DVD writer issues in Desktops ·
Man, I haven't messed around with an optical drive in years... honestly, just ditch Nero and grab this little utility instead

Give it a shot and see if you can burn something with it. If you still run into the same headache, try Googling your Dell DVD writer model followed by the word "firmware"—you might just need to download and install a quick firmware update for the drive itself.

You can find them right there under the files section—usually, every Android version and manufacturer uses their own specific name for it. On my Samsung, it’s listed under My Files... you should see it right there.

So, does anyone know if there's an update or a new version of the software out yet?

Maybe just say a prayer... but seriously, you should probably reach out to Google support using a different email account—the one that actually works—and make sure to clearly specify which address is being blocked for no reason at all.

Do some searching—not everyone is lucky enough to own a rig like yours 🙄

Wait, which version of Windows are we talking about? I seem to recall being able to do this back on the old XP days... 😁 Honestly, if you just swap out the background for a different image, the whole thing should be sorted out.

You could actually mount an SSD inside your case using some insulation if you really wanted to—since there aren't any moving parts, there’s nothing to vibrate like > was suggesting. I actually treated myself to this drive at the start of the year because the price-to-capacity ratio was just unbeatable... I picked up a 2TB 😲 https://www.amazon.com/product/example...98%2E600%2E150 for only $600. It’s looking a little pricier now, though...
Virus or something else? :) in IT Support ·
Honestly, my best advice would be to just uninstall Mozilla along with any other browsers you're currently using... then, try running AdwCleaner again. You should also definitely grab Malwarebytes—just download it, get it installed, and run a full scan. Once that's all finished up, reinstall Mozilla and things should hopefully be back to normal. https://www.malwarebytes.com/

Looks like the apocalypse is finally coming, but this time it might actually 🙂 😁

Just grab ADWCleaner from the link I sent over... run it and hit scan. Once it finds everything, just wipe it all out and restart your computer—that should do the trick. Then, just grab the uBlock Origin extension for your browser and you'll be good to go.

+1 you really went and opened it...
My PC is making a buzzing noise in IT Support ·
I can't tell if you're joking or what... you basically answered your own question there. If you haven't cleaned it in six months, just pop the case open and hit it with some compressed air—and honestly, if it’s still running hot, you might want to just swap out the thermal paste on the CPU while you're at it.

It looks like you just haven't enabled video thumbnails in your Microsoft settings yet—this video shows you exactly how to toggle that on. It’s a quick fix, honestly... should only take about 10 seconds.
How do I make a bootable USB? in IT Support ·
It doesn't quite work like that... you actually have to integrate those changes directly into the Ubuntu ISO file itself. You'll probably need to do a bit of Googling since I can't explain the technical specifics perfectly—I haven't done this exact process in a few years. The last time I tackled something similar was back when I had to slip specific chipset drivers into a Windows XP installation image just to get it running on a Lenovo laptop.
How do you clean a laptop keyboard? in IT Support ·
Good God, why are people making such a huge deal out of this? It’s just a laptop keyboard... you aren't rebuilding a Ferrari engine here. If you really want to get that granular, a little bit of compressed air does the trick—especially if you're eating over your desk and crumbs are constantly falling into the keys.

Or you could just grab some canned air from a place like Best Buy $8.75.

I’ve been using these for years to clean out my PC tower—it works pretty well since the pressure is solid. You can even use it to blow the dust out of your desktop keyboard or a laptop if you need to..
Windows 10 activation issues in IT Support ·
It looks like the program's set up to reactivate every six months... which means you'll probably get another notification popping up in about half a year asking you to do it all over again 🙂 but honestly, having to deal with that once every six months isn't really a huge deal, right? 😁

I know we aren't supposed to talk about piracy on this forum, but you can actually find legitimate keys on eBay for as low as 20-$$8.25. I’ve picked up a few myself—for me, some neighbors, and a couple of friends—and they work perfectly fine. You just pay via credit card, and the seller sends the key directly to your eBay inbox, and that's really it. Just make sure you check the seller's profile first; you definitely want someone with a high positive feedback rating to be safe.
Data Recovery from an IBM Drive in IT Support ·
All I know for sure is that the price tag isn't small—they charge a pretty penny for data recovery from an IBM... But tell me, can you really not pull the files yourself? Are you absolutely certain we're looking at a physical failure on the drive?

And if it isn't an issue with the USB reader itself, have you considered that the problem might actually be the flash drive? 😁 It’s worth giving it a shot—maybe try testing it with a different stick and see if that fixes things.
