I’ve got no clue what percentage of these subforums actually have active chats going on, but I do know for a fact that half of them get shut down the second things start getting messy or people start acting out Beyond that, there’s just no way this forum can thrive if it keeps being shaped by that same small circle of five or six—maybe nineteen, if you’re counting the regulars—who spend every single day just greeting each other, saying hi, and basically throwing virtual toasts back and forth
Anthony Barrett37, the Chat isn't really a format that fits the vibe of this Reddit I mean, there are plenty of dedicated chat services out there, and even here we have specific sub-forums designed specifically for more relaxed moderation where people can actually hang out and talk Ultimately, the moderators decide where chat threads are allowed, and if people start using them in a malicious way, it’s pretty obvious that they'll just shut the whole thing down
Rachel Foster44 said:I'm still waiting on someone to give me a straight answer here, because I really don't get it—does a moderator actually have the authority to slap points on your account just because you sent them a DM? I'm talking about a simple inquiry, mind you, nothing remotely aggressive or offensive, just a question, yet somehow I end up getting hit with a warning instead of an answer... anyone know what's up? thanks
Look, you don't even have any points to lose, so I honestly have no idea what you're even talking about
emilia, I’m hoping it finally clicked for you—just once and for all—what actually qualifies as spamming on this board.
shtefitza, look, save the passive-aggressive attitude for your real life; over here, I’m asking you to try writing in a way where the rest of us don't have to play detective just to figure out which side of your mouth you're smirking on (assuming anyone actually cares).
You already filed the report, and the mods have looked at it—they didn't flag the topic as inappropriate. The only thing actually inappropriate here is how much you're hysterical about this whole thing.
If you actually want to stay in the loop regarding the reconstruction and construction updates, you can just track everything through this PDF right here
I'm just sitting here wondering if the Moderators are planning on keeping this thread locked indefinitely—just as some sort of permanent archive for us to scroll through and reminisce—or if they’re actually going to crack it open and let us all get back to the chaos of posting again.
Can we all just take a collective breath and dial it back a notch, people? The thread has been restored, and once we’ve finished scrubbing out the mess, it’ll be reopened for business as usual. Moving forward, the moderators are going to be keeping a much closer eye on what actually gets posted here, so I’m asking everyone to please use the report button or just shoot a moderator a DM if something looks off—or, if things get really sideways, you can always start a thread over at the CIA. If it turns out we need more hands on deck, we’ll look into bringing on some additional moderators.
Across five pages of posts, velvettrucker52 went ahead and wiped out three of them One was just pure nonsense, and the other two were "top tier" contributions, if you believe in sarcasm And those were all incredibly constructive pieces that really elevated the quality of this entire forum 🙂 Now, I’m sitting here trying to wrap my head around what exactly was so controversial about them?
Nobody is actually ignoring you just because you didn't get an immediate reply and please, let's keep the sarcasm to a minimum, because it really doesn't fly in this space
yeah back in the day on Reddit, there was this whole trend where people would get really "clever" by baiting someone into an argument just so they could delete their own post immediately after—it was all just these little manipulative games
Maybe you all should take a quick second to actually look up the definition of the word "concrete" in a dictionary, just as a suggestion. The whole thing is moot because whether someone chooses to believe something or not isn't exactly a solid foundation upon which you can build an actual argument.
that’s exactly what people try to stomach but honestly, sometimes a single snowball just turns into an absolute avalanche it all boils down to context, really, which is why working with people is always such a wild ride
hiddenotter98, look, I think the real move here would be to actually kick off a fresh topic or maybe dive into something we haven't even touched yet, rather than just sitting here endlessly rehashing the exact same old tired arguments over and over again. I mean, is it actually legal to walk into a store and buy a kitchen knife? And if you do, does having that knife give you some kind of green light to go around stabbing people with it? Does the fact that you can legally purchase a chef's knife somehow imply that using it to puncture someone is perfectly fine? ...
