Oh, great. Couldn't find a slot in December, could they? Bunch of bastards.

When is Sky Captain coming out? If it even is.
Ladyhawke in Movies ·
Emily Torres2 said:(Lady? Is this some bad translation? "Lady" doesn't mean "dame" here; it's just a feminine marker. So she isn't some Lady Hawk, she's just a hawk—or maybe a Lady Wolf (if you're feeling poetic).)

Exactly. It should have been Lady Sokoklić.

Richard Hernandez13 said:This was easily one of the worst films released last year. 👎

An intelligent, imaginative premise completely gutted by a disastrous script—if you can even call it a script—and amateurish direction.

It seems movies based on Moore's comics are just destined for a Hollywood butchering.
They’ve got Keanu Reeves playing Constantine in "Constantine" (I guess Hellblazer wasn't Exactly for Hollywood enough).
And don't even get me started on Watchmen.

You mean that one with Sifler, where Chow kicks magazines at people and takes out guys in black suits along with a woman and her kid?

How have I not seen that yet?
Once Upon a Time in America (Sergio Leone) in Movies ·
glupinickname said:Since I’ve never seen them before, this is my one shot at catching them up. 😁

As if you haven't been alive.

I watch Leone films at least once a year. Usually around Christmas. Some people sit through "It's a Wonderful Life," but I’d rather have "For a Few Dollars More."

The only one I missed was "A Fistful of Dollars" because CNN (in all its infinite wisdom) never aired it when they were running his other film cycles.

Regarding "Once Upon a Time in America," if it's in my video collection, I’ll have to pull it off the shelf—I need to see it in widescreen. If any movies lose their soul when cropped for a TV screen, it's these ones.

And yeah. Frank is the most formidable villain in the Western genre, period. Maybe even among the greatest ever. That opening scene where he kills that kid just for hearing his name... that is pure EVIL. Not like those "BWAHAHAHA" caricatures you see in Bond.

Dantooine—the planet Princess Leia claims is a Rebel stronghold.
Ord Mantell—where Han Solo had that... unpleasant run-in with a certain bounty hunter.

You're lying. In 1981, you were watching Indiana Jones, not Star Wars. Your mask is off. It's bin LADEN!!!111
You're just hiding on these forums pretending to be some female Star Wars fan!!!111

But nobody—and I mean nobody—can escape my all-seeing eye!!!*

And I ain't talking about my *BEEEEEP*

Eric Jackson43 said:So then Lucas makes Episode 2 and completely rewrites or tosses out everything established in the books beforehand (like Bob Fett's backstory, for instance).

Most of the Bob Fett books are garbage anyway.
Star Wars was created by Lucas, not K. W. Jetter (the author of "Blade Runner 2: No, I definitely can't make any money" and "Blade Runner 3: I really have zero creative drive left in my sellout soul").

Ugh, and here I was thinking it was actually a sequel to 2 Leaving 2 Las 2 Vegas.

casualotter21 said:I mindlessly flipped on NBC during dinner tonight. As I'm sitting there watching these mindless American music videos, some clip starts playing that uses scenes straight out of Underworld. "Coincidence?" I thought. It's common practice... well, it USED to be common practice, that when movie clips are used in a video, the song actually has SOME connection to the plot. But now I'm listening to this track featuring Underworld footage, and the lyrics are completely soulless—just stuff like "working nine to five, what a way to make a living" or something equally vapid. BUT! The connection becomes obvious pretty fast because this is a song by Bart! HA! There you have it, folks! It's obvious! Bart is actually the main werewolf from Underworld, and he's just hiding out in rural Montana where nobody will look for him! No wonder he wanted movie scenes in his video! QED! Q.! E.! D.!

<nod>

I also caught a glimpse of Bart doing some kind of stunt jumping over a car in the trailer.

When on earth is that movie actually hitting theaters here? The rest of the world has had the DVD on sale since January 6th. I feel like we've been sent back to the stone age—like it's 2000 all over again, everyone else has seen the film and we're still stuck waiting.

Man, you're throwing out pop culture references that just aren't hitting with today's urban hip culture.

Twiggy? How old are you? Like 170?

casualotter21 said:Rhona Mitra is actually great. Plus she was a Playmate once, playing Beowulf's old lady... HOLY COW! There, I just spoiled the whole plot for you. How are you even going to enjoy the movie now?!!! God, I'd kiss her anytime!

I sat down yesterday and finally watched the film properly (naked, beer in one hand, remote in the other).
All I can say is that when I grow up, I want to be just like Roland.
Roland is the LAW. Any guy who can sneak up on the White Wolf while wearing nothing but a furnace and a cloak made of chainmail—all while dragging a seven-foot two-handed longsword behind him—deserves an Academy Award for Stealth performance. I'm awarding it to him on behalf of the Academy right now.

And yeah, Second rule of Fantasy: It's never too cold for Cleavage.

It's a joke, man. Playing with clichés just to make something entertaining. A tribute to Hong Kong cinema.
