Iconic movie fight scenes in Movies ·
dustyeagle73 said:Once you get to Edward Norton, that's easily one of the best scenes ever. He plays that Nazi guy in Generation X and tells the dude to open his mouth, bite down on the edge of the curb, and then—bam—a kick to the head... absolutely insane.

That was honestly one of the most brutal scenes I've ever watched. 😲
I've seen my fair share of movies, but that one really stuck with me because it was just so chilling. Even though it was intense, it captured the vibe perfectly, and Edward Norton’s performance made it work so well within the movie.

For me, the best fights are usually in those classic mob flicks—like Goodfellas, The Godfather, or Donnie Brasco—but I also think Russell Crowe was incredible in L.A. Confidential. You'd never guess he had that kind of intensity in him.😁

Fight scenes in martial arts movies are also amazing; they just have this unique energy to them. 🙏
Retin-A reviews and experiences? in Health ·
Chloe Cook56 said:Hey everyone, has anyone actually tried this stuff? How did it work for you? I've been using it for about a week now, and my skin is looking way clearer. It wasn't a huge disaster to begin with, but I've got these little red spots left behind—feels like the cream was a bit harsh on those specific areas, but I'm sure they'll clear up. Overall, though, I'm super happy with it. I tried looking for a thread about this, but the only one I found was ancient, so I wanted to see if anyone's currently using it and what kind of results they're getting.

I've used Retin-A before and had nothing but good experiences. Just a heads up: make sure you only dab it directly onto the breakouts rather than slathering it all over your face😉.
el Cid (1961) in Movies ·
Richard Wilson4 said:With the passing of the legendary Charlton Heston, I really recommend everyone check out this movie. It’s a great way to see how epic historical dramas used to be—all about the story rather than just throwing $100 million at CGI effects...

I actually rewatched it yesterday—honestly, probably my fiftieth time watching it, just like pretty much any movie he's in.😍.

BTW, I just realized you asked me a while back who wrote the book😳.
Pierre Corneille wrote Le Cid, which was inspired by The Kingston Trio's version of work by g. de Castro (which itself draws from the legend of el Cid).

That story was one of my absolute favorites growing up in school, mostly because of the movie and how awesome Charlton Heston was in it.
Jessica Nguyen85 said:I feel like the future really boils down to who you are, what you do, and where you happen to be standing... plus, let's assume we're talking about maybe fifty years down the line. I’m also on board with the idea that the future belongs to massive multinational corporations and huge conglomerates, though personally, I don't think their vision is going to be physically violent so much as psychologically coercive. To me, the world is going to end up looking like some weird mashup of >, 1984, and >. Now, if you've got a little common sense and a bit of a non-conforming streak, things will probably feel more like >. If you're dealing with actual or perceived paranoia, it'll lean toward 1984. But if you're a total party animal, obsessed with consumerism and daytime talk shows, then you're headed straight for >. 😁

👍
I agree with most of this, but I've always felt that Philip K. Dick (the guy behind the books that inspired Blade Runner, Minority Report, Total Recall, etc.) actually had the best visions of what's coming. Honestly, Blade Runner remains one of my all-time favorite movies just because of that.
Northern Exposure (1990-1995) in TV Series ·
Sandra Carter53 said:Look, I'm a total Chris fanatic myself😍, but Rob Morrow (Fleischman) was absolutely brilliant in the show. Once he left, everything just lost its spark... 😢
I had no idea Ed was actually a blond; he dyed his hair black specifically for the series—I honestly can't picture him with blond hair. 😁

ps. if my math is right, if they released every season in 4-episode DVD sets, it would cost a fortune$467. 😲

It’s pretty obvious we were all obsessed with Chris😍, even if Fleischman definitely had his moments too😉.
Personally, I thought Shelly was great. She looked like such a typical blond, but then she’d suddenly drop some deep insight out of nowhere. Her marriage was also the first time I saw an age-gap relationship on TV that actually felt totally natural and normal to me.
S-factor in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Mark Diaz5 said:Does anyone know where the S-factor happens in NYC, or when the fall schedule kicks off?

Thanks

If you check out AC Amika, they have the Sensual mix, which is pretty much the same vibe as the S-factor. They host it twice a week, and the membership is $63 a month.
Headaches after washing my hair? in Health ·
Elizabeth Hill48 said:By the way, I have super long wavy hair that takes at least 15 minutes to brush, so I usually end up leaning over the tub, pulling at my hair, and it hurts👎 ...and then later on, I get these sharp pains in my head... maybe it's just because of how I'm positioned....

I never brush mine like that because I noticed that if I do, my whole scalp aches afterward—it honestly feels like someone went at my head with claws. I have really thick, wavy hair that goes down to mid-back, and I always make sure to brush it while standing straight up. First, I dry my roots and the inner layers with a blow dryer, then just let the rest air dry. But whenever I've just waited for it to air dry, I ended up with a headache. Wet hair is pretty heavy, and when it’s this thick, it takes forever to dry, so it's no wonder the head pain starts kicking in. When I wash my own hair, it doesn't even dry on its own after 24 hours... it's a total disaster.
Fashion for curvy girls in Fashion ·
If she’s looking to head out, my friend actually picked up some really cute pieces at H&M recently in a size 16 (she's about 200 lbs). So yeah, you can definitely find stuff that doesn't look totally frumpy🙂 They have an entire "Curve & Plus" section with sizes ranging from 14 to 20!
Usually, Betty Barclay had some nice options too, but they mostly topped out at a size 14.
el Cid (1961) in Movies ·
I watched it a while back and really enjoyed it, though honestly, I just have a huge soft spot for any historical epic featuring Charlton Heston😁 I ended up picking up the book later on and liked that too🙂
northernfox9 said:There’s actually one silver lining to this whole mess: science has basically proven through real-world experience that the older you get, the slower those tumors tend to progress. It’s all tied to metabolism. In a nutshell, someone diagnosed in their seventies has a much higher chance of outlasting the disease itself.

My grandma was diagnosed with stomach cancer when she was 69, but unfortunately, they caught it way too late and it had already hit her lymph nodes. She went through surgery, but it came back two years later, and then again in 2006. The doctors gave her maybe six months to live, yet she managed to hang on for five years without any chemo or radiation. She endured three different surgeries over those five years and recovered well each time, but sadly, her heart just couldn't take the strain—she had angina and three stents—so she passed away late last year. In a way, it was almost a mercy because she was in such agonizing pain during those final weeks, even with the strongest pain patches they could give her. I don't mean to bring everyone down, I just wanted to share what our family went through. At the same time, I know several people close to me who beat breast cancer, lung cancer, and brain tumors, and they've been living healthy lives for years now without any issues. Every cancer case is its own unique battle because every person is different, so please, stay brave. This fight is brutal and doesn't show any mercy.
I'm rooting for all of you. I hope you can cherish every beautiful moment with your loved ones and be there for them when it matters most. And please, remember to take care of yourselves, too. It happens so often that those of us standing by their side end up getting sick or totally burnt out from the sheer amount of energy it takes to fight this horrible disease.
Tight-fitting shoes in Fashion ·
Hehe.. they aren't actually small at all, they just keep throbbing specifically in my right pinky.. damn it!
Tight-fitting shoes in Fashion ·
I heard it’s actually a good idea to rub a little fabric softener on your shoes before putting them on, so I’m going to give that a shot today.🙂
Using drugstore rubbing alcohol works okay too, but after that, my shoes and boots end up bleeding color all over my socks.

nimbleskipper13 said:Henry Miller2, what’s the actual name and look of that spray? I have a feeling it would be just the thing for me... and if you happen to recall the price, let me know... thanks 😉

Damn, I just hit up a few Walgreens and none of them have that spray anymore?!?!?!!? Sadly, I can't give you a price because I bought it ages ago, but if I recall, it was around $10.
If you're desperate, just spray some water or even a little vodka on your shoes and wear them until they stretch out a bit. My boots were pretty pricey, though, so I'm terrified of experimenting with vodka—I don't want to end up crying later🙄 , damn!
Tight-fitting shoes in Fashion ·
I usually just dampen my boots a little, pop them on, and walk around for a few hours... they'll stretch out eventually (it's like an old cowboy trick).
I actually sprayed mine with some stretching spray I picked up at Walgreens, put them on, and they stretched out perfectly.
I honestly have such a soft spot for the whole Cusack family. They’ve all got this charmingly goofy vibe about them, including John, but I think Norton is actually the better actor... even if he comes off as a little greasy and hard to like sometimes.
Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
Personally, I think Dr. Miller over at Mayo Clinic is fantastic. If you're looking for someone else, I'd suggest checking out Dr. Thompson's private practice on Main Street.
How to delay my period with pills? in Women's Health ·
I didn't deal with any nausea, but my cycle was totally thrown off whack. I had been taking birth control pills for an extended period just so I wouldn't have to deal with my period while I was on vacation at the beach. Once I finished one pack, I kept taking pills from a different pack for a few extra days. It honestly took me months to get my cycle back to normal, which was such a nightmare!
Imitation of Life in Movies ·
I’ve always been a huge fan of Sirk. He was incredibly brave for his era, honestly... I just love those kinds of movies—that old-school classic feel. That’s actually why I loved Quote: Far from Heaven with Julianna Moore so much; it feels like such a beautiful homage to Sirk's style.
Best acne treatments? in Health ·
analogfox3 said:Well, obviously it’s named that way because its main ingredient is the antibiotic erythromycin. There’s also a version made with clindamycin. You can actually have a pharmacist whip up a custom mix if you have a prescription from your primary doctor or dermatologist listing all the specific ingredients. There is also a mass-produced clindamycin lotion sold under the brand name Clindamycin, but that one tends to be more expensive...

Personally, I thought Clindamycin worked wonders for me. I used it alongside some Skinoren cream and the results were honestly amazing. BUT, if you're dealing with more serious skin issues, I really recommend sticking to a regular cleansing routine. Once I started consistently cleaning my face properly along with using creams, that's when I saw the real progress! Of course, the best move is always to see a dermatologist instead of just guessing and applying stuff on your own.
I'm 300 lbs and need some advice in Health ·
neonbear4 said:quiethound45, you’ve been such a huge help
but I think I’m still going to stick with the UN diet. It doesn't look too intimidating compared to what I was doing on my last diet.
Basically, I was just eating meat and calling it a day, which meant I had to chug vitamins constantly because I was totally lacking everything else.

I’m not even mad at Edward Green; honestly, she actually said a lot of things that were true.

And one more thing—I really wasn't expecting this kind of support.
To be honest, I’ve felt more supported by you guys than I ever did by any doctor I've seen.
Thank you all so much.
As soon as I start seeing some real results, I’ll post them here.
Right now, I'm heading off to get weighed properly so I have actual numbers instead of just guessing.

I really hope you can pull this off, because at this point, it isn't even about looking good anymore—it's about your health. Carrying extra weight causes so many issues and can seriously cut your life short... we're talking heart attacks, high blood pressure, joint pain, trouble walking, all that stuff. Now is the time to step up, fix your quality of life, and trust me, you won't regret it later. I spent my entire puberty struggling with my weight due to hormones, and it wasn't until I hit a breaking point in college that I finally dropped 15 pounds. I'm not trying to compare our situations because I know your journey might be tougher, but I am so glad I found the courage to do it. My only regret is not getting my act together sooner.
Better late than never, so just go for it... We're all rooting for you! And if you want more info, there's a guide for the UN diet on the Health forum if you want to join in.🙂
