mistybear4 said:Look, you're totally right... I'm losing my grip because I’m basically juggling five different jobs on this computer at once—my brain is fried. Omega-3s are unsaturated fatty acids, I've typed that out a million times already, but this time I accidentally wrote amino acids... I know my stuff, I swear! It's just this exhaustion and the whole jet lag thing from switching time zones that's throwing me completely off my game... 😁

🙏

unsaturated fatty acids.

fats are a whole different thing... 😉

mistybear4 said:you're kind of missing the mark here—it’s actually both... you gotta strengthen the muscle AND nourish the joint (like the knee) with those unsaturated fatty acids (omega-3s)... 🙂

Look, you're tripping a little bit... the whole point is that it's both—strengthening the muscle while feeding the joint with omega-3s. But here's the thing: all amino acids have a peptide bond, which includes a carbonyl group—that's just oxygen bonded to an sp2 carbon... so technically, they're all "unsaturated." And for the love of god, omega-3s ARE NOT amino acids. You clearly skimmed the article... we're talking about fatty acids here, not proteins.

mistybear4 said:Yeah, fair point—I totally overshot there. My brain was heading one way while my fingers were typing something else entirely...
Basically, you've gotta look at carbs as "good" versus "bad" based on density—it’s all about learning how to pick the high-quality stuff... 🙂

Nope, you're dead wrong. Carbs aren't some binary system of "high density" vs "low density," and that definitely isn't how you judge if they're actually good or bad for you. I mean, remember what we were talking about regarding books last time? It's the same logic...

madwoman said:So why even bother? Like, what's actually in cheese and eggs that I'm missing out on?🙂

Protein, obviously—and in way higher concentrations than you'd ever find in veggies or grains. Proteins are built from amino acids, and some of those are "essential," which is just a fancy way of saying your body can't make them itself... so you have to eat them. Period.

Those vegetarians who don't touch anything animal-based at all—I'm talking zero eggs, zero cheese, and don't even get me started on fish—they really need to be educated on how to actually fuel themselves. They have to be super careful about how they combine foods. And look, I'm not saying a vegetarian or vegan diet is inherently bad, it’s just... reaching peak nutrition is way more complicated that way. It's not as simple as just cutting stuff out.

But hey, that’s why we have professionals, right? Nutritionists. If you're making big moves with your diet—like, if you're completely nuking entire food groups from your life—you should probably talk to an expert about what you need to swap in to stay healthy.🙂

yeah, obviously slamming dairy all day isn't exactly a health hack—plus, you know, the weight gain... ugh.

and don't even get me started on water... what a mess that can be if you overdo it, obviously... 🙄
mistybear4 said:There are plenty of people on this forum who think their degree basically makes them some kind of god... 😉

Good grief, you're back at it again...

Are you trying to diagnose me or something? 😉

Look, I'm not a doctor, so let's just rule that theory out immediately. 😎

As far as that doctor is concerned, having a medical degree gives them the authority to decide on treatment plans for their patients—it definitely doesn't give them a free pass to scream at people in a waiting room. But hey, if calling them "god-given" helps you sleep better at night, be my guest...

darkbison81, I’ll just bring you all this "diabetic chocolate" people drop on me when they're trying to be extra nice or whatever 🤣

I just shove the stuff in the fridge... because honestly, I'm sticking to the real deal whenever I'm feeling a craving

I don't know, people claim the diabetic stuff is actually okay too 😉

not that I'm ever gonna go checking

darkbison81 said:whatever, man... I know some old-school math professors who basically have their own internal measurement system based entirely on chemists 😬 and they always think the biologists are way off the charts 😁

🤣

but honestly, that's not even the point—it's just that biologists are an easy target because, let's face it, they traditionally look a hell of a lot better than the chemists 😁

fair enough, I guess... 😎

hey...😍

if you were, like, accidentally—just purely by accident—thinking about me when you said that... what you're calling "patience" is actually just pure EGO. 😉

...well, it finally happened. It actually happened. 👍

Mostly just doing checkups and running ultrasounds... turns out that’s pretty much the bread and butter around here.

Yeah, look—it’s 2D ultrasound, but we aren't talking about 3D... those are two totally different things altogether. Honestly, people get them mixed up all the time and it's kind of wild... 🙂

So, I was thinking about those prenatal scans—you know, the whole ultrasound thing... and it’s wild how much technology has changed since, like, my mom’s era. You’ve got the standard 2D scans which are basically the baseline, right? That’s what everyone gets—it’s the industry standard—but let’s be real, the images are kind of... meh. Just these grainy, gray blobs that look more like a smudge on a windshield than an actual human being... if you can even tell what you're looking at. But then you have the 3D stuff—man, that’s a whole different beast. It gives you this incredibly realistic, almost lifelike view of the baby... like, you can actually see their little nose or whatever... it’s pretty intense when you realize how far we've come from just staring at static on a screen...

So, I'm guessing you aren't even touching fish?

If that's the case—and let's be real, it probably is—you seriously need to corner your nutritionist and make them walk you through a meal plan that actually makes sense... like, step by step.

I really hope you're at least getting some cheese and eggs in there though.

restlessowl91 said:Does anyone know where I can get an ovarian scan done with 3D ultrasound?

restlesspanther1 said:uhm... at a gynecologist's office. 😉

Wait, is 3D ultrasound actually standard equipment in OB-GYN offices now?

But seriously, why on earth would you need a 3D scan specifically for ovaries? I'm guessing some specialist suggested it to you? Or maybe just Google did...
Down syndrome in Health ·
Ronald Collins2 said:And then there's the big, messy question... how do you even wrap your head around the possibility of needing an abortion if it turns out the baby has Down syndrome? I mean, by the time you get those test results back, you’ve probably been carrying that child for four or five months—depending on how long the lab takes—and you’ve already fallen in love with them from the second you found out you were pregnant. It's just... heavy.

Wait, why on earth do you think a woman carrying a baby with Down syndrome HAS to have an abortion?

Plus, there's the other side of it—if someone decides they just aren't equipped to raise a child with a chromosomal disorder, they might make the call to end the pregnancy themselves. That's their choice.

Honestly, if a woman is dead set on not terminating the pregnancy regardless of what the tests say, the whole point of doing an amniocentesis is really just about getting a head start on preparing for a baby with Down syndrome...
Betty Bennett10 said:Ugh, seriously, what am I even supposed to write when I'm editing a post? I just typed PARDON... isn't that enough? Guess I'll have to actually sit down and read through the forum rules properly 😛

The guy is just raw material 😁—everyone knows that. Personally, whenever I'm losing my mind, I just start chanting oooommm...

oh, my bad 🙄 just keep on singing

I hate editing stuff after the fact. It’s not even about the forum rules, I just think it looks tacky 😉
Betty Bennett10 said:Two out of FOUR, haha 😁 still not a majority, but hey, at least it's half.

Look, nothing justifies a reaction like that—period. I honestly think it was just a massive nervous breakdown rather than him being an arrogant jerk. He told the patient she needed to call him "Doctor" instead of "Mister," so you could argue he was just offended by how she spoke to him (I mean, calling a doctor "Mister" isn't exactly class act, even if the lady was clearly just messing around). But, don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly out here defending Petar Jukić... he acted totally primitive and it was just unacceptable.

Goodness, I wasn't counting, I was just going off what you wrote...

I didn't realize you were gonna go back and edit your post without even mentioning it, too...

Whatever, the guy is just stuck-up and rude.

Me? When I'm stressed, I just faceplant into a chocolate bar.
Betty Bennett10 said:rustymoose54 is talking about stuff I didn't even bother quoting—mostly because honestly, it's way too much effort 😁 and I wasn't really aiming my comments at one specific post, just the general vibe and reactions to this whole mess... I mean, this isn't exactly the first place I go to read people's takes on an article like this anyway.

But hey, since we’re all just nitpicking now—two out of five doesn't exactly scream "majority," does it? That's what I'm talking about regarding this specific thread; I haven't seen or read any other reactions outside of this mess.

And just because he's some big-shot specialist doesn't give him a free pass to pull that "well, I'm a doctor" card as an argument. It's totally lame.
Megan Morales5 said:Yeah, maybe we should actually read the posts we're replying to... 😉

No, I wasn't talking about READING—I meant actual QUOTING...

I mean, obviously you gotta read them, but when people drop these massive walls of text quoting some random news article, I usually just skip right past what the OP actually thinks. My bad...
Betty Bennett10 said:If you ask me, all this news tells us is that Dr. Petar Jukić is just a rude guy—it doesn't mean he's a bad doctor. He's clearly an expert at what he does.

Look, I went back and edited my previous post because apparently, you misinterpreted it as me saying he isn't actually good at his job... which isn't what I meant at all.

Anyway, it’s honestly pathetic that this absolute clown thinks he lives in a country where having a fancy degree gives him a free pass to be a total jerk to his own patients.

And judging by that "Yes, Doctor, whatever you say" nonsense he pulled (🤣), it's pretty obvious that's exactly how his head works...
Yeah, I haven't actually read what Adam Wells5 wrote yet,

but man, after reading your take... I kind of felt pretty misrepresented. Look, I'm not sitting here saying every single doctor in America is terrible, or acting all stuck-up like that one idiot we were talking about.

Megan Morales5, listen—Betty Bennett10 was actually talking about Adam Wells5 and boldeagle3. It probably wouldn't hurt to actually quote the posts you're reacting to, you know?
And in just one single post, they go and lump all doctors together like some kind of monolith...
