Kill Bill Vol. 1 in Movies ·
casualotter21 said:HELLO?! I’m the one who recommended "dawn bite" to you? The guy who was right there with you writing those stupid ninja novel parodies over at Literature?! Dude, *of course* the movie is good! It's great! And it's great specifically because it's intentional TRASH and full of clichés. I'm telling you: if someone told us, "adapt a ninja novel for me," our version would look exactly like that movie. Trust me on this!

I was just messing with you about whether it's actually "good."

I'll probably head out on Thursday.
The only thing that bugs me is that the shows are only at 8 PM and 10 PM (before that, they're playing Finding Nemo in English), so I'll end up getting home by 11 PM, missing the cartoon, and sitting here moping and crying about it.

casualotter21 said:As far as I'm concerned—I agree with you. If it were up to me, I'd be the first one scrubbing those posts. It’s wrong to wander into off-topic territory here, just like on TV, and I spend way more time there than I do on this site...

Suckupaaaaaa!!!

STAY ON TOPIC, D'OH...

I'm heading to the theater this week. No matter what.
Is it any good?

Richard Hernandez13, regarding the off-topic stuff... just move those posts over to Oasis.
I voted for John Williams. After all, he’s the one behind the scores for Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Superman, the Goonies, and more.

On the other hand, I would have picked Morricone (those Leone westerns), but he isn't even on this list.

Justin Patel said:Look, that kid is pure Hollywood. Being a hillbilly isn't the same thing as being a redneck.
When I was traveling through the States, I actually met those hillbillies. They were something else.
There was this guy, Kenny. He lived out in some rural shack near my grandfather’s place—not that I know exactly where, since that neighborhood is pretty upscale. The guy had a beer belly spilling out of a "I Love America" shirt, spent his days drinking cheap beer, borrowed twenty bucks from my grandad every other week, and his wife used to beat him. Just total lunatics. That's the real America right there.
Meanwhile, those Hollywood parrots just keep repeating the same tired script.

So what's left then? The ones wearing baseball caps, breeding livestock for fun, driving pickup trucks, and convinced aliens snatched Elvis?

Justin Patel said:Screw that channel in Rhode Island... why am I filled with such useless hate... I'm rooting for the hillbillys... what happened to the parrot?

Some kid showed up with a gun and killed the hillbillys.

Pfft, even the rednecks aren't what they used to be.

The parrot decided to pursue a career in Hollywood. It didn't survive the trek across the Rocky Mountains.

Last words: "Polly hates crackers."

casualotter21 said:Well, I’m sitting here downloading photos of Chiaki, likely taken back when girls her age in the States would have been legally prohibited from posing like that. In the background, some local folk singer and a nursery rhyme are playing on my TV. East Meets West. Talk about symbolism.

Exactly.

Just clarify for me who exactly represents the "East" and who represents the "West" in that little analogy of yours.

casualotter21 said:And the women just ignore them and run from the camera.

Probably because most of them have teeth that are... asymmetrical.
I don't see Chiaka having that issue.

P.S.
I'm watching a movie on KanalRI where some hillbillies are shooting at a parrot with AK-47s.

What an obvious rip-off of Harry Potter.

Justin Patel said:No, look at his last post on this thread first. I was just adding my two cents after that. And for the record, I'm no alcoholic—just a social drinker from time to time. 🙂

I know what you meant. I was just messing with you.🙂

Fine. Let's assume GNN drives people to alcoholism.

Quentin Tarantino drives people straight to the bottle!!!

He’s definitely one of those Ballantine financiers.

rustybison12 said:uh, yeah, that trailer for Scary Movie 3... one scene looks like it's from the movie The Others... a woman is looking for her daughter, and someone is covered by a sheet in a room; she pulls back the sheet and underneath it is Michael Jackson... this feels more like pedophilia or something, and he's like... I didn't do anything... but she's just a little girl!!!

Reading that actually made me reflect on how incredibly relevant the films in the "Scary Movie" franchise truly are.

Remember in "Scary Movie 2" when James Woods goes to the bathroom and takes a dump? Well, we all take dumps! If that isn't relevant, nothing is.

Or when in the first installment, the killer stabs Carmen Electre's silicone breast? That is, as the smarter ones among you have noted, a social commentary on the famous "silicone fever" of the early 2000s, when everyone was rushing to plastic surgeons to get implants that would supposedly protect them from masked serial killers.

To this day, I still keep my breasts on the shelf in my living room.

P. P. S.
Yeah, I still haven't seen "Kill Bill Vol."

P. P. S.
For a more detailed philosophical breakdown of the "Scary Movie" films, look for my book "Welcome to The desert of The real : Cheap Fart Jokes make Quadrizillions ... of Dollars" published by a major US textbook publisher in 2002.

P. P. P. S.
Yes, I am very bored.

Justin Patel said:I’m not sane, but I go to the movies at midnight because there aren't any obnoxious kids laughing like idiots or scrolling through their phones in the middle of a scene.

I know exactly what you mean.
Take *The Lord of the Rings*, for example. After about ninety minutes, their kicks in, and they start screaming for their moms or asking mindless questions like, "Mommy, why isn't Harry wearing glasses?"

Or when those same moms start reading the damn subtitles out loud:
"The last alliance of elves and men--"

"Elves? Like... magic people?"

"Elves, honey."

Khmm ... I said the Englishmen are the ones driving the Americans. In the movie, the Englishmen are driving the Frenchmen. That makes the main characters... the Englishmen. Amer doesn't have any skin in the game.

What kind of crappy movie is it if there aren't even any Americans in it?!?

Don't tell me there aren't any UFOs or ninjas in this thing, or you'll convince me to skip this obvious garbage.
Richard Hernandez13 said:In the novel, the Englishmen were constantly pushing the Americans around. 😁

I honestly love it when they make Americans the central figures in movies. Take *U-571* or *Apollo 13*, for example.

Who are they even talking about?Proud Americans. So, they're forcing it in the movie now?

Khmm. Given the current political climate, it would be much more fitting if Russell were hunting down a ship loaded with an extremist pirate !!!!! gang on a kamikaze mission toward the newly built commercial port in New York City.

Sure, the writers should have put in some actual effort to explain why they’re heading around Cape Horn, but let's face it—Akiva Goldsman isn't exactly known for his depth.

That would be a hell of a movie. I’ve already got the synopsis mapped out. It could be titled "THE LORD AND THE WARRIOR: AN UNNECESSARILY LONG TITLE THAT SAYS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT THE PLOT."

I've corrected people before...

I pronounce you the winner of this forum game!

fadedsailor932 said:...exactly that one, though I haven't figured out the title yet...👍

Is Spencer Tracy in it?
Melissa Moore32 said:By the way, did you get this on tape or DVD? I heard there's a trailer for "Cowboy Bebop - Movie" on the DVD.😳

The "4 Warriors" release by Tsui Hark includes the CB trailer. The cover claims there are two trailers, but it's just one.
