Anyone dealt with adenomyosis? in Health ·
So, I went in for my routine OB-GYN ultrasound today, and she dropped this bombshell: apparently, my uterine lining is thickened—some kind of tissue overgrowth is happening inside.
She also mentioned that this is a common issue for women approaching menopause—which is a bit rich considering I’m only 26 and haven't even been pregnant yet—and suggested that in about 10 to 15 years, I’ll likely be dealing with heavy, painful bleeding.
When I asked if this could impact my ability to get pregnant or conceive, her answer was... well, let's just say it wasn't exactly direct. It was more of a "don't sweat it, 20% of women deal with this" type of shrug. She told me it’s nothing major and to just come back for a follow-up in a year.

The official note on my chart says "uterus mildly adenomyotic."

Naturally, I get home and immediately start digging through medical journals, only to find out that an adenomyoma is a benign uterine tumor.
Then comes the inevitable late-night Google spiral—reading horror stories about surgical removals, the similarities to endometriosis, and all the potential struggles with fertility and getting pregnant. 😱

Now I'm stuck wondering: should I actually be worried, or should I just take my doctor's word for it and move on? I really don't want to start trying for a baby in a couple of years only to find out we missed something huge.

If anyone has dealt with this before, please, I'd love to hear your experience.🙂
Dealing with bad cramps? in Women's Health ·
Usually, my cycle is pretty predictable—regular, nothing crazy. I might deal with some pain on the first day, but honestly, that only happens maybe twice a year, so a quick ibuprofen usually handles it. They typically last about seven days, though the final two days are usually just very light spotting.

But today—it’s day seven—and there isn't even a hint of it slowing down. 😲
The blood looks significantly darker than usual, and yesterday and today have been full of heavy clots.
On top of that, the pain hasn't let up at all; it's constant.

I actually went ahead and booked an appointment with my gynecologist for Monday, because I was under the impression everything would be wrapped up by tomorrow at the latest... 🙄

Does anyone else ever have months where their period just feels completely "off"?

🤔 This happened once before—my doctor told me it was likely just stress-related since I had to get my wisdom teeth pulled that same month. 😕

Give it a few days to let your eyes adjust!
I went through something remarkably similar—my prescription jump was significantly higher with my new pair than it was with the old ones.
I felt a bit unsteady on my feet for a while there 😉

But look, if the sensation doesn't subside within a couple of days, you really ought to head back to the optometrist to ensure they actually got the measurements right—it’s entirely possible someone missed a step in the process.
My boyfriend, for instance, just couldn't get used to them no matter how much time passed, only to find out—get this—that the lenses hadn't even been manufactured correctly in the first place!

Adam Palmer2 said:haha😁—roughly how much did you guys end up taking? And more importantly, did it actually leave you feeling any different, or was it all for nothing?

I actually sat down once with every intention of seeing this through, but it tasted so utterly revolting that I couldn't even manage to finish a quarter of it!

Jamie Clark74 said:For centuries, older folks—back when being in your 40s or 60s actually meant you were elderly—have complained about the exact same thing. Plenty of people can tell when the weather is shifting without ever looking at a forecast, simply because they feel the changes deep in their bones.

Now that I’m in my sixties, I can feel every single drop in pressure, every minor injury from work, and every bone ache just as clearly as anyone else.

👋 👋

The issue here—and this is the real kicker—is that I’m not even in that 40-to-60 demographic; I’m only 25. It’s incredibly frustrating to deal with these weather shifts when I end up feeling like my grandmother!
Anyway, I spent quite a bit of time outdoors this weekend—and by "quite a bit," I mean a solid three or four hours, which is easily 100% more than my usual quota 😁—and despite the miserable weather, I’ve been feeling pretty good, though I am feeling a bit sleepy.

boldeagle3, looks like you and I are the only ones here considered "problematic"! 😁

It’s as if nobody else is suffering through these weather shifts... or perhaps they've just collectively surrendered to the chaos!

Over this past year, I’ve noticed that these shifting weather patterns are absolutely killing me. Whenever a storm is brewing, I get these dull, unrelenting headaches—just constant—and I feel completely sluggish and drained. My blood pressure drops, too, leaving me feeling so lightheaded I’m practically on the verge of vomiting.

It used to be an occasional thing—something I might feel right before a massive thunderstorm rolled through the Midwest😁

But now? That’s become the exception rather than the rule. I wake up, and even before I’ve had a chance to glance out the window, I know exactly what the weather is doing.

And frankly, I can't stomach the idea that this is just my new reality—that my ability to function on a daily basis is going to be held hostage by the atmospheric pressure.

Even the news cycles lean into it: they’ll report on how "weather-sensitive" people will be moody or lethargic tomorrow, yet nobody ever mentions if there’s actually a way to manage it.

I don't mean a "cure" in the traditional sense—I'm not looking for a magic pill or anything like that—but rather, is there any way to help the body become less susceptible to these shifts? Perhaps through adjusting vitamin intake, minerals, hydration levels... or something else entirely?

I would truly appreciate any practical advice you all might have.👋

You’re going to need to get an eye swab done.
I’d say even your primary care physician could send you for one—it shouldn't be out of the question.

There is actually a possibility that you're dealing with chlamydia in the eye. I went through this myself; it wasn't active, but my ophthalmologist insisted on sending me for testing before she'd even let me start wearing contacts—just to be safe...

And honestly? It was a good call.
Chicken noodle soup recipe in Health ·
My sister and I had this whole plan to tackle making some homemade chicken noodle soup together this week—but honestly, I rolled in from my trip so late last night that I’m already feeling the burnout. Between the travel fatigue and eating nothing but junk on the road, I feel like I'm one step away from a total meltdown just from being hungry. 😁
I suspect we might have to push the soup idea back a bit until there's actually a decent variety of fruits and veggies available at the grocery store (you know, for those specific days when you're pairing them with the soup).

from the pipa. Washington, D.C.

I haven't been able to get used to anything else—honestly, once you see the kind of residue left in the bathtub after just a few days, you can't help but feel a sense of dread regarding what that stuff is doing to my kidneys...
Running a slight fever in Health ·
Says... fever, vitamins, bed rest... the same old story every single time.

I’d say she’s actually smarter than the doctor I saw—the one who thought Zithromax was the magic cure for absolutely everything, basically nuking my immune system until there was nothing left. Just a total amateur...

Back to the point: is this actually the flu, or just some random virus? What else could cause such a sudden, aggressive onset?

A colleague of mine caught it over the weekend, meanwhile, my boss is coughing, sneezing, aching all over, running a fever—yet she still shows up to the office!! 🙄
Good grief! She better not even think about getting me sick! 🙂
Lately, I’ve been feeling incredibly drowsy.

By 11:00 PM, I’m practically half-dead from exhaustion and head straight to bed—but then, when my alarm goes off at 7:25 AM, I honestly feel like I could sleep for several more hours...🙂

And even after that, it takes forever to actually wake up... sometimes I don't really snap out of it until after my first break.

Is it actually possible to train yourself to function on less sleep?

I mean, I've spent my entire life getting about nine hours a night—now suddenly I'm down to seven? And I want it to be enough (rather than just dragging myself around like a zombie, counting down the minutes until the weekend).

I’ve spent the last few days just wandering around in this freezing cold...😱

My boyfriend has these incredibly stubborn ideas—we actually found ourselves out at a concert in the middle of a blizzard, sitting there in 0°F weather. 😁

Well, we were driving an SUV, so it wasn't entirely unbearable, I suppose.

But then, he decided to take me to one of those winter festivals; my feet were so frozen solid that I had to huddle up by the fireplace for about four hours just to thaw out properly.🙂
My grandmother actually went through individual therapy sessions at the Mayo Clinic, and later moved over to Mihanović—so you might want to look into things there if you're serious about finding answers.

Her osteoporosis really started getting ahead of her, which meant she had to undergo several different types of treatments; I know for a fact that specialized physical therapy exercises were a core part of her regimen.

Seriously, go ask them!
My vision took a massive hit during my college years—all those late-night study sessions and staring at screens until my eyes practically burned. I went from a negligible -0.50 to a staggering -3.50 in what felt like the blink of an eye.

So, what? I managed to tank my GPA by half a point just because of one single—and let's be honest, massive—exam. Truly a stellar performance on my part.

I honestly find this whole "eye exercises" and the idea that avoiding glasses can prevent vision deterioration to be complete nonsense—I truly don't buy it. There was a period where I didn't bother wearing my glasses at all, except for when I was sitting in a dark movie theater or attending lectures, and frankly, nothing changed; if anything, my vision stayed exactly the same.

The prescription for lenses and glasses should always be at least 0.25 weaker than the actual measurement—it’s a necessary precaution to prevent the eye from becoming "lazy."

How did I miss the point of this thread before? 🙂

It’s a lot easier to bundle up in full "tactical gear" now that I realize everyone else is also just pretending they aren't wearing double socks under their boots.

Seriously—I see all these women out there in those cropped puffer jackets, no joke 😁, beanies, gloves—and honestly, mad respect! I can barely survive the weather as it is.
This year, I finally invested in some Gore-Tex boots—waterproof, obviously—so at least my feet stay dry, and today's slush in Chicago isn't soaking through my socks. ☕

Speaking of socks—my boyfriend actually got me five or six pairs of heavy wool Pendleton socks this year; I wear them over my regular ones whenever I'm just lounging around the house.

But I have to ask—is anyone else's skin just absolutely cracking from this cold? I’m being aggressive with the hand cream and ChapStick, which helps a little, but the cuticles... oh god, the cuticles! 😠 😠

It is an unsolvable crisis!
Help!

I'm off to go soak my hands in hot water now.
🙂
Yes, there’s definitely an expiration date on that.

Actually, if you ask me, it feels more like two weeks tops.
Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
Thanks!

I’m thinking about heading over to the clinic in Brooklyn—so, just a heads-up for anyone interested—they actually allow you to get checked out during the afternoon hours there; it's quick, handled by appointment, and you just pay on the spot.
Of course, I haven't even managed to squeeze that into my schedule yet! 😵

I’m just praying I don't get hit by another nasty bug before I can actually get those exams finished—winter is barely even starting, and I've already been stuck on antibiotics twice!
