own mistake, and you're sitting there acting all polite because you think that after six days, that cash somehow magically became yours? Give me a break.

Honestly, I don't even think I have the patience to read the rest of this nonsense. 🙄

The interest rate on those supplemental premiums varies depending on which Zaba fan tier you’re in—which, if you ask me, sounds absolutely ridiculous 😂. Everything is laid out right there on their official websites... here is the link to the dynamic breakdown... and as for the Go! plan? I honestly don't think

brightorca10 said:hahaha...unbelievable...I seriously love it when people try to tell me what I need...I had such a massive letdown today...so, I started asking about a mortgage payment moratorium since I'm on maternity leave and my paycheck is basically gonna be the same amount as my monthly payment...and they were just so "helpful," telling me I can either pay ONLY the interest (which is basically 75% of the installment anyway) or I can give them an extra 3% APR on the total remaining balance (around $3667)...I mean, who actually thinks that's a good deal? Where's the benefit in that? Calling it a "moratorium" is a joke if it doesn't even actually defer the payments...and I was only looking for 6 months, not 10 years...honestly, I think I'll skip the freeze altogether. If I can swing $1,800, I might as well just pay the full $2,300 installment and call it a day.

Has anyone else dealt with this kind of nonsense? What ended up happening for you guys?🤷🤷🤷

Questions regarding the moratorium => please take those to the appropriate topic thread.
JPMorgan Chase Go!Card help? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Look, if you’ve got an installment plan set up on your credit card, you can't just walk up to the register and hope for the best. You have to explicitly tell the cashier, "I want to pay this in X installments." If you don't speak up, they're just going to swipe your card and charge you the full amount of $333 without a second thought. Then you're stuck dealing with those $333 payments through your bank—whether it's a fixed number of months or a percentage, depending on what kind of deal you struck when you first signed up for the card => and on top of all that, the bank starts tacking on interest charges every three months. It's a total headache if you aren't paying attention.

Steven Reed said:Both options function as bundled accounts (or rather, 😍 services where you pay a monthly fee to cover everything included in the package 😉)
The distinction lies in the fact that the basic banking assistants don't bundle credit cards—you can have them, sure, but they’ll hit you with an annual fee rather than being part of the flat monthly rate—whereas the premium bundles include one or more credit cards as part of the membership. There is also the matter of overdraft limits: the assistant tops out at $3333, while the premium tiers go up to $30,000 or even higher depending on which tier you pick (and, obviously, based on your salary). Then there's the interest rate on those negative balances—the premium bundles offer much lower rates—plus the number of fee-free transactions, which is higher in the bundles since, well, you're paying more for them. It goes on and on...
@Kimberly Nguyen sorry, I know this post is a bit of a mess, but take a look at the clock (😵) 😍

Look... I’ve read this over several times now and I swear, if you're kidding me, I just can't wrap my head around it. 🙄

Now I realize the problem is actually me—someone finally caught on to what Steven Reed was trying to say...

@Susan Ward4 ... worries are sweet, 😍 alright, honey-sweet 😍 when I spend my entire day dealing with nothing but breasts and diapers 🤣 😂 ... as for sex? Is that even something you can eat? 🤔
