Can't sleep? Any tips for insomnia? in Health ·
Looks like I’ve officially joined the club. 😁
I’ve been stuck in this loop for years now, and honestly, I’ve tried every single thing mentioned here. For me, taking Valerian feels about as effective as sipping a glass of plain water.
I just sit there staring at my computer screen until sleep finally decides to show up—which, naturally, happens around 6 AM. Everything is fine if I don't have to be up early, but otherwise...

Look, I’m not going to recommend a single diet to you—and I can already hear the critics sharpening their knives—but I’ve seen far too many people cycle through these fad programs only to end up right back where they started, weight regained and all. My actual advice? Just stick to working out and try to space your meals out more frequently, maybe five small bites throughout the day instead of a few heavy hits.

As for me, Dramamine doesn't do a damn thing. Some people swear by it for the drowsiness, but I don't feel a thing. And when it comes to food? Honestly, it makes zero difference whether I eat beforehand or not—I've tried every possible way to play it. I just try to avoid the bus whenever I can.

I’ve tried everything—chewing gum, patches, those little wristbands, even earrings... and naturally, the whole damn spectrum of pills.

It’s the same story with my posture, too. I sit perfectly upright, following every rule in the book, but nothing works. I just end up completely wiped out. 😢

I’ve been struggling with this for a while now. Honestly, I’ve tried every single over-the-counter remedy available at CVS and followed just about every piece of advice out there. Nothing seems to touch it. It’s strange, though—the MTA bus is the only way I travel that actually triggers this. Everything else is perfectly fine.
Flu symptoms in Health ·
Maria Gomez6 said:Is everyone back on their feet? Anyone else dealing with a persistent cough? I'm starting to worry it might be pneumonia—God forbid.😕

The cough is still hanging on for me, even though I supposedly "recovered" five or six days ago. It’s frustrating. And now, the person next to me is coughing just as hard after their bout with the flu finally passed. It feels like this stuff just lingers in the air, refusing to quit.

Even they went ahead and got the shot, only to end up catching the flu right before I did.

Does anyone have actual advice on how to handle this? What medications should I pick up to get through this as fast as possible...
Headache, coughing, sore throat, muscle aches, even my ears hurt.👎

It’s day four for me. I’ve got all those symptoms we talked about, plus a runny nose and this nagging ache in my lower back. I actually went to see the doctor because my throat was acting up, so they put me on antibiotics. For three days straight, my fever was hovering somewhere between 38 and 39 degrees. Finally, today, it dipped down to 37.
I’ve got an entire pharmacy sitting here in front of me, and honestly, I have no clue what to pick up anymore.
Tylenol (regular and with Vitamin C)
It’s just one of those things, isn't it? That sudden, annoying congestion that hits you out of nowhere. One minute you're fine, the next you feel like your head is being squeezed by a vice. Just constant, heavy pressure in the nose. It’s exhausting.
Maple syrup for a sore throat. Simple, old-school, and honestly? It works better than most of the overpriced junk you find at the pharmacy. Just a spoonful to coat the irritation. Sometimes the basics are all you need when everything else feels like a gimmick.
Propolki (those little pastilles packed with Vitamin C and propolis). They aren't exactly a miracle, but they do the job when your throat starts feeling like you swallowed a handful of gravel. Just one of those small things you keep in your desk at work for when the seasonal crud starts making the rounds in the office.
- Amoxicillin.
Lawrence Robinson11 said:And yeah, finishing med school is way harder than architecture or engineering, simply because the program is longer. That's not even mentioning anything else.

Arrogant, rude, and plain wrong. I know people who have graduated from—or are still grinding through—those two majors, and I know plenty of medical students and doctors too. I have a real sample size for comparison. You didn't even bother to mention Computer Science at MIT, which is what I studied, and let me tell you, it was incredibly straightforward for us.
You certainly aren't lacking in arrogance or pretension, nor in your tendency to belittle others. Honestly, those traits alone answer all your questions. Consider this my final word on the matter; I’m done talking to you. You possess far too many of the qualities I despise. 🙂
Firewall settings? in Software ·
swiftscout8, I don't think you quite grasped the core point of what I was getting at. 😉

As for Zscaler, look—I’ve spent enough time in the trenches with them to know what I'm talking about. That's exactly why I said the only way I'd ever touch them again is if someone performed a lobotomy on me first.

slycrane94 said:A hardware firewall and an application firewall aren't the same thing, and they certainly don't protect you in the same way. Anyone claiming hardware is the ultimate solution clearly hasn't a clue what they're talking about.

slycrane94, you haven't got a clue. That’s not how the pros talk—just take a page out of mark45's book. You've got a long way to go before you catch up. Realistically? You're miles off. 😬

By the way, there is absolutely no way in hell I'd recommend ZA, unless someone actually performed a lobotomy on me. Sygate is my pick, though I'm hardly an expert here. In fact, I'm not even a real man. 🤣
Chrome vs Safari in Software ·
Karen Sanchez19 said:LOL... Chrome hasn't even existed for three years:

Did Mozilla switch over to Chrome recently?

What do you mean, "Mozilla switched to Chrome"? Mozilla is still its own entity, developing independently. It's just that now they have Chrome alongside it. Personally, I still prefer the former.
Chrome vs Safari in Software ·
fadedtrucker19 said:Exactly.

I’ll give Safari some credit, but I just find Chrome much more comfortable to use.

That's what I'm saying. Honestly, I even prefer Mozilla over Chrome, and in all these years of using it, I can't recall a single time the thing actually crashed on me.
Post-op recovery: How is everyone doing? in Health ·
I had surgery on a completely different part of my body—shoulder surgery, actually—but even then, it took a full week just for my metabolism to stop acting wonky. I tried my best not to spend the whole day in bed; I was back at my computer the very next day, though I could barely manage to click a mouse. It took two months before I felt even remotely functional, and it wasn't until six months later that my nerve sensitivity finally returned to normal. Up until recently, the area around the incision stayed numb. The doctors always give you that standard line about needing patience, but my surgeon told me to keep moving. He said not to overdo it, obviously, but warned me not to "play the patient" too much. There’s a fine line there, of course; you don't want to push it too far, but if you're unsure, you should probably just check with your doctor first.
As for hygiene, I couldn't even wash my hair for two months because I was terrified of getting dirty water near the incisions. Same goes for showering; I stuck to sponge baths from the waist down, but hey, I survived. My stitches were dissolvable (correct me if I'm using the wrong terminology—I'll leave that to the experts), so they didn't need to be removed, which was a huge relief. They just absorbed on their own, and honestly, the scars are remarkably minimal considering how large the cuts had to be.

If you haven't met one, that's on you. That's your business. But the one talking nonsense here? That's you. And frankly, your brand of stupidity is dangerous for anyone naive enough to listen.

So, you're seventeen years old and you’re actually listening to some forum troll and a parent whose only priority is their bank account? Honestly, people like that—who brainwash kids just to line their own pockets—are the absolute worst. I truly hope whatever money you make from this leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. :2up:
If you actually care about getting leaner while staying physically healthy—and, more importantly, not wrecking your mental state in the process—do yourself a favor and talk to a doctor. Ask them for a nutritional plan that actually works for your body.

Gregory Turner71 said:Not quite... that dead layer of skin exists to protect the living tissue underneath. You shouldn't be stripping it away too often.

Oh, absolutely... if you really need to look at it that way, go right ahead. 😁

Besides, my dentist backed me up on it too.
Cut the sugar, cut the cavities.

At the end of the day, what’s there to lose? It can only be an improvement if you drop the sugar intake.
It’s not like sugar is some kind of superfood packed with vitamins...😁

.

My boyfriend is actually a dentist. Unfortunately, he isn't practicing in New York City, so I can't exactly send you his way—plus, he’s private practice, so he’s pricey.

Now, why am I even quoting this? Because his take on the whole situation was: "If that were actually true, I wouldn't have even a quarter of the patient load I have now."
So, hey, if it helped you, great. But claiming that avoiding sugar is a magic bullet to prevent tooth decay? That just isn't accurate.
