Tips for quitting smoking! in Health ·
Amy Smith said:So here I am, a year and eight months in, and the cravings finally hit... but there's no way I'm lighting up. It’s not even a real crisis, just haven't done it in so long that I'm actually missing it, especially the rolling tobacco...

Been about a year and a half for me too
hit me this summer

but I didn't
Flu shots [PLEASE READ FIRST POST!] in Health ·
Sheky said:Gotta jump in here with a few more questions: Can I actually get the shot if I’m feeling kinda flu-ish? Like, maybe it isn't even the flu, just a runny nose and my throat acting up... it's not really "pain," more like this weird tightening sensation, sometimes more, sometimes less, I don't even know how to describe it... and lastly, I don't think I have a fever, but I haven't checked and I don't feel hot, so who knows...
Advice please.😕

Nah.

You say "fuck off" before the leech bites you... not after it's already done its thing because there's nothing left to suck, and you're just scraping the bottom of the barrel with your last bit of strength... 😁

Where did you get this idea that you need some deep reason or an actual argument just to shut someone down?
What kind of argument do you need to not do—or not let someone make you do—something you don't want to do? An argument for your goddamn rights? Someone taught you wrong... 😁
"I don't care," "You're exhausting me, sorry," or "Go bother someone else" are all perfectly valid arguments if you really need them...
But do you actually have the guts to say them? 😛

Guess not. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Just like a million other people who play the victim for some and whine to others.
Leeches never bite where they aren't allowed to.
And since YOU are the one letting them in, and YOU decide how people treat you, who exploits you, and how much... stop whining and playing the victim. Either let them do what they want or shut it down.
As simple as that. 😉 🙂

The more I read you, the more you're becoming my spiritual icon...

Just caught up on this. My post was already up, but you basically said everything...

TsunamiGirl said:Two ways to look at it:

1. Leeches only go after weak targets. They aren't stupid; they can sense strength from a mile away.

2. What you’re talking about might not even be leeches. It sounds more like people being terrified of someone else's success. If you blow up, the gap between you and them gets massive, forcing them to face their own lack of progress. Even if you don't rub it in, they feel it. Some people follow you through certain phases, then you outgrow them while they stay stuck, trying to drag you back down to their level. You gotta leave them behind if you want to move forward. That's just life. Don't sweat it. New people will come along—maybe even people who find *you* to be the burden...

And no, we aren't all "lone wolves." That's just an excuse for people with guilty consciences. Maybe I "took" something from someone once (I prefer saying I learned from them!), but that person got something out of it too. There were times when I was the one benefiting and they weren't, but those were mentors. I'm grateful. I'll pay it forward by mentoring someone else later. They get that.

Overcomplicating things? Please...

Not small at all...

You nailed it.

restlessmarlin6 said:Why do they show up right when you finally feel like you've got enough grit to take on the whole damn world—including yourself? Just when you actually start believing in what you can do?
Why does it always happen when you're feeling fired up?

What is it about people that makes them want to drain you, just to crush you... figuratively and literally?
Why do they leech off your strength just to boost their own?

Sometimes we're all just wolves... unfortunately.

And half the time, we don't even realize how hard we're hitting the person we're exhausting.

Anyone know any ways to recharge after dealing with this kind of "leeching" I've been going through lately? Meditation maybe? I could really use it because I feel myself slipping again. Thanks.

why do they do it?

is it on purpose?

conscious or subconscious, doesn't matter...

energy is just flow, you can't really "strengthen" it, you just gotta refill the tank when it hits empty...

everyone finds their own way...

as for those vampires, just give 'em less of your business...

keep things strictly surface level (if you even have to deal with 'em at all)...

look, you can't dodge everyone, especially if you're stuck working with some of 'em...

just don't vent to people like that, especially when you're feeling low...

when everything's hitting the fan and they ask how you're doing—just tell 'em, yeah, it's like this every single day...🙂 and let 'em wonder...
yeah

plus, some antidepressants come with these side effects
(only take 'em if you actually need them, not just to dodge the side effects)

let her wash you up for the warmup 😳

man, if it were mine

if you're actually worried about getting hurt, just grab some of those drugstore essentials like Intim Val, though maybe she's already got some

Lawrence Evans2 said:Nobody’s ever died from a microwave, sure, but cancer? Yeah, that's real... my old man went out that way too...

don't mess with carcinogens...

shouldn't mess with stupidity either
but you still go ahead and do it anyway
(i got my own theory on how carcinomas start, but i guess it's EASIER for YOU to just blame stuff like microwaves)

if you actually listen to the radio, just quit now because it's the SAME radiation coming off a microwave (at least in terms of how much it sucks)

Mary_1963 said:Go spend an afternoon walking through a hospital wing... specifically the pulmonary ward. Your craving for a smoke will vanish instantly, guaranteed. 😁 Honestly, most people quit because they’re terrified of dying. You need a massive reality check to make it stick.

I know folks who finally tapped out right when cigarette prices spiked again.
One woman I knew just tucked that extra cash away and ended up buying clothes instead—it adds up to like $167 😲 dollars eventually.
As for me... I quit for the sake of a little kid in my life. If it wasn't for them, I probably still wouldn't have stopped...
How do I quit smoking? in Health ·
everyone trying to QUIT

once you actually commit to never lighting up again—and I mean a real decision, not some "maybe this time will stick" or "fingers crossed" crap🙄
that's when you'll finally stop
been there, done that...
Microwave ovens in Health ·
Bloating and digestion aren't even an issue for me—that's just down to what I eat, not whether it was microwaved or not

Could probably drop a few pounds... working on it, and I'm starting to see some progress
But I didn't pack on the weight from eating microwave meals 🙄 it was all the chips and other junk food
Microwave ovens in Health ·
I honestly don't get how people can be this dense. With the entire internet and Google right at their fingertips these days... what are they even doing?

Nobody’s ever died from using a microwave, but if stupidity was fatal, some folks around here would be long gone...

I mean, I don't even buy that they're actually high in calories—it's just the salt making you retain water. But they aren't giving you anything useful to actually fuel up with either... wouldn't recommend them as a real meal replacement long-term...

nimbledriver81 said:Just a standard pot with a lid and that colander thing with handles. Not sure what you'd even call it... can't really call it a pot if it's got holes in the bottom.😁

A liner? An insert?
thanks, i get what you mean. basically works like a pressure cooker too (except everything's still under pressure)

where'd you find it for that cheap?
Weight Loss Challenge... in Health ·
So how does that pressure cooker actually look? Does it come with those little inserts you put inside?
Just curious... not like I’m actually gonna buy it. Honestly, I’ve already got way too much gear cluttering things up😁

Melissa Cruz2, you wouldn't last long on an empty stomach either. If I were forced to, I'd cave
but I won't
The second I get hungry, my brain just goes straight to whatever junk is within reach—chips, whatever else is lying around
And at the end of the day, I could always spend that money on sports or 😉

Peter Bennett8 said:When it comes to veggies, I just use a steamer. Total game changer... you just pour in some water, set the timer, and forget about it. It shuts itself off, easy to clean, and honestly? The food actually tastes better than boiling it in water. Didn't even cost much around $67. Honestly, everyone needs one—might even grab one as a wedding gift later on (instead of some cheap 😁 mixer)

I usually just stick to my pressure cooker or the microwave
Weight Loss Challenge... in Health ·
honestly, I’m fine eating the exact same thing every single day)

seems to me that isn't even that healthy... way too much meat

I'd love to get into that zone too, but I'm probably too dim to figure it out
just can't seem to wrap my head around it
instead, here's what happens... if I actually get hungry, then I can't eat a damn thing😕 (even though I thought I'd just hit the fridge and chill
)...
for a week now, I've just been prepping this shake with kefir or whey, honey, ground seeds, banana, pear, kiwi, whatever. drink about half a liter and I'm good until lunch😕 🙏

Melissa Cruz2 is right here
that’s why you live such a short life, kid
nobody can handle two steaks in one sitting
you crave everything alive
and then there's no limit
look at me, eating chocolate right now
so what?
I'll go for a walk for an hour after, and I won't polish the whole bar like I used to, just half🙂
it's dangerous to ban everything you actually enjoy
eat healthy, load up on fruit and veggies, but a little chocolate here and there is fine... maybe some cake too... just don't make it a daily thing

What matters more for spiritual growth? in Spirituality ·
you guys have talked so much crap here I'm officially out...
if you actually want some kind of spiritual growth, you gotta FIRST purge all the bullshit and dogmas they've been shoving down our throats for years
get all that junk out of the way so you can be clean and open
only then will you find the real path
