If you’re just going to let that cash sit there gathering dust in a checking account => then go ahead and automate your cash flow. Just dump it back in immediately. But look, if you actually have a plan for that money—if you’re planning to put it to work, invest it, and actually grow it faster than the interest you're bleeding out on a loan => then by all means, grab that credit.
George Phillips said:So I went back and read through my loan contract—super carefully this time, specifically the one for the fund share pledge—and honestly, there’s zero mention of a margin call anywhere.
Basically, the bank uses shares worth xxxkn as collateral to pay out a max of 0,7xxxkn, which I guess just means they're covered even if the value drops by 30%.
The borrower's only job is to stay on top of the monthly bank payments (for me, it's just interest) and pay back the principal when the term ends. Maybe the bank can only go after all my accounts or those pledged shares if I actually start missing payments.
The rules for when a margin call actually happens are laid out super clearly under the section for using margin credit to buy stocks, so I'm pretty sure I'm right that it doesn't apply to a standard cash loan backed by OIF shares.
Are you absolutely certain it doesn't say 🤔... it really ought to be in there, because margin calls definitely happen with fund-based loans if they drop past a certain threshold... I think it was something like 1.07, but I can't say for sure without double-checking.

A friend of mine is looking for some guidance. He’s dealing with a heart condition that has significantly limited his ability to work. Currently, he is out on medical leave, and there is a very strong possibility he will be transitioning into disability retirement soon. To put it bluntly: we have someone on disability leave—likely headed for a disability pension—who wants to launch a "low-impact" sole proprietorship. Is that even on the table? He needs an answer from someone who actually understands the intricacies of American law!
There's already a thread about opening a small business, so I'm merging this... And look, if you need advice from an actual legal expert, you should probably head over to a legal forum instead. 😉
Alright, look... I finally get it. It’s that "magical" software that supposedly blinks at you to remind you what you actually pitched to a client and what they said in response—you know, so you don't end up asking them the exact same question 358 times like an idiot...
I really hope this was the last post regarding that topic on this specific thread... if someone is dying to talk about it, please 👍 just start a whole new thread 🙂 instead of cluttering this one up
Steven Reed said:You already own the token—why on earth would you pay for it again? 🤷 As for those standing orders you've already set up, they won't charge you a setup fee; that's only for new ones. From what I understand about the new Chase Bank offerings, they're actually adding an option to opt out of the bundle entirely. It should show up on your profile for all tellers to see—so you won't have to deal with every single employee at the branch asking if you want to sign up for more stuff.
Totally off-topic here, but seriously... what exactly is this "new" stuff everyone is talking about? 🙏 🙏 🙏
Alright, here’s the breakdown... Checking account - annual fee$6.75 Savings account - annual fee$12 EC Master Card - $100 enrollment plus a $150 annual membership fee
And seriously, why on earth don't you just use their online banking app already?!?
But look, if you go with the premium package... sorry, I mean the "Chase Bank" perks...😁 they throw in home assistance, roadside emergency services, and travel insurance... though let's be honest, how many people actually bother to use any of that stuff?👍 ...
Then that whole family... increase is going to be practically invisible because you won't be stuck paying those individual card membership fees like you are right now $6.75 + a 50% membership hike
My partner and I both have our own expert accounts => we were both paying an annual fee $160 => $320 for the both of us
If we both just switched over to the one from $20 => then we’d each be paying $240 => which would be $480 for both of us (only a 50% jump), but there's a catch: we'd have to either return some of our current cards or pay extra fees to keep them; so basically 👎
But honestly, I think we're just going to go with the family plan => where we pay an annual fee $240 in total => which actually ends up being less than what we've been shelling out individually until now.

They take those old, simple plans and swap them for these overpriced packages stuffed with useless perks and benefits that 95% of customers will never touch... It’s ridiculous. Like, if a bank already owns its own telecom network, who cares about their mutual funds? It makes zero sense. Yeah, that's the reality right now... ☕
2 Arthur Ramirez12: It's a standard $18 times 12 months, which is 660. Add the same amount for the spouse, and you're looking at 1320.
Can someone please, for the love of God, tell me WHEN this is actually happening? Thanks! 😁

Well then, why in the world am I burning through two entire packs of night pads—and look, I’m a total amateur, 🙈 I only just realized that the Always brands at Target are actually bigger and work way better because the top layer doesn't feel like cheap plastic, if you can believe that 😁—plus another little pack with four drops left 🤷 if that's truly all that's coming out? 🤷
I’m honestly starting to get a little worried because nobody is even starting a thread about this...
And when exactly are they planning to scrap these packages? To be perfectly honest, it already felt weird that they weren't hiking up the fees for the legacy plans, because if you ask me, I was definitely getting shortchanged on mine (checking + power of attorney, foreign currency + power of attorney, online banking, savings accounts, one charge card plus the add-on, the basic debit, and my Visa Coca-Cola)
As for the Zaba fan thing... I don't know... apparently, Expert is changing things up $20, but they haven't included all the credit cards in the mix, so by that logic, everything should just be lumped into the Gold tier or the Family bundle... I have absolutely no use for the mobile app features and it's way too pricey for what it is... though, I suppose the travel insurance is decent enough and that home assistance service is okay
Here’s what really trips me up, though... I mean, does anyone else feel like when you actually get your period, you just want to collapse into bed for the first two or three days because the cramps are absolutely brutal? Do you all somehow manage to schedule this "monthly visitor" for the weekend, or what? I’m out here juggling a job, being a mom, handling everything for my husband—it's a hundred different things at once—so I honestly don't know how you people find the time to indulge in self-care. When mine were hitting me hard, I’d just pop one or two Advil and try to push through the pain
And then there’s the first few days where I feel like I'm stuck on permanent laundry duty because, well, things are leaking constantly. On top of that, I just feel so gross and run-down that I end up obsessively fixing my hair or makeup just to feel human again... I even managed to wash my hair today, and hey, I'm actually breathing
Unfortunately, I haven't seen much chatter regarding credit lines for small businesses lately... though, honestly, I’m really holding out hope that they'll finally fix that mess too.
