I honestly cannot wrap my head around children mocking someone just because they don't have enough cash for ice cream🤷. Even if they did, the solution isn't to hand out money to a little $1.75 (for the record, the teacher didn't give $1.75 for ice cream, she gave $30), but rather to discipline them right then and there—remember, there are 19 of them, so think twice before you mock someone for being broke, and they shouldn't be taken to places like that for a while as punishment.

No one asked the teacher for any money, so I don't think she should even expect a refund, though I am certain she isn't exactly swimming in cash herself.

I guess I could also point out that people who find $6.75 to be a problematic amount of money aren't signing their kids up for optional summer camps starting at $400.

The real issue here is that the mom didn't step up and handle things with the teacher to make sure this doesn't happen again. Instead, she just let the little guy deal with it on his own while the teacher keeps dragging him along by the sleeve.

I agree that Mom should have handled this privately with the teacher herself; I think everyone is on the same page regarding that. And look, maybe she can just buy him a burger at McDonald's if he doesn't have to pay for it a day in advance... $15 I would much rather fund a trip for my child than waste money on fast food. As for summer school, I couldn't care less; that's her money to spend how she chooses, and she certainly didn't choose to blow it all at McDonald's...

Let me repeat: you knew they were going to McDonald's, and if you didn't have the extra $1.75 for ice cream, you shouldn't have let him go (because like you said, you know exactly how much it sucks to have to stare at the floor). The teacher would have refunded that $15 you paid, rather than putting the kid in that position. You knew what would happen—that all the other kids would be eating and buying stuff while your little guy stood there on the sidelines. You could have prevented that.
And honestly, in my opinion, the biggest fault here is yours. The teacher told the kid to pay her back instead of you walking over to that school just 60 meters away (literally a five-minute walk) to return the money or sending it via the kid that same day, so she wouldn't have to keep pulling on his sleeve. You opened this whole drama up and expected everyone to just jump on her and her actions.
And yeah, you are trashing the teacher and all the teachers at the school, which is pretty obvious from your post about the ones who just sit around in the lounge eating and drinking and barely move once the bell rings..

And again, you know that those $6.75 probably didn't mean much to the teacher compared to you. Maybe she even pulled the last $6.75 out of her own pocket for your son just so he wouldn't feel left out, and she politely told him his mom would pay her back. Maybe that money was just as tight for her as it is for you??!!

And about your little guy—if I remember right, he’s 10 now? That’s plenty old enough for you to walk him through certain situations. You basically sent him off to McDonald's without a dime in his pocket, so the least you could've done was tell him to eat the lunch you packed or just make sure he knows not to take money from strangers.
Also, this whole thing about having four kids and struggling with income? It honestly has zero to do with the topic at hand.

I really don't get why you even started this thread if you expected everyone to jump on board with your specific take. This is a forum. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion, and it’s totally uncalled for to start attacking people just because they don't see things your way.

Why shouldn't a child go to a museum or ride an escalator and spend the day with his friends if he isn't planning on eating at McDonald's? Does that mean if everyone decides to grab ice cream in the plaza (and I've seen plenty of those scenes in the summer, a scoop of $2.25 btw), then he shouldn't have gone to see Washington, D.C. either?!
As for the second bolded part—though I could have easily highlighted the whole text—people who aren't so broke that $6.75 represents a life-altering amount of money don't blow it at McDonald's on some Crappy stuff, whether it's for their own kid or someone else's.

I am genuinely curious about that meeting this Monday; if it’s true that the teacher actually demanded the money back, then we have hit rock bottom.
I was incredibly mature and responsible even at ten years old, and I remember always being mindful of the price tag and whether I truly needed something whenever I picked out a gift, but not all children possess that level of restraint—especially little boys at that age. It is frankly idiotic to pin any responsibility on a child whose mind is solely occupied by the smell of french fries and burgers. All those previous agreements just fall apart, particularly when you realize that might be their one chance to grab a meal at McDonald's in ages.
The teacher is entirely at fault, not because she bought a small meal for a student, but because she had the audacity to ask for the money back afterward.
If it were some toy that everyone else was grabbing, I wouldn't have bought it for him, but for a meal? I would have. It is honestly quite pathetic to think that kids are so hungry for food, sweets, or McDonald's😢 because those things mean something to them at that age, and it truly disgusts me sometimes to see how much candy my nephew and relatives collectively hoard.
I would have bought it and left it at that.

And now I am absolutely incensed that the mother handled the situation this way; it's that classic "poor thing will always pay you back" mentality, which I have seen proven wrong far too many times in my professional life. If I were being rude, I'd say it plainly, but if I were playing it polite, I would look her dead in the eye with a cold stare and tell her, "You know, I can't afford to pay you back right now, things are really tight this month, which is why I packed sandwiches." Then, about two weeks later, I would drop those $7.00 off in cash just to make her feel awkward.🙂 And now, if anyone dares to tell me the teacher doesn't have the money either—then what was she giving in the first place if she's broke? Whenever I gave money, I always had it to spare, and I mentally wrote it off from the start: if they pay me back, great; if not, so be it.

Is anyone else having trouble accessing the JP Morgan Chase portal today? I keep getting constant warnings about security breaches and unsafe connections, and I really need to get in to check something on my account...🙂

I just hope it isn't Dr. Ružica Živković, because I honestly want to run as far away from her as possible... 😬

😂😂 But honestly, it isn't even funny when I stop to think about everything...🤦I managed to escape.

I am currently searching for an ophthalmologist. I have received my referral for a specialist consultation, but I am unsure if I need to schedule an appointment through the community health center first, or if I can simply show up around 8:00 AM and hope to be finished by noon. I am aware that hospital appointments require prior scheduling, but does anyone know what the approximate wait time is for an exam like this?

For the last couple of days, I've been dealing with these intense headaches right above my nose, specifically where my eyebrows meet. Since I've been fighting off a nasty cold and flu for the past week, I'm wondering if it might be my sinuses or something else... anyway, if anyone has any insight on this, I would truly appreciate it. 🙂

That sounds like a sinus infection for sure. You'll probably need antibiotics, but you really ought to see a doctor so they can check you out and write a prescription.
Flat feet help? in Health ·
There are several threads open here, yet I fail to see any specific mention of which exercises actually target flat feet—especially since walking on gravel is currently out of the question for me. I am an adult now, and the pain in my knees is becoming quite significant due to my inward gait, leaving me at a loss... I have no interest in purchasing those generic drugstore insoles; I would much rather have custom orthotics made from a mold of my own feet. If anyone has any recommendations, please do share them

fadedpilot2 said:Regarding those leg issues, I’d definitely suggest seeing a physiatrist. I went to Nemetov. The doctor there (she's young) is wonderful. I don't have my paperwork on me right now to check her name, but I think they don't have many specialists there. If you really need me to find out, I can look. I saw you mentioned exercises... I did physical therapy, and she even showed me some specific moves and gave me printouts and everything...
As for a private orthopedist, try Trnje Medical Center—it's right behind the police station at 44 Kruge. I went there on a recommendation. The woman is great. They made custom insoles for me after doing a full exam, and I just paid for everything all at once $165.

Thanks, I honestly wasn't expecting such a fast or detailed reply. Yeah, I'll give Nemetov a shot; I've already gone there for my physicals. That orthopedist in Trnje is way too far for me, but maybe I'll make the trip since I'm running out of ideas. Today was the wake-up call that I really need to start taking care of my feet and knees. Thanks.

Looking through this thread, I see there’s barely one response for every ten questions asked, but I have to try because they’ll shut this topic down if I attempt to start a new one. I am looking for a reliable private orthopedic specialist; I deal with significant fallen arches and several other foot issues. I previously saw a doctor on Petrova Street who told me $133 that he doesn't actually specialize in bunions and suggested I just head over to St. Spirit, book an appointment, and wait two months... I'd much rather find someone who actually knows what they're doing, perhaps someone who can design custom orthotics or at least walk me through some corrective exercises, here in New York City
Visa Prepaid Refresh card in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
I’m planning a trip and considering just grabbing a VISA Prepaid Gift Card. I don't strictly care if it works online, but I really want to avoid any headaches at ATMs or when paying in shops. Has anyone actually tried using one abroad? Also, does the currency conversion from dollars to pounds—in my case—absolutely murder you with fees?
Intel Visa in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Here I am again. I called Chase and the representative was incredibly helpful; she explained everything clearly and even went out of her way to look up the details she didn't initially know. I was worried they’d be charging me a fortune in monthly maintenance fees, but the fee is just $9.25 for the first six months, plus an additional $2.75 per month if I want online banking so I can check my balance whenever I feel like it. As for closing the account, I just have to submit a request which doesn't cost anything, and Intel is back on my shortlist... well, now I just have one more thing to decide, thanks everyone

Mark Wilson66 said:If you look into Chase, whether it's a standard checking account or a foreign currency account, you can get an Intel card for either. You won't be able to overdraw, so it's pretty secure—it just comes down to whether you want to deposit US dollars or a different currency, so pick whichever fits your needs better. With the standard checking, there aren't even monthly maintenance fees, whereas the foreign currency one might have a small fee twice a year, maybe around $4 each.

Well, thanks, you've really inspired my interest in Chase. They also offer those prepaid Maestro gift cards, which makes me think an Intel card isn't even worth considering anymore. I actually found that orange Visa card sitting in my drawer, and I could probably just call them to activate it, though I'm sure that would come with some sort of monthly fee requirement—and since I have a plan with Wells Fargo, I really don't want to take on more obligations. I hate being tied down by recurring costs... 😉especially since I rarely use the card anyway, and from everything I've heard lately regarding Wells Fargo, trying to close an account or cancel a card there is practically mission impossible. Now I'm going to go hunt for some PDFs online detailing experiences with using prepaid cards abroad 😁, though I might eventually circle back to an Intel card if I decide to stick with Chase.
Intel Visa in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Thanks, this sounds perfect for me, but I’d need to have an account and a checking account with them first, which just isn't worth the hassle right now since I’d probably only need this for international roaming once a year during a trip somewhere.
Intel Visa in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
I’m posting here because I honestly feel like an idiot already. I just spent ten minutes with a woman at a Chase branch, and I still don't get any of this. I have the Maestro and the Visa
Intel (both credit and debit), and while the foreign currency debit card makes sense—I can load whatever amount of cash I want onto it for when I'm traveling—this credit card situation is driving me crazy. I need to book flights online, and the teller was trying to convince me that I can't go into a negative balance with it, but she also said I can't just pre-load a specific amount onto it either. So what am I supposed to do? If I give Wizz Air my card details, how does the bill actually get settled? Does it send a statement to my house later, or do I absolutely need to have the funds sitting in my account beforehand? To be honest, the idea of handing over card numbers for an account that allows me to go into debt, even with a tiny limit, is completely unappealing to me.
Is there actually an option with any bank out there where I can pay for things online using a card that I personally control? I want a card where I decide exactly how much money goes on it, ensuring nobody can mess with my finances online as long as I keep the balance at zero, unless I specifically choose to add more.

If a psychiatrist prescribes medication, you really ought to follow through with it. I watched this program ages ago about what they call night terrors here in the States—cases where mothers would actually suffocate their own children because they thought they were protecting them from some imaginary threat. Just do a little digging online; there's a ton of information out there. I put in a bit of effort to find this for you:
