Thurman 👍
Personally, I think it’s pretty chill—definitely doesn't bother me at all.

But hey, if it’s bugging you—> just hit up a speech therapist and see what they can do.

Noah Myers8:
I'm fixing these up—supposedly they make you skinny or whatever.

not ; for those looking above—yeah, I put on 5 lbs. Honestly? Not even mad about it, felt like I needed the extra cushion anyway—plus, I’ve heard pretty much everyone else drinking these things ends up gaining a few pounds too.👎

Kenneth Hernandez67 said:A Cilest...🙄 For those first 3-6 months, you get hit with every single symptom the OBGYN warned you about—basically just telling you to "tough it out."

I’m assuming that includes the depression and mood swings 👎 which is why I ended up getting a vasectomy instead 😁 😁 😁

So, I'm Diane, 35, originally prescribed this for PCOS. That cleared up, but then my doctor suggested using it as birth control—so I've been on it for about 2 years now, with some breaks here and there. My liver tests and bloodwork come back fine, but seeing this actually gave me a bit of a panic attack. Plus, I smoke... so yeah.

By the way, my skin has gone totally downhill since I started Diane. Never had an issue before—not even back in high school—but now I break out every single month right before my period. 😕 The only upside is that I don't deal with cramps anymore, and my periods aren't dragging on for 10 days like they used to.

Kenneth Hernandez67 said:Interesting... back when I first started pills a couple of years ago, my OBGYN told me Diane-35 isn't even technically a contraceptive—it just happens to work that way because of the hormone combo.

So he put me on Cilest instead, which apparently you can stay on for the long haul.

Now I'm just wondering what kind of mess I'll be dealing with in five years.🙄

Wait, why would Cilest turn into garbage after five years? My doctor gave me Diane for some hormonal imbalance issues, but he said they're totally chill and I could take them for like ten years straight—for birth control too, no biggie.🙄 😠

Kenneth Hernandez67; are you getting any side effects from the Cilest (weight gain, migraines, nausea, etc.)? And are you cycling off them or just taking them constantly? I'm ditching the Diane, so I'm hunting for something new...

Lady Norris; an EKG being fine doesn't mean you're clear of blood clots. An EKG just shows how your heart is beating. If you actually want to check your blood status, get a full panel done (! platelets, clotting time, coagulation stuff—basically anything related to platelets, there’s a ton of tests out there).

I've tried Trinovum, Triquilar, and Cilest—
never had an issue with any of them, actually.
But I quit because of my health,
and I’m definitely not going back.
Family history is a thing—you know, breast cancer and all that.
Plus, once I really thought about it, the whole idea just grossed me out.
Messing with hormones? No thanks.
There are pros and cons to having a surname, though...
Stay healthy, ladies.
🙂

Sandra Ruiz4; modern birth control can actually protect you from certain cancers. darkbison81 mentioned this too—sorry if I missed anyone else, I haven't scrolled through everything yet. Also, irregular hormone levels can be way tougher on your breasts than just taking a pill to keep things steady.

Most women aren't even on them just for birth control. I take Diane-35 for PCOS, and after two years, I feel so much better.

True, they can affect cardiovascular health—especially if you have a genetic predisposition and you smoke, yikes. 😢

Most women deal with side effects at first; I had migraines and nausea for the first month, but now I'm fine.

If the side effects are brutal, you just switch brands—everyone reacts differently.

I'm not saying everyone needs hormones, but they sorted out my PCOS and my thyroid issues (which were likely linked to the PCOS, though who knows).

BTW, unfortunately for me, 😁 nothing's grown there, no tears from CJ, stay happy. 😁 😁
Phobias in Health ·
The topic is phobias, though I guess fear and panic attacks fit in here too. I found this thing online a while back (www.mayoclinic.org). It’s pretty straightforward—short, sweet, and actually helpful if you need tips on how to "fight" through it.

Btw, when it comes to specific stuff—like snakes, bugs, flying things, elevators, heights, or planes—they say exposure therapy is the way to go... personally, trying to face my fear of moths did absolutely nothing for me 😉 🙂

Regardless, the article is solid. Since the mechanics behind phobias, fear, and panic attacks are all basically the same, it should be useful...

lonescout2 --> I don't have a direct link handy, but you already started a thread about medical sites, so you can probably dig up more there. Btw, I haven't checked in for a bit, but Yahoo had a pretty decent "health" section
Yeah, hands and liver—sounds ridiculous, I know. And look, I’m not saying it’s some massive crisis. But seriously, just get checked—especially if you’ve been using, or are thinking about starting, birth control or any of those heavy-duty meds. Like I said...
It might be nothing—honestly. But red palms can sometimes signal liver issues (or maybe kidneys)—though it’s not always a disaster. Just get some liver panels done and check your urine.
General discussion on allergies in Health ·
Yeah, so... mine was huge too—I was basically snoring and making all sorts of weird noises through the night. We went to see an ENT specialist who insisted on surgery; I actually bolted out of the office and had my parents chasing me down the streets of Chicago—but that’s a story for another thread.

Anyway, then this old family friend of ours, who happens to be a doctor, gave us a hard "NO."

The adenoids? Honestly, they're enlarged in like 99.99% of kids. At worst, they just shrink back to normal during puberty (or even earlier—mine cleared up around age 10, though it started around 4).

They don't mess with vision or speech patterns.

Allergy symptoms might feel worse if the adenoids are swollen—mostly because your immunity takes a hit or your airways get more clogged—but the enlarged adenoids themselves won't *cause* an allergy. If someone already deals with allergies, there's just a higher chance their adenoids will act up too (along with nose and sinus issues, etc.).

Regarding allergies in general—it's a proven fact that more and more people, especially little kids, are allergic to everything under the sun. It’s a mix of pollution, crappy diets, and whatever else. Plus, allergies can pop up out of nowhere and then totally vanish later on.

I know it sucks when the kids are dealing with it—just keep them seeing the doctor regularly, watch what they eat, and try to dodge the triggers as much as possible (though I know avoiding dust and random stuff is a losing battle sometimes). There's also desensitization therapy—not gonna go into the weeds on that now—but it’s kind of a drag since you have to head in for shots twice a week for ages, and even then, there's no guarantee it'll work.
How do you guys watch movies? in Movies ·
DVDs and DivX—you can actually hit pause whenever you feel like it, or just watch half a movie today and finish the rest tomorrow 🙂

I watched Jackass: The Movie yesterday and I almost lost it—like, I couldn't even look away.
THEY ARE SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry; but I’ve been watching it for a bit now, and while it’s funny here and there at first, it just gets worse as it goes. I ended up turning it off. Btw. the only interesting part is how you can actually become famous just by being an idiot...
