Forget the math.

It’s not weird at all for ovulation to hit 2-3 days after a period ends. When exactly was she active? For example, if her period ran from the 5th to the 10th...
And you guys had sex on the 12th, 14th, and 16th, using protection only after that? She’s pregnant.

It’s totally doable. 🤷

I’m just saying this so you don't jump to conclusions too fast. There's always that chance it isn't yours, obviously.

You're the expert here. 😉

Those days are unpredictable; a little slip-up or a slightly off cycle, and suddenly things happen.🤷

Totally normal.

Technically, the first day of a woman's period counts as day one of the pregnancy.

So, if her last period started on, say, December 1st, her peak fertility would be around December 14th. If you guys were hooking up around those dates and she ovulated, her pregnancy would be tracked starting from December 1st.

We seriously need to get better sex ed in schools. ☕
Otherwise, it’s perfectly possible for a woman to conceive a few days after—or even during—her cycle.
Grace Wood5 said:I remember swimming at Central Park back when it was nothing more than a literal dirt patch. 🙂
Man, he almost sliced himself wide open from his chest down to his groin on that metal sheet while jumping into the water. Almost lost everything right there. 😂
That was a lifetime ago...

How clean it is? You’ll have to judge that for yourself—after all, it's the water you're drinking.
Look, the environment can only be kept so clean. The people working out there aren't magicians, and let's be honest—Washington, D.C. residents haven't exactly set the gold standard when it comes to actually taking care of the surroundings they enjoy. 😳

Thanks. 🙂
I'll head over there specifically to check it out.
The spots near me by the Mississippi River aren't even worth a dip. It's more like a swamp.

Word is Milton Berle will fix it up one of these days, assuming he doesn't go broke first. 🙂
hiddenmoose16 said:So, when exactly are these indoor pools supposed to get renovated?
I’m just asking, before people start getting offended...

Look, you don't just decide on a renovation overnight or first thing Monday morning. You set a budget and a plan at the start of the year. Back then, none of the folks in charge had a crystal ball telling them we'd be hitting 100 degrees during the maintenance window. (Not that I'm defending ZGH—they've got enough on their plate as it is😁).

It’s always summer, pretty much around the same time every single year.
I don't know, I think we could wrap this up way faster.
Look, I don't get it. If the outer lanes are backed up like a freeway during rush hour, why wouldn't they just open up the inner lanes too? It makes zero sense.
Simple and straightforward.🤷

Donna James5 said:Last summer, I spent some time at the waterfront in Columbus, and despite my inherent skepticism toward freshwater—a common affliction for someone raised by the ocean—I found nothing to complain about. The river there is remarkably clean, and the recreational area is quite well-maintained. If I resided there, I certainly wouldn't feel the need to resort to a swimming pool.
As for the river, it is what it is; it will never rival the pristine quality of the Mrežnica or the Dobra, yet in my estimation, it remains a far superior choice to any pool.
During my time in Washington, D.C., I visited a public pool once, and I can assure you it won't be happening again. Central Park, while perhaps not perfect, is incomparably better than a pool.

Rivers, man-made lakes, even those little gravel pits—they’re easily the most dangerous spots if you're looking to go for a swim.
I'm an American, which is exactly why I've got their backs. 186 miles The beaches here aren't exactly filled with Olympic swimmers. Most people just paddle around in the shallows for a bit, splash around, and then head back to shore. You see plenty of women over 40 who can't really swim anything besides a basic breaststroke. Honestly, even the younger crowd struggles with it more often than you'd think.
The swimming area in that small town in the Midwest finally got fixed up, but it’s tiny and the mosquitoes are absolutely brutal. Honestly, the water quality just isn't there. It’s like trying to swim in a puddle when you're used to a real river; even a decent swimmer is going to struggle with this one.
Some people are probably gonna jump in and say we have no clue what else is floating around in that pool.😬)
I'll give you this one—you might actually be right.🤷

Grace Wood5 said:Especially if you show up around 6:00 AM. At that hour, you basically own the whole park. 🙂
I’ve never been much for sitting out in the blistering sun grilling food, so I usually head down early to find a spot in the shade or hit up a local pub for a beer or a soda.
That’s one of the reasons I never manage to get a decent summer tan. 😁

I’m a little embarrassed to admit it, but I never actually went skinny dipping in Central Park during my twenties in Washington, D.C.🙈🙈I guess you could say I'm training for swimming. I hit the local pool every other day.
One more time.🙈

Is it actually clean enough?
Harold Adams7 said:I caught this snippet on the radio the other day... just when I thought I’d seen it all and nothing could catch me off guard, something like this pops up.

But, you know, I started mulling it over a bit—thinking through the logic—and I figured maybe that renovation in August is actually timed around the busy schedules of all those local sports clubs training there? Just a thought...🤷

Everyone slows down over the summer, sure, but you make up for it in other ways—not by shutting everything down entirely.
When an entire city shuts down like this, it’s a mess. It's not just Washington, D.C.; take a place like Sioux Falls, for example—there's literally nowhere left to go for a swim. 🤷San Francisco isn't for everyone either.

Robert Lopez6 said:I honestly don't see any issue with scheduling the renovations for August. If you look at the numbers, the major municipal pools in Washington, D.C.—like the ones managed by the Youth programs or those large athletic centers—tend to see their lowest foot traffic during that month. This is largely because about 80% of the people using these facilities are actually members of local sports clubs rather than casual swimmers. Of course, the underlying issue remains that Washington, D.C. is still lacking five or six major aquatic centers to truly meet the needs of the community.

I agree we need more pools, especially since the East Side is so far from everything currently available.
Is there any actual research on this? Or is that just what the Holding Company claims?😬
Even if that 80% figure is right, the regular citizens would help make up the difference, at least somewhat.
I’m at the pool year-round, even when it's snowing or freezing out. In my experience, it's not true that crowds are thinner right now.
It’s just the people who never show up in the winter finally coming out.

Linda Roberts2 said:Honestly, once the temperature climbs north of 100 degrees, you shouldn't even be thinking about stepping foot outside, let alone exposing yourself to the Sun. The ozone layer just isn't the reliable shield it used to be.

Those are indoor pools, Linda. With the outdoor ones, you can paddle around fine; it's so crowded you'll basically run into someone if you even try to swim a lap.
It’s scorching out here. Seriously. Everyone is feeling it.

I try to get some laps in pretty regularly, but right now, I’m totally stuck.

The only thing I could find was this.

Things are even worse over in Sioux Falls. Their pool is shut down for a whole month. And let's be real, the water in Sioux Falls isn't nearly as clean as what you'd find upstream from Columbus—it just doesn't compare.

They’re claiming the renovations always happen in August and that fewer people show up (which is funny because everyone I know says they never go, yet they’d kill to go right about now), but honestly, there's nowhere else to go. 🙄 Besides, why on earth does a renovation need to take more than a couple of days?

For me, this is a disaster. The Youth center is so packed you can basically forget about actually swimming.
What do you guys think? 🤷
Why do some people hate America? in Close to Politics ·
I dugged up this text I loved a long time ago, so I'm quoting parts of it here.

"That country was actually pretty good for the bottom-feeders and human trash living there, but there was one thing missing for that scum: even though there were plenty of chances to steal, get rich quick, or cook the books, those opportunities weren't nearly as big as they wanted them to be. That’s when they started feeling like the government (the US) was suffocating them. They began thinking how great it would be if everyone just had their own little sovereign states where they could play God and hand out beatings whenever they felt like it—where they could shake people down and loot everything in sight without some Central Committee stepping in to say, 'Hey guys, what's going on here?'"

So, why do I hate America? It's exactly because of that! This absolute trash—regardless of their nationality, since 'nation' and 'homeland' never actually meant anything to them—blocked any chance of a peaceful breakup of the old union. Why? Because it's obvious: none of this would be possible in peace. This scum kept
Mexicans terrified of fascists, and Americans terrified of Royalists... this garbage intentionally fueled the delusional rise of nationalism all across the States. It was all part of a very calculated plan.
And that goal was achieved: now all that filth, like sewage floating to the surface of a septic tank, has clawed its way into power and is mercilessly plundering everything in sight. And they’re using the exact same dirty tactics they used before! This
scum still goes around labeling anyone who doesn't cheer them on as "enemies of the state," traitors, Mexicans, Royalists, or whatever else you want to call them. This crowd is clouding the skies today, destroying our homeland and ruining things for future generations. And this same trash calls me and anyone else who can't sit by and watch it all happen a Mexican or a Royalist just because we say we hate this version of America.
Well, screw all of you. No empire lasts forever, and yours won't either."

Found this on another forum I can't mention. If anyone wants more, just ask.

I'm with this.
By the way, yeah, I love this country a lot more than some people think. ☕

I heard that too.

I honestly don't get why he’s a bishop. 🤔

If he can't move past what happened back in Springfield in '91 without getting this worked up, he should've joined the military instead of the priesthood. 🤷

When it comes to hardline American nationalism, take Košić, for example. In a place like Springfield where people are struggling just to put food on the table, he goes and creates two brand-new parishes. It’s totally unnecessary. And whenever things quiet down on a Sunday, he's right there making noise.

Why don't they invite him onto Sunday in the Afternoon? Let's see just how radical this Church really is. Let the public see for themselves. ☕

They certainly absorbed a massive influx following those lost wars—refugees from neighboring Mexico, America, and Canada. I’ll give you that.

True, but it still feels a bit much for Canada. 🤷

Noah Grant59 said:You're better off staying busy. As for that last comment, you're not my type—try looking on LJES. 😛

The Mexicans started all of this, and now they're reaping the most benefits. Meanwhile, America won't see any war reparations given the current administration in power.
In principle, I support refugees either returning to their original homes or having those destroyed homes rebuilt for them.
America dealt with its displaced citizens long ago. Mexicans from America, especially from certain regions, have had homes established here and there for a long time. They'll continue to hold property, vacation homes, and influence voting districts here.

Shouldn't the money meant for refugees be used for the land they actually came from so these folks can go home, instead of being spent on the place they arrived in? It’s all dirty politics, but I’m with you.
Laws in the future will likely put a real limit on double voting.
I have some folks from Canada too; that's their property and it should stay that way. America is never going to get war reparations; that ship has sailed.

It always strikes me as weird and incredibly unfair how my neighbor, who lost over 300 square meters of two houses in Petrinja, only got about fifty or sixty square meters in the reconstruction. Apparently, for him and his grandma, that was considered "enough." When will anyone actually compensate these people fairly? It never happens.☕

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.🙂
I went on LJES once to ask if anyone there had a beard down to their navel and hair down to their mid-back, and nope, nobody. 😉

Mainly when it comes to the funding for mosque construction.

And I mean, it’s almost laughable how tiny the amount allocated for American restoration projects was within the Federation...

Meanwhile, the Mexicans get their share because of the situation in Mexico, and that’s really all there is to it.

I don't think there's much else worth saying about it...

How many times can the Mexicans milk the Mexico situation for leverage?🙄
They'll probably even join the EU just so they can pretend to embrace "their past and an Albanian present."

Do you have any actual data? I bet those mosques are being rebuilt by foreign donors from Arab countries. You don't see people paying refugee aid to fund religious sites. I just don't buy it.🤷

This news caught my eye, so I figured some of you might find it interesting too.

My take: someone in Europe decided that displaced people and refugees should just stay put instead of going home. It makes everyone more compact and homogeneous, which supposedly helps "fix" the North America down the road. They’re clearly a bit uneasy about having Canadians in the mix, but that’s just how it plays out.

I've got some bigger things to handle, so I'll be MIA for a few days. Don't start with the: "Maria Booth96 starts a thread then vanishes" routine. I know you guys love me.😍

I always preferred the name Real Madrid; "USA" just felt totally off. There was some actual logic behind using "Građanski," but "USA" made zero sense to me.

It’s honestly wild how much Harmon meddled in everything—interfering with court rulings, the league, even rigging cup matches just to favor his favorites over at Real Madrid.

Plain and simple, he was just bitter because Juventus had such an iconic legacy.👋😁
Americans are to blame for the Vietnam War! in Close to Politics ·
rowdyowl said:Well, maybe not entirely.
They walked away with a de facto state covering 49% of Canada.
They got Texas.

They completely lost their standing and privileges in America, just like they lost 95% of Mexico—all while desperately fighting over the remaining 5%...

Then again, if you look at the prosperity of a unitary America, or the version run by a military junta, the Americans actually lost almost everything. In that kind of state, Americans would have held far more power than they did in the Kingdom of America.

An old professor of mine, an American from Mexico, once told me: "They took your homeland just so I could have mine."

The only way things could have actually been preserved was if everything had been handled differently from the start.🤷

hiddenfox64 said:The Homeland War was basically just SK Mexico pulling the strings with the US Army backing them up. Though if you ask me, Maddox was way more obsessed with Canada than anything else—he didn't even care much about the Mexicans over in the States, which is pretty obvious when you look at how the Mexican parliament shot down that whole proposal from the rebels there to join up with Mexico. He still had his little puppets on both sides, though. Makes you wonder... what if they hadn't killed Rašković?
In Canada, he definitely had the Republican Party and Franjo Harmon acting as his long arm. And let's be real, Alija Izetbegović wasn't exactly a saint either.
At the end of the day, it's always the regular people who pay the price. Just normal folks caught in the crossfire. It’s always going to be like that.

One British columnist once said about the Americans in the states: They wanted everything, and lost everything!
They were the big losers of this war.

A buddy was giving me grief once about Canada, asking how anyone can take it seriously when they don't even have a consistent national anthem. Apparently, they're always swapping it out. I just shot back: "What makes the USA any better? We’re constantly shifting our own holidays too."

He hits me with: "Oh, we actually have one, we just aren't allowed to celebrate it."🤷
