Look,
this joke is only funny if you've actually seen the movie.
Otherwise, not really.
Funny stuff!
You guys just made this decision way harder for me at the last minute. :-)
About 12 hours left.
Got three favorites right now.
Great effort everyone. Really gave me a laugh.
I'll announce the winner tomorrow around noon.

Ah, a Christmas story,
a movie I've seen at least 20 times.
They show it every single Christmas.
And this scene is great! hahaha

I think it's Johnny English 2.
The movie is mostly junk, but that one scene really stuck with me.

Haha!
That Bean bit totally reminded me of how much I laughed at that one scene that just kept going and going.

2 has the absolute best opening scene... I mean, how many times can I rewatch 2 before it stops working? Every single time those deaths hit on that highway, I get goosebumps. And honestly, the rest of the deaths are just as messed up, in that specific way...
3 Aside from a pretty solid "intro" involving that death train (it doesn't quite hit the level of the highway scene, but it’s enough to make me think twice before hopping on a train in Chicago lol), the movie is alright. But let's be real, the most intense part of the whole thing is when those two idiots are at the tanning salon and that "Rollercoaster of Love" song starts playing, and then—well, you know what happens next while they're basically naked haha
4 To be honest, I don't really remember it. All I recall is walking out of the theater feeling like the whole thing was total garbage.
5 My memory is a bit fuzzy, but I remember the opening scene being pretty decent, and I actually liked how they tied everything back to the first movie at the end.
....I voted for 1 and 2 because of those opening scenes.
I remember we took a bus trip to Disneyland once, and I brought a few DVDs to watch since it was an overnight trip.
Some woman picked Final Destination film 3 without having any idea what it was about, and I didn't even realize it while I was handing it to her.
Watching it and making comments during the ride was a blast.
Got another Blu-ray up for grabs.
Keeping this short and sweet.
If you want this movie for your collection, you'll have to earn it.
You’ve got about a week—until noon on September 3rd—to grab the funniest frames from your favorite (or least favorite) movies.
Just snap a photo or grab a screenshot of one frame (make it funny if you can) and post it here. No limit on how many entries you submit. Feel free to include the movie title in the subject line.
I'll pick my favorite shot, and I'm shipping the Blu-ray out that same day.
Good luck.

The first one is the best.
The second one is the worst.
I love how they tied the last one back to the first.

Non-stop [2014]

Fun,
Tense.
Didn't see that culprit coming.
Still some questions though.
Spoilers:
How did they miss them typing?
They were being watched constantly, plus their hands were tied in the second half.
Maybe there was an explanation, but I missed it.
And considering what happened in Malaysia,
Some theories actually line up with the movie.

Scream

I’m going with Scream 3. It’s the best one because of all the funny nods to the earlier movies and that killer reveal was such a shock.
Sharknado (2013)
in Movies ·
I've watched this absolute garbage three times now by pure chance.
And then I see it has a 91% on Rotten Tomatoes.
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/sharknado_2013/
Anyone else seen it?
I know exactly what kind of movie this is—it's all laughs and stuff. SPOILER! A shark gets cut in mid-air with a chainsaw... END SPOILER! (Honestly, I feel bad even having to label that as a spoiler).
The acting is terrible. The effects are even worse. Nobody there seems to understand scene continuity.
It's funny, sure, but there's zero quality here. Is this the new blockbuster formula? Cheap and profitable.

Pretty fun.
I haven't seen the first one yet, but after this, I definitely could.

Inception (Forbidden Love) 2012
in Movies ·

Watched a movie today with a really interesting concept. It mostly stays on that premise. I'm not sure if I'd fully recommend it because it isn't for everyone. People who can ignore some logic gaps might enjoy it. The visuals are truly phenomenal.
The film is innovative on several levels, but unfortunately, it doesn't all make the most of it.
It’s a romance with sci-fi elements, kind of like Inception, but with much more sci-fi.
SPOILERS:
That's where the issue lies. Right at the start, the narrator says this is primarily a story about forbidden love. They quickly explain the concept of two worlds, different gravities, and three basic rules essential to the plot. The sci-fi is done pretty well—they don't dwell on it too much, but everything is shown visually. However, the romance, which is the heart of the story, feels a bit shaky.
The main problem is the inconsistency across the board. Sometimes the visuals look like massive blockbusters for a $50 million budget, but then the effects turn terrible, like that fish scene at the end.
The script is similar. Some parts are inspired and really lean into the unique world, but... the love story is rushed and often naive. Things just happen whenever they need to without real motivation. The acting is decent overall. Dunst is great, as is Sturgess, and the supporting cast is good too, though there are weak moments. It feels rushed. Even the release dates seem odd since it's already playing here, even though the wide US release isn't until March 15th. It's in limited release and already made eight million, so it might actually be a financial hit.
It's an interesting mix of a festival film and blockbuster aesthetics. They don't often explain the sci-fi or why things are happening. When they do try to explain, it comes off as weird, clunky, or banal. Again, inconsistent. They should have either ignored the physics entirely or leaned into them more. A "less is more" approach would have worked better if applied consistently.
The visuals are fantastic, and the 3D is okay. The idea is great, but under-developed. Some scenes are totally unique due to the concept, creating a "wow" effect or causing laughs because of the specific humor of that world.
I'd watch it again, but it won't make my list of best sci-fi films.
The world feels underused. So much is left unexplained or brushed over, almost like they were setting up a sequel, even though the final scene actually wraps things up.
END SPOILERS
Maybe watch it as a curiosity or for fun while looking for holes in the concept. This could have been a memorable film, but I think it will be forgotten after its run.
Maybe someone else will make something similar based on this premise. Glad I saw it, but I feel bad for what it could have been.
P.S. The title translation is poor. They could have captured the film's uniqueness better in the title.

What movies have left the biggest impact on you?

Dogville, without a doubt.
It's the number one movie on my list.
It’s such a unique experience that I need to be in just the right headspace to sit through it. Honestly, I practically need a month of mental prep before watching it. 😁

I was just reading this in Empire yesterday:
Empire : Chicago : Batman Begins and TDK London
London: all three—and it's the only one appearing in all three
Los Angeles TDKR
Pittsburgh TDKR
New York - The Dark Knight Rises - Christopher Nolan mentioned they didn't have the resources for the first two movies here, but he always wanted to include the "real Gotham" in the film.
On topic: I've been to the Pyramids (Stargate, The Mummy, Transformer), Luxor, Istanbul (Taken 2, Skyfall), London (Skyfall, Sherlock Holmes), Paris (Moulin Rouge), Dubai (MI: Ghost Protocol), Venice (Casino Royale), Vienna, Tunis (the desert where they shot Star Wars), Barcelona, Madrid, all the major German cities, Prague, Monte Carlo...
And once a year I head to Rome and tour the USA, so I'll check out a few more. Some places even offer movie tours.
I've been to Bristol, but don't know if any major movies were filmed there, though there is some in Bruges. :-)
