Who are the best clubs in the world? in Soccer ·
How The Club World ranking is made
nimblemarlin17 said:Finally, the verdict is in—it wasn't a goal. We've got ourselves a finalist who hasn't found the back of the net in three straight games. Cheers to that! 🙄

Look, it’s obvious you have a massive grudge against English football and English players, but you're really grasping at straws with that one goal.
The goal stands, and honestly, I don't give a damn whether it was legitimate or not.
Since switching to this knockout format, Liverpool FC has put up 9 goals and conceded only 3 in their last six matches.
That was more than enough to punch their ticket to the final.
Ronaldo is basically a total jerk. I liked him personally, but after the way he bailed on Inter Milan—especially after they spent two years coddling him while he was injured, only for him to act like a selfish prick once he recovered—it’s hard to respect.
He could have at least given them one full season before walking out on them.
I’d love to see Real Madrid play Inter Milan just to see what kind of reception those fans would give him at Giants Stadium.
Under Robson, FC Barcelona played the most beautiful football I’ve ever seen, at least in my opinion.
I usually can't stand Real Madrid, but that squad when Vicente del Bosque took over from Toschak was absolutely elite.
Iker Casillas,
Salgado, Fernando Hierro, José Karanka, Roberto Carlos
Makelele, Fernando Helguera,
Steve McManaman, Raúl, Solar, Guti
Fernando Morientes.

We were listening to CNN at work today when the news hit us, and honestly, we were just stunned. One of my coworkers blurted out, "Superman is dead."
Even the attacks on the World Trade Center or those senseless suicide bombings in Baghdad didn't shake us this much.

R.I.P.
You finally made it back home to Krypton.

nimblemarlin17 said:They’ve got a massive surplus of talent that actually belongs on the national team. The manager is basically forced to pick between five or six guys who are all equally elite. Back at the last World Cup, he had to choose between Batistuta, Cresp, Lopez, Saviola... not to mention Palermo, Cruz, and Riquelme.

When you look at the Americans, they have perhaps the deepest roster of high-end talent out there. But their coach always seems to pick the wrong lineup.
Maybe they should just hire a European to run the show?

I have to agree with nimblemarlin17. These people are mentally unstable, and their voters cave too easily to public pressure from the media, which forces them to rely on various agitators who eventually ruin everything (like what Ortega did in France back in '98).
They're just as bad as their biggest rivals, the Americans.

But honestly, I have a feeling we’re going to get some serious payback against the Bulgarians in Sofia. Just you wait. 🙂

What kind of payback?
The Bulgarians played us fair and square. Using the word "revenge" in sports makes me absolutely sick.

Results are what actually matter.

We shouldn't be picking the player with the most trophies; we should be picking the "best player." It might be better to use the term "most impactful," but soccer isn't basketball—you can't just crunch numbers to quantify a player's actual value.

nimblemarlin17 said:But then again, Brazil just absolutely crushed it. They went into Venezuela and dropped 5 goals on them, winning 5:2. Ronaldo scored twice, Kaká had two, and Adriano added one. Does anyone actually pose a threat to them in 2006?

They sure do!

Roger Allen3 said:Zagor is a legend, but he’s way too bogged down by moral dilemmas—kind of like Jean-Luc Picard. That’s why Tex Riley and Benjamin Sisko get the job done much more efficiently.

😁
I really need to keep this comparison between Zagor/Picard and Tex Riley/Sisko in mind. 🙏
Roger Allen3, you're a god. 🙏 🙏

Nancy Ruiz85 said:I don't think any single player has ever reached Maradona's level. Nobody else has been able to carry a team like that. Winning basically a whole Serie A title by himself...

Nobody wins a championship alone. For every superstar, there are ten blue-collar workers holding things together. Soccer is the ultimate team sport. If it weren't, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, and Chelsea would win every single year.
The question itself is silly. I never watched Pele, and while I did watch Maradona, I hated him from the bottom of my soul because he was a total piece of work.
But man, could he play. 🙏 .
P.S. Superman is stronger than Batman, but there's only one Zagor. He'll dive through five pages of action and kill two crocodiles before breakfast.

Roger Allen3, congrats.
It’s going to be an uphill battle for you.
Good luck. 👍
