Printer issues in Desktops ·
Well, if you look at your settings in Word—or honestly, just in whatever program you’re using to print—you should definitely see an option to select just a single page... or maybe check the printer properties within the app itself.
SSD issues in IT Support ·
Maybe try running some manufacturer software to check the drive's health... who knows, it might just be a dead unit.
Constant stuttering, driving me insane in IT Support ·
It could definitely be a RAM issue... maybe try running a memtest? Just let it run for a good 2-3 hours to see if it catches anything
Webcam and mic not working in Zoom? in IT Support ·
Maybe try updating your webcam drivers so Zoom can actually see it—or, if that doesn't work, just try a clean reinstall of Zoom itself.
Dell Inspiron reset in Hardware ·
From what I understand, the best way to handle a BIOS password reset is just to pop the CMOS battery right off the motherboard. That said, I did a little digging online and stumbled upon this tool—might be worth giving it a shot if you're looking for another route... https://bios-pw.org/
This image keeps popping up on my Meta profile in IT Support ·
Look, if you didn't upload that photo yourself, then someone else tagged you in it—which is why it's showing up on your profile. Honestly? Just block that user on Meta if they aren't even on your friends list... it'll save you the headache and stop them from bothering you.
Like someone else already pointed out above, newer laptops and motherboards don't officially support Windows 7 anymore—they're built strictly for Windows 10. And look, even if you try to play hacker and manage to force USB 3.0 drivers and all those other little workarounds into the installation, it doesn't mean the OS is actually going to be 100% reliable. Is it really worth the headache?
Overclocking (Main Thread) in Desktops ·
If you ask me, I wouldn't—you really ought to pick up a decent CPU cooler, and honestly, that motherboard isn't much to write home about either.
How to upload files from a CD? in IT Support ·
I'm assuming the OP thinks those photo extensions were burned onto a CD and the computer just can't "read" them properly, right?
Driver issues with my Dell monitor in IT Support ·
Just a quick heads-up—you don't actually grab the drivers from the monitor itself to get that native resolution working; you actually need them from the graphics card. Since I noticed you're running an AMD setup, why don't you head over here and download the latest ones? https://www.amd.com/en/support
What should I upgrade? in Desktops ·
Haha, not really... if I have to admit one thing I actually like about Nike, it's their old-school tracksuits—everything else feels pretty bland to me
What should I upgrade? in Desktops ·
That’s kind of like asking if I want a Mercedes-Benz or a budget compact with all my gear included—especially since the total package ends up being $10,000 cheaper anyway. 😁 Look, I’m not saying AMD is bad. Honestly, ever since Ryzen dropped and they set that standard of 6 cores for mainstream CPUs—which forced Intel to actually step up their game—I’ve definitely gained some respect for them. But at the end of the day, Intel is just Intel... it's like how Nike is Nike when it comes to sportswear 🙂 rather than Adidas. If you catch my drift? For me, price isn't even the biggest factor here, since I'll be making some money back by selling off my old components.
What should I upgrade? in Desktops ·
Intel is just in my blood 😁—I can’t help myself, honestly. I was actually looking at that exact RAM and a similar motherboard... I don't know if I should pull the trigger just yet, but I know if I did, I'd have peace of mind for years. Plus, I could probably sell off this old i5 4670k, the Gigabyte Z87-HD3, and the 8 gigs of RAM... might recoup a little cash that way.
What should I upgrade? in Desktops ·
Hey everyone, I’m reviving this thread after almost five years... 😁 man, where does the time actually go? 😁 Since the Christmas season is right around the corner, I figured it was finally my turn to treat myself to a new CPU, motherboard, and RAM. I’ve been an Intel guy my whole life, so I was thinking about making the jump to a newer i5 9600k. It's looking like it'll cost me about $733 which isn't really breaking the bank for me. I think I'd see a massive boost compared to my current i5 4670—which, to be fair, has served me well—but lately, I've been hitting some serious bottlenecks in a lot of games. Playing at 1080p just means my processor can't keep up with my GTX 1070 anymore. I don't plan on swapping out the monitor, just these specific parts.

I was leaning towards something like this:

Maybe pair it with a Gigabyte or Asus Z-series board and 16GB of RAM? What do you guys think?
Meta chats keep popping up randomly in IT Support ·
Maybe it’s just some random glitch within Meta—I actually remember seeing an article recently about how both Meta and Instagram went down for a few hours all at once..
How to clean a laptop? in IT Support ·
I’ve seen a handful of YouTube videos where people actually fill up their kitchen sink with water and just dunk their components right in—obviously, everything was powered down, of course. Once they pulled them out, they let them sit for a few days to make sure they were bone-dry, and in the end, everything worked perfectly fine without any damage at all...
Installing Windows 10 on multiple PCs? in IT Support ·
Not gonna happen... a product key is tied to just one machine. If you try to activate the same key on multiple computers, Microsoft will basically blacklist it—then you'll be stuck having to buy a whole new one.
Gaming PC build around $1,500 budget? in Desktops ·
I’ve always been an Intel guy through and through, but I have to admit—this time around, Ryzen is just a much better call when you look at the price-to-performance ratio. This 6-core, 12-thread processor is likely twice as fast as what you're running right now, so you won't have to worry about any bottlenecks with that new Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 GDDR6.
External storage options in Hardware ·
Personally, I’d probably look into Mega—I've heard their cloud service is solid, and honestly, who else is just handing out 50GB for free? Most other providers seem to hover somewhere between 10 and 15GB, much like what our friend here mentioned.
15GB flash drive not being recognized by PC in Computer Peripherals ·
To start things off—have you actually tried plugging that USB stick into a different computer yet?
