And that fight scene—which movie was that from again? It feels totally pre-modern by today's standards. I'm honestly obsessed with both the character and the whole vibe.
As for his sisters... and that dazed look on his face when he first wakes up....
Just got back from the screening. The old man is a straight-up genius. At the start of the film, he barely knew how to operate a camera, but eventually, he started capturing these incredible little details. Pure brilliance... That's all for now, folks. We'll be right back after the break.

Good grief. That guy has pumped out nothing but garbage.
Jerry Martin19 said:Nah, I'm not exactly shocked, but take a look at this poll... Joan of Arc Not a single vote in sight... Leon... The person who got the most votes is pedophile-oriented? Give me a break... Is that even possible? And they aren't even any good either... Nikita...no. The Big Blue
Leon...
So now this poll is supposed to be an indicator of what kind of work it is?!... I didn't say anything bad about Nikita, but as for The Big Blue... fine, yeah, I did... 😬
Leon is basically just some creepy fairy tale about a professional hitman. 🙄 The Big Blue is just plain boring, and I’m too scared to rewatch Nikita because I don't want to be disappointed by her again.
Isabella of Castile isn't that bad, but I haven't seen the others.
The Girl from Ipanema said:I get that it's not really about the suicides... the whole point is growing up, the clashes and divides (generational stuff, boys vs. girls), and how fast time slips away😕 that's how I saw the movie... but I still can't wrap my head around why they all killed themselves.. ..being John Malkovich is 🙏 🙏 ..
Man, I think the point is just how it's presented. In this case, it just happened to be the suicide of those girls. There isn't some deep hidden message; why would anyone even bother looking for one? If there were a clear moral (like: eat your veggies to stay healthy), then it wouldn't be art.
ambertinker77 said:..I didn't really like the movie... but since it had three stars on Rotten Tomatoes, I didn't just go to bed and decided to finish it instead.. I don't get why the girls killed themselves😕
No, just like they said, it wasn't about the guys telling the story either. That simply isn't the point. And nothing against John Malkovich!
Finally watched it last night and I’m floored. Who would've thought I'd actually agree with Jose Miller17? 😉 I don't have the time to write a full-blown review, but it's been ages since I've seen a movie this perfectly balanced. Everyone involved basically delivered their career-best performances. Etc, etc...
👍 9/10. Giving a 9 because I'm not sure I'd ever give any movie a perfect 10. If I did, I'd probably walk it back within three years. bin der, dan det.
Lukas is really leaning into his thing. Especially that singing part, which is such a slippery slope... The driving scenes are just bad. It feels like he tried to make them look good at one point, then pivoted to making them look ironic, but both attempts missed the mark. It just highlights how indecisive he is, and that’s just one small issue in a massive pile of inconsistencies. 🙏
lonebison37 said:does anyone happen to have this album...? I'm REALLY interested. Ljubo Stipišić Delmat is just fascinating to me. So incredibly original, super archaic, complex... 🙏
Come on, someone's gotta have it...😳
He's fascinating, sure, but "original"... He basically just transcribed folk songs (that's where the "archaic" part comes from)

4 Days in September was on TV recently, but everything about it is already on IMDb
That’s probably the first Brazilian film I've ever seen, and it was great right out of the gate 👍
You actually learn a lot about that massive country from the movie 👍
Anyway, what's this idea of "political" vs "non-political" movies when they all have political elements? 😕 I'd argue that maybe only rom-coms, cartoons, and some blockbusters are truly non-political...
Non-political? Yeah, right. Every single film has a political message, whether the director means to or not.
Forget 'Fail Safe' or those '4 Days...' movies. 👍 To me, the actual situation matters more than the stance taken in a political film. That's why, even if it's not totally realistic, 'Munich' works perfectly as a story...
