Anthony Lopez8 said:Yes, the medication should still take effect even if it is mixed into coffee. However, you lose that placebo effect, which is actually quite significant when dealing with antidepressants. At the start of treatment, there can be unpleasant side effects, so there is a distinct possibility he might notice something is different. Xanax doesn't present those specific types of side effects, but its sedative effect is quite obvious, so...
By the way, you can't really expect to ask for advice on how to carry out something illegal on a public forum without receiving, at the very least, a bit of a "moral lecture."☕
Can you explain what kind of side effects we're talking about? And what's the absolute worst part? I don't need a lecture ☕ I just want some peace at home while my mom waits for her divorce papers to go through.
Anthony Lopez8 said:First off, what exactly does "extremely, extremely severe" mean in your eyes? He was prescribed Prozac, which is an antidepressant. Since you haven't mentioned any antipsychotics being part of his regimen, shouldn't we assume his reality testing is still intact—that is, he hasn't completely lost touch with reality? If he actually has, then Prozac certainly wouldn't be the solution here. Furthermore, since his doctor didn't recommend hospitalization, it stands to reason that he doesn't pose a significant danger to himself or others.
Don't you think that, even in his state, your stepfather should be the one to decide whether or not he wants to take medication? (I personally believe that even individuals experiencing intense psychosis should retain that right, though that is a subject open to debate.) If his behavior is making life miserable for you and your mother, there are other ways to address the situation. Slipping medication into his coffee strikes me as fundamentally wrong.
Look, I didn't come here for a lecture. Also, I totally forgot to mention in my last post that back in 2001, he was hospitalized for F25.2—schizoaffective disorder, mixed type, whatever that means. He refused the meds then, too. Things were okay for a bit, but everything went south in 2009 when he started talking nonsense and smashing stuff around the house. We called 911 and they kept him in the hospital for a month. By 2011, things got even worse; he saw a psychiatrist and was on Haldol, then his doctor switched him to clozapine. In 2012, he got Zoloft and Xanax, but he won't take them because he'll just wreck the house—so my question is, would the meds still work if they were hidden in his coffee or tea?
Hey everyone—not sure if this is the right spot for this, but I’ve got a question. My stepdad is dealing with some seriously, seriously heavy mental health issues, and his psychiatrist prescribed him Prozac, but he just flat-out refuses to take it. Neither my mom nor I have any clue what to do at this point. So, I was wondering—if we were to crush those pills into a fine powder and sneak them into his coffee (which he basically lives on)—would they actually do anything?
Hey everyone! To the mods: if this thread already exists, please just merge it instead of deleting—don't be that guy. Anyway, getting this started because I really need someone to make sense of these results or at least give me some advice. So, my mom went in for a kidney ultrasound the other day. Here’s what the report says: Ultrasound examination of the hepatobiliary tract, pancreas, spleen, and kidneys. The adrenal glands and the renal pelvis/bladder area are clearly differentiated within the pelvic system. In the right kidney, there are several hyperechoic foci, the largest being about 2 cm, with significant dilation of the renal pelvis—basically Grade 1 (Roman numeral one)/2 (Roman numeral two) hydronephrosis. Within the parenchyma toward the upper pole of the left kidney, there is a round hypoechoic structure measuring approximately 4.6 cm with posterior acoustic accentuation. The remaining ECHO-nalaz for the abdominal organs, renal pelvis, and retroperitoneum looks pretty normal. So, I guess the diagnosis is 😕 🤷 Nephrolithiasis with Grade 1(I)/2(II) hydronephrosis, right side Left renal cyst. Thanks, guys
quietbear14 said:Hey everyone, I’ve been lurking on this forum for quite a while now, just reading through everything, and I finally decided to go ahead and sign up. I figured there might be some folks here who’ve dealt with similar stuff and could maybe point me in the right direction or offer a bit of advice... so, let's dive in
I’ve got a few things going on that make me feel like a total outlier compared to everyone else around me; - That constant pale look in my face. It’s not an anemia thing—at least, wasn't when I had my blood work done about six months ago at a clinic near Chicago—and even though I have naturally fair skin and tan pretty easily, my face always looks sickly white - Really heavy dark circles and puffiness under my eyes. Honestly, it doesn't matter if I pull two hours of sleep or a full twelve, they're always there, looking super prominent - Excessive sweating. It’s everywhere—my face, my back, my stomach—but it’s especially bad under my arms. Like, way more than the average person I run into out in the world
I'm 21, a smoker, and I hit the gym once in a blue moon, nothing too crazy..
I'm totally open to any suggestions or thoughts you guys might have, so thanks in advance for the help 🤷
Sup! First off, not sure why you think you're "different," but let's break this down. Regarding the pale face—since you had blood work done half a year ago, you're probably not anemic, but if it's just localized, maybe it's just poor circulation to that specific area? Those dark circles? Could just be an aesthetic thing, but they can also point to health issues like thyroid problems... As for the sweating, honestly, I don't see how you're "deviating" from the crowd—tons of people deal with this, especially during a hot American summer since it's how the body cools down. It could be anything, even just eating spicy food. You can try grabbing a solid antiperspirant—assuming you haven't already—but some people are just built to sweat more and nothing really fixes it. Either way, you should definitely go see a doctor about all these symptoms; a forum is just a bunch of opinions and definitely isn't a substitute for actual medical advice.
Hey everyone! So, I got bit by something yesterday—no clue what. Anyway, my arm is all swollen right where this red dot is, and man, it hurts like hell... feels like someone’s stabbing my actual bone. What do you think? :S I thought maybe it was just a bee at first, but now I’m definitely not so sure.
@Tinkerbell I’m with you—it probably only works if you hit 🤷 @zelj Honestly? Believe me, it’s a total joke. @krena Thanks for getting back to me. Just curious though—how many of those pills was your girl actually popping? Like, what was her daily dose?
gentlesailor25 said:I mean, there’s definitely an effect there, I think. It just seems like you'd need to wrap it in something else to actually mask the taste.🤣 I'm honestly sitting here wondering how one would even pull that off!
Hey everyone. So, we’ve got someone living with us dealing with schizophrenia, and things get pretty intense—he’s up in the middle of the night wandering into rooms and just standing over us, you know? It wouldn't be such a mess if he'd actually take his meds or the therapy he was prescribed. I'm wondering, though—would it even work to just crush up a pill and sneak it into his food or something? Anyone know? 🙂
Donna Johnson16 said:Based on that height, a healthy BMI range would be roughly 130–175 lbs for an adult—so that weight you mentioned is basically hitting the floor, right on the edge of being underweight.
To actually give you a decent answer, we'd need to know how old you are, if you've got any underlying health issues (especially digestion stuff), how much you work out, and if you smoke.
...
First off, thanks for the reply. I'm 20, totally healthy, my stomach is fine, I don't really do much exercise, and I don't smoke.
Hey everyone! Sorry if this topic already exists—please don't delete it, just let the mods move it if needed. So, lately, everyone keeps hitting me up with "Man, you lost weight!" and honestly? When I look in the mirror, I'm seeing the same thing. I remember being exactly 152 lbs at 5'11", but now I've dropped down to about 132 lbs. What could be causing this? Should I actually go see a doctor? I’m eating normally and everything, but this sudden drop is pretty weird, right?
Terry Grant2 said:I find myself inclined to agree with that sentiment as well... doesn't it just seem like the most logical conclusion to reach? 😁 And she just won't have him...? 🤷
Trust me—it’s not about anyone being an idiot or anything like that. 😁
Terry Grant2 said:Oh, please, let's dial down the drama here... 🙄
It’s not like they’re committing a felony just because they want to cut ties... seriously... Why all this intense reaction? It’s almost as if we're preparing for some major criminal trial...
In reality, isn't it much healthier to distance yourself from people who end up draining your energy and leaving you feeling empty? Life is far too short to spend it performing or engaging in meaningless friction with others, regardless of how dear they might be to us... it's better for everyone involved... Does anyone actually enjoy staying in those types of relationships? But no, let's insist on staying in a hollow connection just to protect someone else's feelings... which ultimately leads to more hurt in the long run anyway, because people can sense when something is fundamentally off... 🙄
By the way, Sandra Morgan2 gave you the best advice you've heard so far... 😉
thanks for the support lol and yeah, I agree—Cherie really did give me the best advice
@ VragjeUOvojzen—look, if you’re gonna be brutally honest without sugarcoating things, you just know you’re gonna get hit with a thousand "why" questions. It’s like if you tried to end a friendship yourself—people would be all, "Wait, what did I even do?" And honestly? There isn't always an explanation for why you're walking away when nothing specific happened. You get it, right? Hey Ivan—like someone already pointed out, being real is hard. You know there’s gonna be a million questions asking why. @ Catherine—I'm kinda with you on this one. @ Sean Watson48—totally agree—there’s no such thing as a "nice" way to end a friendship. @ Chris Peterson53—exactly. Everyone just wants to protect their own image and look like the good guy. Case in point: I ran into her today while hanging out with some other friends, and she basically tried to freeze me out—just giving those super polite, business-only answers. I pulled it off, sure, but man, my conscience was eating me alive. I hate feeling like I'm being awkward in front of the group, but even when I play it cool, I just feel like a jerk afterward!
Kenneth Morgan25 said:You haven't even defined what this "thing" actually is. Like, is it a good kind of weird, or that awkward, uncomfortable kind of strange? And why would you just bail immediately? You don't even know if it's anything real yet—for all you know, you might've just fallen head over heels. 😍
It’s not even about being in love 😍—it’s more like everything feels fine for a second, then suddenly it hits that awkward, weird vibe, you know what I mean?
Sean Watson48 said:I’ve been in a similar spot. On her end, we were, I think, best friends. She is lovely and all that good stuff—we never fought, our relationship was perfectly civil, there's no argument there—but after a while, I just stopped finding her fun. It felt like hanging out with her was becoming a chore. I definitely felt like this friendship didn't carry much weight for me anymore, and honestly, it started feeling suffocating. Just a "friendship" existing for its own sake. I’d find myself wondering more and more often, "What the hell am I even doing here?" 🤦 And now... how do you actually explain to someone close to you, out of nowhere, that you don't want to hang out intensely anymore? Honestly, I have no clue if there’s a smart way to handle it. My solution, as cowardly and selfish as it was, was the simplest one: I just cut all ties. It was definitely selfish and a total jerk move, but I couldn't bring myself to say it to her face. 😢 On the flip side, ignoring everything swirling in my head and pretending everything was fine seemed like an even worse option. So, I started ghosting her. It was incredibly difficult, and I wasn't sure if I was doing the right thing, but enough time has passed that we don't just stop hanging out—we don't even say hello anymore. It was an excruciating situation, but looking back, it feels like things ended up where they should have. My advice to you is: if you have the guts, tell her to her face. If not... well, learn from my mistake. Just be prepared for your conscience to sting for a long time. But even that fades eventually. Anyway, good luck. 🙂
Literally the same thing! I'm sitting here asking myself what the hell I'm even doing!
@ Daniel Palmer2 Honestly, I have zero clue why I’d even want to distance myself. @ Megan Wright Wright, it's not like I'm trying to air dirty laundry on the forum—it's just that... I don't know, there's just something weird about being around her? It's hard to put into words. @ Eric Richardson49 Look, you haven't been rambling at all—every bit of advice helped. That's exactly why I want to pull back a bit, but I don't want to just demote her to some random acquaintance. @ rowdyharbor15 Nah, it's not that she's a bad person—she's actually super positive and great—but like I said, there's just this bizarre vibe when we hang out, you know? Sorry if this sounds weird, I just don't want to keep dragging everyone into my drama.
electriccrane60 said:Look, first things first: you might want to consider cutting ties. Stop replying to her texts. If she asks to grab a coffee or anything along those lines, just tell her you’ve already got plans. People eventually move on after enough time passes, though honestly, the best move would be to sit her down and be upfront about how you feel. But let's be real—that takes a level of courage most people just don't possess.
Thanks for getting back to me so fast. But that’s the whole catch—she hasn't actually done anything wrong, right? It's just this weird feeling where I feel forced to pull away from her, even though I know I should stay—you know what I mean? And that's the issue with your suggestion to just talk to her. If she had actually screwed me over, I'd sit her down in a heartbeat—but since she hasn't, I just get this sudden urge to distance myself. Is that even normal?
Hey everyone! Hope I’m in the right spot for this—if not, mods, please feel free to move this thread. So, I'm looking for some advice on the best way to distance myself from someone? It's a girl I call a friend, and honestly, she isn't bad at all—actually, she's great—and we get along fine. But for some reason I can't quite put my finger on, I just want to drift away... you know, reach that "see ya later" stage. She hasn't actually done anything wrong or anything like that, but I just can't describe this vibe I get when I'm around her. Basically, I just want to create as much space as possible. What's the best way to handle this? Thanks in advance for any help!
Brandon Lopez6 said:I think you're good to go. It's been a long time and the scar should be fully healed by now. Still, the smartest move would be to give your doctor a quick call to confirm (you could even ask a pharmacist), or honestly, even check with a tattoo artist since they deal with skin healing all the time...
Just a heads up, any info you pick up on a forum isn't always rock solid, since you never really know how much weight to put behind someone's advice. 🙂
So I called my surgeon and he gave me the green light. Said it's totally doable, but I gotta keep in mind that the ink might look a little lighter on that spot—just a heads up.😁
