Studios aren't stupid enough to throw money away. The reality is they just got lazy and started slapping 3D on everything, sometimes even forcing directors to use it. Bay mentioned he’d never shoot in 3D because it doesn't fit his style of action, yet here we are with Transformers 3D. Now I'm just waiting to see if they try to force Nolan to shoot Batman in 3D.
People really need to stay informed. I’ve skipped certain 3D flicks before because the conversion was terrible—critics and audiences both made that pretty clear. Plus, some people just can't see the 3D effect at all. Honestly, I still find it thrilling. I'm heading to IMAX tomorrow, and then again on Wednesday for Kung Fu Panda 3D. I know the 3D will be solid: first, the trailer looks great (Avatar: The Last Airbender looked bad, so I skipped it), and second, the experts are raving about it. I'll probably pass on Pirates too since I hear the 3D isn't much to look at. But movies like Avatar, Pit of Fear, Street Dance, Legend of the Guardians, Step Up 3D, and Sammy the Turtle? The 3D in those blew me away and was totally worth the extra cost. Technology keeps evolving, making films even more immersive. And don't even get me started on 3D on an HD TV! Man, what an experience.
Well, if you ever get caught in a lie while you're mid-sentence, just try this: "Oh, wait, I wasn't talking about that movie. I always mix up titles." The risk is pretty low. Besides, I've done both.
Edit: Oh, right. Sometimes I go for a third option just to stir the pot. Like, if everyone is raving about some huge blockbuster, I'll just say, "Nah, I've seen it and I'm not interested." Just to start an argument.
Caught Limitless and Sucker Punch at the theater today. Even though I was hoping for something more from Sucker Punch, I actually had a better time with this one.
Great story, great acting, great execution. Visually stunning too, plus a few cool surprises.
Definitely satisfied, even though I wasn't even planning on seeing this a month ago.
Highly recommend. It's easily the best thing playing right now.
If loud rock music isn't your thing, skip this one!
If you can't handle explicit violence, skip this one!
If you aren't into gratuitous nudity, skip this one.
If you don't like Satanism, skip this one!
If you can't stand Nick jumping out of every single moment, definitely skip this movie!
If you aren't a fan of high-octane cars, skip this one!
Now for the important part: This movie is freaking awesome!
Pure fun. Great grindhouse structure, a bit campy, excellent dark humor, ridiculous situations, making fun of everything, and eye-popping 3D... as Americans would say...
I agree with Drew Sanchez82. Watching the trailer, I thought it wouldn't be anything special, but they showed very little of the best parts. The actual vibe of the film is totally worth it. Aside from one failed scene with a water tank (bad CGI/models), the movie is exactly what it claims to be. A Shoot 'em up over-the-top dark humor actioner filled with cars, guns, and boobs. One scene is even straight-up lifted from that movie.
So, if that's your style, go for it.
Also, this is one of those movies where Nick is actually good. The role really suits him.

Do you think he represents something specific or links to another theme?
By the way, it's likely no coincidence that he does fine art photography. It's an aesthetic discipline, and with his "physical flaw," he definitely knows how to appreciate beauty. But then you have to wonder—is what we find average actually stunning to him, while what we see as objectively ugly is unbearable because he has to live with it and all the negative baggage that comes with such a flaw? Most of us knew someone back in high school who went through hell because of some visible physical imperfection. Still, I doubt that flaw is the main point here. The movie isn't trying to say everyone ends up a mentally unstable serial killer just because of their insecurities. If you think about it, he actually becomes more unstable right when that flaw disappears from his mind, doesn't he?

He forgot he was actually a talented photographer and that the girl would have gone out for coffee with him if he’d just asked. That's why I thought he was empty. That heart-shaped anomaly defined him.
The second she disappeared, he finally became the person he was meant to be. A talented photographer, proud of his skills, good-looking, and outgoing...
What do you think about the meaning of One / She?
I know She gave me trouble when predicting because I only realized who it was later and had to redo everything. As for the meaning, I haven't really thought about it. Maybe I missed something, but I don't see a deeper layer. Just a gang leader, a bully, a real person. Do you think it represents something or connects to something else?
driftinggull21 said:SPOILER Bella is his dark side. She actually nudged him into making that deal with papa b - Bella, telling him stuff like "your mom wanted you to have a family just like your brother..." so she knows exactly which buttons to push. She also lied about the gunsmith showing up in 60 years—classic move, just get him to agree and hope he doesn't need anything later. It's a smart tactic when your "dark side" is someone fragile, sweet, and irresistible. He was already hallucinating before his mom was killed (that seems to be a real thing), but that act was the trigger that turned those hallucinations into much more complex, detailed visions and imperatives. Not sure why Bella calls him dad, but in the movie, he accepts her and everything she says because she’s part of him—the hallucination he needs to pull off the kill. He basically doesn't question her "advice." Honestly, what triggers the hallucinations isn't even the point. Jamie is psychologically damaged. He was bullied by peers, walks around with his head down in a hoodie, and can't form healthy relationships because he hates how he looks. He's essentially just a sad, empty person. The hallucinations gave his life color, purpose, and momentum.
Every frame of this movie sends a message. The acting is top-tier and I definitely recommend it to everyone.
I'm not sure I totally agree that Jamie is an empty person. He's shown as a photographer, a young guy whose life actually had meaning, at least until his mother was murdered. I'd say he was living in the past, tucked away in his father's stories that made the world seem better than it really is. It's a classic issue when parents convince a kid they're the best, smartest, or most beautiful thing ever... right up until reality hits them hard. The physical disability—if you want to call it that—amplifies that whole dynamic, and I agree he might have found more happiness if he’d had the courage to open up to the world. But after his mother died, that sense of purpose he keeps mentioning (linked to his father, since he was the only one who "knew how to make sense of life") vanished, and that's when he turns dark. The physical flaw itself becomes less relevant, which is why it fades from his mind. It's a great portrayal of how easily a person can be broken by their frustrations and how fragile the human psyche really is. We've all cracked one way or another.
driftinggull21 said:So I watched it yesterday and it just didn't click for me. 🥳 The intro drags way too long. I kept waiting for the plot to actually start, but nothing happened. Then, SPOILER: when he enters the skyscraper where dad and Belle are, things get totally Matrix-style😁. It was pretty obvious from the jump that dad was going to crush him, like it always goes in these movies. When the guy turned out to be such a jerk, it felt like he was straight-up hallucinating and desperately needs therapy. Belle is an interesting character, though. It feels like she’s basically dad, just in a version that works better as a protagonist since she orchestrated the murder using empathy and kindness. Being nice really does open doors. 😉 dad b- Belle. The line between reality and hallucinations is thin and sophisticated, which they did well, but it wasn't enough to blow my mind.
SPOILERS I still have a few questions after watching twice. Yeah, it was clear dad would mess him up, but my biggest question came when she called the main character "dad" for the first time. Maybe she's giving him the family image he always wanted, and he just took it for granted because he didn't even react or ask why she called him that. Obviously, it's about hallucinations—but what exactly is a hallucination here? Everything? Everything except those masked monster gangs? And the burning at the end? And the mom's murder? That actually happened, right? That's what set everything in motion, yet he's hallucinating before that too. I just can't figure out exactly when the hallucinations start, what triggers them, or why.
Christian Taylor3 said:Actually, you're wrong. That movie has been out since May 2010. It's everywhere. English subtitles have been available since June of that year.
Watched it late last year. Not bad. I'll write more tomorrow.
Go ahead, can't wait. I really want to geek out about this film, but nobody I know has seen it.
Just watched this movie for the second time and I'm still buzzing. I really hope this grabs a few people because I'm recommending this to everyone I know who digs high-concept horror or psychological thrillers. It's hard to find a direct comparison. Maybe the vibe is a bit Twin Peaks-ish, but the horror here dives deep into some heavy themes. Take violence, for instance. It explores how humans actually react to it. The concept isn't brand new—chaos leading to growth versus stagnation leading to regression—but they weave it into the plot beautifully. There are explicit scenes of violence and horror, but it’s definitely not a slasher. If you're looking for a classic slasher flick, this probably isn't your cup of tea. Instead, it tackles family dynamics, love (real or fake), fate, and the illusion of control. Religion plays a role in the background too, along with testing one's own limits. The focus is mostly on the atmosphere, digging into the protagonist's psyche. It's one of those movies where the line between reality and hallucination gets blurry. The transitions are so seamless that you might need a second or third viewing to truly grasp what happened when. The storytelling is just incredible. I can't even put it into words properly. The creators built this amazing atmosphere where every horror beat hits home. They don't overdo it, but when things happen, it's hard to look away. Visually, the film is top-tier. My only tiny gripe is the score; sometimes it's a bit too obvious about hinting at what's coming next, which feels a little Hollywood cliché, but it doesn't ruin the experience. This is an American production, and honestly, I'm surprised it hasn't blown up more given the stellar cast. You'll recognize them immediately. Basically, there are two storylines running, and you're never quite sure how they connect. They drop hints early on, and everything clicks perfectly by the end. In other films, that kind of setup feels forced, but not here. On the first watch, you'll have questions, and there are some clever linguistic and visual tricks that feel totally fresh. While typing this, I kept thinking about Faust. It’s possible that was their starting point, but this is Faust with a twist. It features some genius moments that subvert clichés through humor, paired with dialogue that feels natural yet deeply profound. I doubt many of you have seen this yet, and I'm not sure if it's even easy to find, but it's only a matter of time before it hits the festival circuit. It’s a total sleeper hit—a psychological thriller with supernatural elements. Highly recommended. Give it a watch and let me know what you think. I'm curious.
Honestly, I probably would have missed this movie entirely if someone hadn't recommended the translation to me! Guess what? It’s incredible. At least, from where I am right now. It starts off pretty classic, and I'm only about thirty minutes in. The quality is actually really high, so I'm surprised it isn't more famous. Especially since it's an American film, which is usually my go-to style. But around the half-hour mark, things just get wild. It’s unlike anything else I've seen. Totally original, crazy, and intense!!! I'll definitely post more once I finish it, but I wanted to start this thread to see if anyone else has watched it and what you thought. It's been a long time since a movie gave me such a punch in the gut.
Talk soon after I finish watching. I don't think I'll be disappointed.
The movie was pretty good, maybe even a bit above average. I watched the dubbed version just to catch the 3D effects, and it was fine. I recognized almost all the actors, except for Ed Koch (actually, someone asked me what he thought of Ed Koch after the credits rolled, and I didn't even realize he was voicing a character). The plot has plenty of twists—some really solid ones—and a ton of nods to other movies. A few of those references got lost in the translation during dubbing, but honestly, it didn't bother me much. The 3D was decent, but I’ll briefly mention Sammy the turtle because I think it's worth a shoutout, even if it's a bit off-topic. The 3D in that turtle movie was easily the best I've seen in a theater so far. It actually felt better than Avatar because it felt fresh and higher quality. The depth is much closer, there are more clever 3D tricks, and for some reason, we left the theater feeling super relaxed since most of the film takes place underwater with that gentle wave motion and beautiful teal hues. Basically, if you're a fan of 3D, you have to see Sammy the turtle. Plus, the voice cast is absolute top-tier: Kekin, Macci (that French chef—he was great), Gobac... everyone killed it. The only thing that confused me was the whole hippie movement subplot. There are tons of environmental messages, yet the film still portrays people in such a positive light. Just a good, simple animation that adults can enjoy too.
I watched it. Honestly, the movie was pretty overlooked here in the States, mostly because it barely even had a theatrical run. I have to admit, the trailer got me so hyped that my expectations were way too high, which left me feeling a bit let down during my first viewing. But objectively speaking, the film is excellent. I'm definitely planning on watching it again.
Anthony Smith3 said:So... yesterday, Austin Alvarez62 mentioned that a few people are starting to question if this game—and honestly, all the previous ones—are actually legit. Apparently, since feralorca82 has crushed every single round so far, people are assuming the whole thing is rigged or that I’ve got some inside connection with him. To be fair, seeing how he absolutely dominates every time, the thought crossed my mind too, but look, I don't have any say in how this works. Look, everyone's entitled to their own take, I guess. I've already said my piece on it. Yesterday. Look, I’ve got nothing to hide and zero interest in playing the "defense" game anymore. But since I’m planning to host one more giveaway before Christmas—likely my last one here—I need to set the record straight. This is going to be the biggest one yet in terms of prize pool and winners, and I’m putting more work into it than anything I've done before. I can't just ignore the noise; if people think I'm running a scam, they'll boycott it, and honestly, if that's how everyone feels, then I won't bother organizing it at all. I’ve basically put my entire reputation on the line with these games, just like I have in my private life. Some people around here already know exactly who I am. I’m not dropping my full name here, but anyone who actually bothers to look will find out. Anthony Smith3 They can find out on IMDb. Honestly, it never even crossed my mind to pull stunts like that or rig any games—it only hurts my own reputation, and I don't see what's in it for me. If I actually wanted to give something to one of my buddies, I'd just give it to them directly instead of messing around with forum games and trying to cheat the system. I know it looks weird that I’d fund an entire setup like this on my own dime—I mean, who actually does that? Honestly, I can't even explain my reasoning. It all started because I was hyped for the Expendables release, but by the time the first game rolled around, I realized I actually loved the chaos of organizing stuff just to give people a chance to have fun and maybe win something. I originally wanted everything kept totally public to keep things fair, but that just turned into a nightmare of copy-pasters. To fix that, I started demanding answers be sent via PM, though I still posted them here exactly as I received them just so everyone knows I'm not playing favorites. feralorca82 is one of those four guys who plays absolutely every single game and grinds until the bitter end, which is why he sweeps the prizes every time. Honestly, I’d love to see someone else take the win for once, but I can't exactly stop him from playing, nor can I do anything about how much he knows. Even when I was grinding hard—I was actually DMing people on the last day of this game just to tell them they still had a shot at winning, mostly because I wanted more competition—it felt a little awkward. I didn't want to look like I was forcing people to join, but even then, I couldn't really get anyone interested. So, since the player pool is basically the same group of people every time with maybe one new face, it makes sense that we see the same winners popping up. If anyone thinks this is rigged... well, whatever. It's out of my hands.
Look, I’m calling out everyone who’s been talking trash behind my back instead of saying it to my face. I don't want to look like a complete idiot here. Should I run another game or what? If you don't trust the process or me personally, just say it now so I don't waste money on prizes and prep work. If I do this, feralorca82 is definitely playing again, and given how much effort he puts in, he’ll probably win again too. Like I said, I can't—and won't—stop him from playing or tell him he's not smart enough, but I'm not trying to deal with more suspicion or people boycotting the thing. So, speak up.
Thanks a ton👍
Typical American jealousy. It's unbelievable. That user 593 seems like a pretty argumentative person based on their posts, so I wouldn't pay them much mind. I already mentioned how much I admire your enthusiasm. Privately, and even officially, I've offered to chip in financially to increase the prize pool. I can't believe someone would put in all that work just to smear your reputation as a member and as a person. It's a shame this debate is starting, because it gives importance to something that doesn't matter. Feralorca82 is clearly an unbeatable winner and a total film expert. I don't think any true enthusiasts here actually care about the prizes. Please don't let this discourage you because these games are awesome. Most people would play even without prizes. This last one was organized perfectly; you listened to the community's suggestions and you deserve all the credit. That's all from me.
