That sounds interesting. I wonder if there's any video footage available?
Shingles (Southern United States) in Music ·
I have some CDs. They're actually quite good, and not just because they come from the Southdiv>
Concert" @ Film Society, 6/1/2006 in Music ·
Maybe grab some Tonka, I heard there were some issues earlier
Scary Movie 4 in Movies ·
I suppose those Scary Movies can be entertaining depending on your mood, almost in an Elizabeth Garcia2 kind of way. Though, I wonder, would it be too much to ask if I were actually brilliant one hundred percent of the time?

I suppose a person really ought to cling to something both solid and soft in this life

So, what they said really hits home—when you're talking about chaos, you probably ought to speak in a rather chaotic fashion myself.
Late night at Studio 54! in Music ·
I have a certain fondness for Papillon. And who knows, perhaps we might see the return of the legendary Tobić Tobić in its pages quite soon.

I felt compelled to add this extra post because my previous one ended up being an unfortunate sequential number, and I’ll pass on writing that out—it just seems like bad luck for those of us who aren't particularly superstitious about these things.

Just let them be, ladies.
I suppose I might have thought the same thing if I hadn't spent my life earning two degrees and devouring the collected works of Witold Gombrowicz.
R.I.P. Chris Penn in Movies ·

Chris had this aura of a calm psychopath. It almost felt like he was just living the part. I suppose 🙏

the best description.
I would say he was on par with his brother—don't touch Sean—but he wasn't quite on Madonna's level...

R. I. P.!

The film was wonderful, though I must admit I didn't quite grasp it
Django is the man, without a doubt.
Wes and Pass are also solid. Scofield knows his stuff, though he isn't quite my style.
And Slayer rules, obviously; I suppose nobody learned how to make noise quite like they did from Jimi.
I remember watching MTV Unplugged back when the network actually had some soul left in it. I saw an episode featuring Satriani and Stevie Ray Vaughan. I honestly suspect that right after that specific session, Stevie passed away. He basically got swallowed up by Satriani. Look, Satriani is talented—he pushes technical boundaries, he’s come up with plenty of clever tricks, and he's musical—but he just doesn't know how to craft a masterpiece. During that set, he played "May This Be Love," and it wasn't even close to Hendrix, especially since he messed up while trying to sing. You really feel the difference in the raw pressure of the performance on an acoustic set, and in that moment, Vaughan came closer to Hendrix than anyone else.
Man, Satriani once mentioned that his primary cultural activity was just watching cartoons. Jimi, on the other hand, was out there jumping out of planes and possessed a massive endowment that's practically immortalized in plaster.
Do you think there's no connection there? Oh, there's definitely a connection...
People used to hype up Hendrix quite a bit. Word was he had a massive ego, I guess.
Baba Yaga said:If you look at it through an inverted lens, just compare today's premier jazz fusion players against any punk, pop-rocker, or goth musician. By what standard is Kurt Cobain consistently ranked in the top 10 or 15 guitarists on professional lists, while Jimi Hendrix regularly takes the number one spot—even though anyone playing for five years straight probably plays twice as well as him? It seems to me everything boils down to how we recognize true talent versus technical masters who get overlooked.

It appears you haven't studied Hegel or his dialectics.
The Life and Death of Peter Sellers in Movies ·
Sellers is a legend, Shakira is a goddess, and I suppose we'll have to give Rush a listen eventually.
Luis Buñuel's Obscure Object of Desire in Movies ·
Luis Buñuel isn't quite about Freudianism; it's more on the Lacanian side. I suppose Lacan does build upon Freud, but that wasn't really my point. What I meant was that I simply love the film, and the subject matter made me realize it should probably be tucked away somewhere in my VHS collection
USA-Mexico and Mexico in Other Sports ·
All this drama was really just the result of users failing to step up and ignoring the core "Pessimistic topic" thread.
I suppose if people put in more effort moving forward, we might be able to avoid these kinds of situations.

And yes, Vanya and I owe everyone a round of drinks.

As for the game: beyond the win—which, granted, came at the cost of an experience that highlighted the massive gap in physical conditioning (just look at how Balicev was gasping for air)—I’m actually pleased about the post-game gathering on the field. Sportsmanship won out. I truly believe our guys would have shaken hands and congratulated the opponents had the roles been reversed.

It was probably for the best that the refs shut down those kickboxing experts from America right at the start. Aside from the DJ & DJ duo, their other players were decent enough, much like our own squad.
It’s good that we showed the world we aren't total amateurs.

I hope future matchups between these national teams turn into regular games, perhaps just with a bit more of that classic regional rivalry.

Compliments to the opposition on their play and their conduct, with the exception of DJ & DJ. Honestly, they're making progress, and it's hard not to when you have examples like ours to learn from.

As for our guys, I'm holding off on any praise until Sunday night. Expect a fresh batch of exhausting analyses hitting the pessimistic topic tomorrow.
Every single LGBTQ+ organization in the country is probably going to sue this gay man just because he’s dragging their reputation through the mud.

Or maybe you've just been trolling the entire civilized world this whole time, since the sheer volume of nonsense you've managed to sprinkle over film and literature is honestly beyond what any known scientific method could ever explain.
Captain Beefheart in Music ·
One could argue that Beefhearta might lead into an early Zappa phase. There’s also the possibility of moving toward Waits with something like Rain Dogs or similar records. Perhaps even the Residents. And maybe a track from Mance.
There is also that one piece by Elvis J. Kurtovica where he mentions the captain.
