I’m going to end it all because I just can't deal with this pain anymore.

So, after over a year of relentless pain—starting mostly under my right ribcage and eventually spreading to the right side of my upper back—the medical community still hasn't given me a single clue as to what's actually going on. I’ve been through the ringer: nephrologists, cardiologists, four different gastroenterologists, two neurologists, two neurosurgeons, a chiropractor, spine surgeons, a handful of physiatrists, and rheumatologists. Even a psychiatrist. We’ve run every blood test imaginable, abdominal MRIs, four ultrasounds, spinal MRIs, gastroscopies, colonoscopies... honestly, I’ve lost track of how many tests there have been. The only thing keeping me upright is opioid painkillers; without them, the intensity would literally kill me. What really hits home, though, isn't just the physical agony, but the staggering indifference from the doctors. There is zero interest in actually solving the puzzle, and absolutely no interdisciplinary teamwork. It's like every specialist is working in their own little vacuum. Look, if you're dealing with some kind of discomfort but aren't actively dying on the floor, I wouldn't recommend embarking on this kind of Odysseus through the medical system. The odds of anyone actually finding an answer are slim to none.

Does anyone know if there are any pills out there specifically for muscle relaxation? I used to rely on Muscle Feeder back in the day, but they don't make it anymore.

After months of playing detective trying to figure out why my ribs and right side of my back were killing me, I finally got an answer: intercostal neuralgia. It’s been a frustrating road because a full workup by my primary care doctor turned up absolutely nothing—not even an MRI of my spine showed anything worth worrying about. It wasn't until they performed a diagnostic block with lidocaine that we actually pinpointed the culprits: the Th9, Th10, and Th11 nerves.
The pain shifted from the front to my back, settling right where those specific nerve roots are located. Honestly, I think we need a dedicated thread here for intercostal neuralgia and peripheral neuropathies. It feels like a rare condition, but I suspect there are others out there dealing with this exact same nightmare. Right now, I'm just white-knuckling it through a cocktail of painkillers, lidocaine patches, and a TENS unit. I even bit the bullet and bought a magnet therapy device to see if it helps, and I'm looking into acupuncture next.

There is a more invasive option involving phenol blocks, but my doctors shot that down immediately because of the risk of the solution migrating toward the spinal cord. There might be other aggressive routes, like a neurotomy, but I don't know enough about those procedures to say.

This whole situation has been a massive drain on my quality of life. For me, it seems to flare up whenever the weather changes. Physical activity is basically off the table; even riding my stationary bike makes things feel worse.

Is anyone else here going through this, and how are you managing? Beyond Dr. Kvesić, is there anyone in the US who specializes specifically in treating this stuff?

Look, this isn't about neuralgia. Last night I was greedily inhaling some burger and a piece of meat got stuck somewhere in my throat. I can still feel it there. I’ve tried coughing it up, gargling, all that nonsense, but nothing has worked. It’s starting to drive me a little crazy. I need some actual medical advice on how to deal with this.

I’m looking into an intercostal nerve block and I need a 6% phenol oil solution. Does anyone know where I can track that down? It has to be the oil-based version, not a water-based solution.

I’m on the hunt for a primary care physician who actually gives a damn about their patients—someone willing to listen, approachable, and actually competent in medicine. Honestly, I am beyond frustrated with my current doctor; she doesn't even bother looking up from her desk, let alone asking how I'm doing. In the last four months, she hasn't issued me a single referral. I ended up having to navigate everything through private specialists on my own, and if I hadn't, I wouldn't even know I had elevated blood sugar, gallbladder polyps that need periodic ultrasound monitoring, or post-herpetic neuralgia.

It’s honestly pathetic what they’ve done with it lately; there used to be an art to a good, playful tease, but now they’ve turned sex into this rigid science and a total dogma.

How can I get my hands on that Herbalife tea without getting sucked into some weird pyramid scheme or signing up for a whole membership? All I want is the tea—none of those other products, seminars, or any of that nonsense.

Super original stuff here, and honestly, it doesn't sound anything like AC/DC to me.

I realize this might trigger the feminists who insist aggression is exclusively a male trait, just as much as it’ll sting the chauvinists who hate admitting they ever lost a fight to a woman. On the flip side, you've got the aggressive activists who'll probably cheer because they think those guys got exactly what was coming to them, while the weak-willed men will just sit there worrying about how "male safety" is being threatened by women.

People love to push this narrative that violence is strictly a male issue—that men are the only ones out there looking to lash out or get physical with women. But if you actually look at the facts, you'll see that women are just as capable of turning violent against their husbands or other men.
