Tattoo removal advice? in Health ·
Hey everyone—ended up here after searching through some scar threads. I’ve got a few questions about scarring, but let's keep it to the serious stuff, okay? I have this surgical scar from when I had to get some tattoo removal done because things went sideways—it's about 3cm wide and happened just over a month ago. So, the big question: once a year and three months have passed, can I actually hit the beach or use a tanning bed without issues? I basically spent my entire last summer hiding from the sun because of this thing—didn't even go on vacation! How long are you actually supposed to stay out of the sun or away from tanning beds after surgery? Here is what the scar looks like after a year http://img27.imageshack.us/i/122710162719.jpg/ Thanks in advance for any help

or do you just skip it entirely 😁

I honestly wonder if people even have a conscience—like, are they actually aware of what they're doing in the moment? 😕
Aaron Walker10 said:Man, about four years ago, I had to go under the knife to remove a mole on my left shoulder. It was this dark, almost grayish spot that sat completely flat against my skin, but I just couldn't ignore it anymore, so I went through with the surgery. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned, and I ended up with a massive keloid scar. To make matters worse, there were some complications later on, and I actually had to have surgery on that same spot again. Now, I’m stuck with an even larger keloid right on my shoulder—it’s raised, pinkish, and honestly, it's pretty embarrassing. I find myself constantly wearing bandages just to hide it because I feel so self-conscious about it. I even spent a significant amount of money seeing private specialists for laser treatments, but absolutely nothing worked. On top of that, I had surgery to remove a tumor on my knee last year, and now I have this long scar on my leg that looks just like the one on my shoulder.

It is truly incredible how much these two scars weigh on me mentally.😢

@Brenda Ramos2 and @Aaron Walker10—don't let those scars get to you. I've got two myself, and at some point, you just gotta accept it. I mean, obviously, life would be better if they weren't there, but hey, if we actually had a choice in the matter, we wouldn't have picked them, right? 😢 And @Aaron Walker10, I'm so sorry you've been going through all that health stuff—really hoping everything is okay now. 😘
Jonathan Perez88 said:It’s about $90—not that I can say if it actually works, since I don't have any other products to compare it against 😁. That’s exactly why I was asking how long the application needs to last. I don't want to deal with someone telling me five years from now, "Well, if you had just kept applying it for six months, you would've seen results," or some other nonsense.

anyone 🙂 🙂

Man, I'd love to know that too—how long we're talking here? 😕😕
Jonathan Perez88 said:No problem at all... glad to hear you're seeing some improvement 🙂

Right now I’m using my second tube of Contrakel. I started out with something from Aven, then tried Contractubex—but that stuff made my scar itch like crazy... so the pharmacist recommended what I'm using now.

So, how much did that Contrakel run you? And does it actually work?
Jonathan Perez88 said:It’s red, though definitely paler than it was right after the surgery. I’m dealing with a vertical incision on my abdomen—about 21 inches long🙂 plus three drain sites.

I also have four incisions and a drain from a laparoscopic procedure about four months ago (nearly five now), and those are actually looking pretty faded.

And listen—I was just chilling today and happened to glance down at my arm, and honestly? Everything looks pretty straight... well, not *everything*, but most of it is! I'm so happy thanks to you, honey 😘 so what are you using to rub on it?
Jonathan Perez88 said:It’s been four months since my surgery—depending on how busy I am during the day, I’m applying treatment to the scar about four to six times. Now, I'm wondering exactly how much longer I should stick to this routine? Maybe someone else can weigh in on the topic 😁.

Is it still red? Mine's starting to turn white
and honestly, I doubt it—can't you tell this thread is drifting off course? 😁
Jonathan Perez88 said:No, now I have a question 😁. How long does it actually make sense to keep using scar creams?

Man, I wouldn't know—I've been slathering it on ever since my scabs fell off, just like you suggested... so maybe a month or two? I heard you really have to be stubborn about it—like, applying it 3 or 4 times a day and giving the scar a little massage if possible. Mine actually looks way better now because of it.
thanks everyone 🙂—though I'm just sticking with Bepanthen and Contractubex
Thomas Rodriguez14 said:Hey everyone—it’s been a few autumns since I had this tattoo removed, and here’s how it’s looking now http://yfrog.com/86031010155712j will this actually fade out? The little bumps that were there are gone, but seriously, is this redness ever going to chill out?

anyone 🙂

Jonathan Perez88 said:It'll pull itself together. Calm down—what exactly did you expect after having your thyroid removed? It just takes time (several months, maybe even longer), and then things will be fine 🙂.

Ugh, thank you! 🙂 One of the spots actually filled in already, but the other one is still there—though it seems to be slowly getting back to normal

Look, I’ve been there too—but seriously, DON’T try to scrub them off or anything. You don't want to mess things up, and you definitely don't want to wreck your skin or ruin the tattoo itself
I’ve got three tattoos, right? And they only popped up on one of them—and get this, I didn't even touch it, they just cleared up on their own
Jonathan Perez88 said:It won't last. Honestly, I don't think you should be applying Contractubex while there's still a scab present.

So my last scab finally popped off tonight—here's the view 😢😢 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

http://img23.imageshack.us/i/013110224800.jpg/ Is this redness gonna fade? If so, how long am I looking at?
Hey everyone, it's me again—back with my tattoo scar situation. I'd love for you guys to take a look and give me your honest thoughts; I know nobody here is a doctor, but still... check out these little pits. The scabs haven't fully fallen off yet, but I'm honestly terrified they're going to leave permanent marks http://img695.imageshack.us/i/012810182528.jpg/ So, what do you think? Should I start using Contractubex?
Right now I'm just sticking with some Panthenol, but I was thinking about switching over to Contractubex later on
thanks everyone! As far as I'm concerned, my skin and wounds are healing pretty fast—and honestly, once all those scabs finally drop off, I’ll start using my Contractubex
