Joshua Smith5 said:The number of open threads on Reddit proves you wrong.

Whatever. I'll stick to my "don't give a damn" attitude while you keep whining. 🤷

It doesn't prove me wrong. We're talking about deserved punishments. I was complaining about the ones that weren't.

And I used the quote button for that second part.

Look at this guy. You’re seriously acting like you're God's gift to humanity. You show up to the main PDF once a year and then act like you aren't just as guilty as Smoogj. Just because briskhound2 is a veteran doesn't mean you're off the hook...

By the way, if I were in charge, I'd hand you a lifetime ban for trolling this hard immediately.

Joshua Smith5 said:Stop writing. This is a much more effective principle. Not this constant whining for two months straight—it ruins the experience for everyone else on the movie subreddits who isn't involved in your little crusade against windmills. Honestly, you're just killing the vibe for me. I can't speak for the rest of them. You said yourself that the PDF movie was one of the last bastions of quality on this Reddit. What changed?

We're all in this fight together. We aren't ruining the atmosphere; it was already trashed, we just cracked the bowl open and decided to clean it once we realized how bad it stank. I don't even know when it all went south, but there's no turning back now. Just don't cry about it, Ajuto...🙂

And what whining? Where exactly am I whining? I'm speaking up because I refuse to tolerate a lack of basic respect—I'm not going to be a coward. To you, putting up with crap means being a man; to me, it just means being a loser without a spine. Do you even get that this is a forum? This isn't real life, so you don't have to suck up to bosses just to feed your family. At the end of the day, what does the word "forum" even mean? This isn't some niche, specialized board; this is Reddit, a site that loves to brag about being the greatest American forum, where people discuss things, swap opinions, share info, and joke around. People make friends, they argue. There is absolutely no room for repression or censorship here...

Joshua Smith5 said:Cute attempt at intimidation. Fine, whatever—I’ll happily take the reputation of being an apologist for the current position. Just like Mark Wood79, I actually enjoy your movie impressions, even when I disagree with them; even when it's obvious you're just trying to pressure someone with your takes, which is fine—that's how a debate evolves. Aside from briskhound2's occasional stiffness when enforcing moderator rules, you and Murmillo have been absolutely exhausting over the last month or so. If you're this annoying to me, a regular Reddit user, I can only imagine what it's like for the actual moderators. This is a damn forum. Moderators make mistakes in their interventions, they do! I've been warned and given cards too; my posts have been deleted, sometimes unfairly, but look... this is a damn forum. Take the penalty, man up, and get back to posting. Instead, you two whined the whole time, and if you did come back after being restricted, you'd only be worse. I don't agree with the partialities you faced, but you practically invited them with your posts. I'm speaking up because you specifically said that as a frequent guest on the PDF movie, I should.

I never even doubted it...

Just like Mark Wood79, I actually dig your movie impressions, even when we don't see eye to eye. Even when it’s obvious you’re just trying to stir the pot to get a reaction—which honestly, is better, because it keeps the debate alive... Aside from briskhound2 being occasionally rigid when he's acting as a moderator, you and Murmillo have been absolutely exhausting over the last month or so. If you're this much of a headache to me, a regular user, I can only imagine how much you're driving the mods crazy. This is a damn Reddit thread. Moderators make mistakes in their calls—they do! I've even caught warnings and cards myself, had posts deleted, sometimes unfairly, but hey... it's a damn Reddit thread. Take your punishment, man up, and get back to posting. Instead, you two just whined the whole time, and if you had actually come back after the friction, you would've only made things worse. I don't agree with the bans you got, but you definitely invited them with your posts...

You just don't get the core issue—this whole revolt is about principle. You have people waking up from a catatonic state just to bring up things that were already settled. But honestly, it’s just how this administration operates. They’re experts at dodging the question of following proper procedure. I saw this coming, obviously—not because I think I deserve punishment, but because I can predict their entire playbook of retaliation... Lately, though, I'm actually surprised by how lenient they've been, like, not even deleting my posts. Regarding Harper, there’s all this talk about some clan and constant mocking. I haven't participated in any of that, nor did I ever even reach out to Harper directly until a few weeks ago. And even that was only prompted by the moderators' double standards and that whole period where they were gloating over Murmill two months ago, which is what started this whole mess in the first place. Throughout this entire time, they haven't shown an ounce of good faith or any desire to clean up their own mess, so why on earth should I bother correcting my behavior? Especially when I remember the heavy artillery they pulled from the top brass...

I'm checking in, since you just suggested that I should make an appearance—given how much of a regular I am on this PDF movie...

Come on, at least something...

Joshua Smith5 said:You should have added a few more facepalms there. 🙂

It’s interesting how you people interpret things. I never told anyone to shut up, bow down to the moderators, or just take it. No. I said—and Henry Campbell5 should get that—that you eat the crap you pooped out, serve your DESERVED punishment, and then come back to post later. How he chooses to write after that is his business.

Since I hold a different view than Henry Campbell5—because I believe both him and Murmillo bear more responsibility for all the stupid situations currently happening on the Movie forum—I guess I'm the one bowing down, right? Just because I think differently than him. 🤷

I take my deserved punishments without any trouble. I'll eat the crap I pooped out and ask for a redo. Besides, I've been banned before. So your little theories about me whining are completely misplaced. I don't know what you're trying to get out of this, but it feels like you're just posing... honestly, you're being boring even to yourself. 🙂

Jerry Rogers6 said:Listen, buddy,

I'm not letting this slide because it's flat-out false. It's just some nonsense that's gained traction despite having zero basis in reality.

Don't be a coward and start throwing out baseless accusations just for the sake of it.🙂

I didn't time him down to the exact second, but I don't see him around much. And he doesn't exactly make a fuss about it either... 😁

Lisa Hernandez3 said:I’m mostly talking about the communication here. This thread alone is a perfect example of people failing to actually engage with others or follow basic patterns of answering questions about partial payments. Unless you think arguing for the sake of arguing is actually useful... When it comes to partials, which are basically strict penalties, the math needs to be spot on. Every single cent...

That's it. I get the feeling they're finally letting me off the leash just so I can lose control... and then they can say they told me so... Did anyone actually tell you...Still nothing on my profile or in my inbox. Not a single word about those procedural errors...

quietdriver3 said:Maybe I’ll draw a parallel to that other thread about moderation.

The obvious reason he started feeling like things were "unfair" was when a single smiley face post got wiped from the chat. That was the specific moment his faith in the mods just... broke.

As for the underlying stuff... I don't know what that is, but I’m pretty sure it involves some kind of breakfast casserole.

Well, we're screwed. Anyone else want in...?

Timothy Davis59 said:Started with a smiley and ended with a partial credit 🤣

Joshua Smith5 said:Your little games and the way you handle discussions—specifically how you try to shut people out—are pathetic. 😁 No, you aren't whining; you're just cleaning up the trash on Reddit. Good luck with that, Bickle. 😉

What exactly are you implying? How am I shutting people out? Just look at briskhound2's pattern of behavior... that's what you should be talking about.

quietdriver3 said:There’s also this other small detail, I suppose. Trying to tear down a sub-forum by just picking at people isn't really a way to settle the score over some injustice.

I mean, announcing a plan to stir the pot definitely doesn't count as making a constructive contribution.

raiding the sub-forum🙂

so what's the alternative? just get deleted and take it like a man? 🙂

Patrick Martin said:Sides? Man, I'm not taking any damn sides. I'm just laying out my perspective and trying to stay as objective as possible. I'm not rooting for anyone. Honestly, that whole client-based, clique-heavy approach some people are pushing right now is exactly what caused this mess on Reddit in the first place.
I've always kept my distance from the mods, and I'm keeping it that way. I don't want to play nice with the other users either, because if life has taught me anything, it's that you gotta avoid that too—especially on "public" platforms like this.
In a way, Murmillo and Bloomer became victims of that exact mindset; they basically boxed themselves in. You can't go around picking fights with the entire moderation team just to be stubborn, man. I'm still saying it: when you're dealing with sensitive topics, you have to be strict.
And it blows my mind how supposedly smart people can't grasp that this is a public forum, not some private group chat for a few buddies.
Look, I'll be the first to sign off on their "liberation," BUT only if they fix that one problematic section. (I really don't have the energy right now to explain the full timeline to people who weren't there, and that history goes way back into the archives of this Reddit community—I've been lurking here for about 2 years now).
What, should everyone start stigmatizing briskhound2 just because he's sticking to certain principles that, if you look at the big picture, are totally fine? At the end of the day, he's just a regular user and he's gonna keep posting on this forum regardless.

It would be best if I sat down and explained the whole timeline to every single one of you individually, depending on how much of a joke I feel like making of you.
I mean, I've been punished for way more minor stuff than this.
Buddy, don't go there. ☕

But this really is a private mess. 🤷 If it weren't, the partial restructuring would actually follow the rules. Of course, that would reveal there's no reason for a partial split, but plenty of reason to replace the current admin structure—since they acted entirely on their own whims, without transparency, without good intentions, and most importantly, while breaking their own rules.

I'm not changing my ways because I don't even know what behavior of mine is supposedly "problematic." Do you really want to be known as the guy constantly making excuses for the current administration?

thanks everyone! thanks to you too, Patrick Martin. 🙂

I wanted to share my favorite morning prayer with you all:

Father, I come before You at the start of this day. I'm looking for the wisdom to avoid making foolish mistakes—knowing when to speak up, when to stay silent, when to step in, and when to hold back.

I'm coming to find PEACE, so nothing today can shake me or cause anxiety. I'm seeking the courage to be patient, to keep hope alive, and to handle disappointment, trusting that You will turn everything around for my good.

I'm here to find love, so nothing makes me bitter, hard-hearted, or unkind.

I want to start this day with You and walk through it by Your side, so there's no room for regret.

Father, You are my provider; I know You see all my needs.

Father, You are my protector. Keep me safe from all darkness today, cover me with the precious Blood of Your Son Jesus, and surround me with Your angels. In Jesus's name, I pray. Amen!

Thanks for the thousands of supportive messages...

regarding contributions, how many Reddit users actually contribute anything meaningful?

Pretty much everyone, really—through discussions, posting, and joining threads without intentionally stirring the pot or acting out just because they have some weird grudge against someone for their own amusement.

what's the actual criteria for a contribution?

Keeping things chill for the rest of the community.

if there even is one, you should probably be the first one to leave this PDF movie site—your style of moderating has chased away everyone, not just the people you're targeting. at least I wrote reviews. they weren't perfect, sure, but I wrote them. what exactly are you bringing to the table?

Whatever your petty reasons are, it doesn't matter. Your "why" question was answered.

how long does a partial ban last?

Permanent, as far as I know...

what exactly prompted the combined moderator-admin brain trust to make that call?

Constant trolling of the users and mods, flame wars, just straight-up spamming to stir the pot... there's zero actual contribution to the PDF movie besides, like I said, just poking people to get a reaction—especially from the mods.

I never received any kind of warning like that.

Liar. It wasn't constant provocation. There was only provocation directed at those who wanted it, mostly you. So maybe ask yourself why...

As for contributions, how many people on this Reddit actually contribute anything? What’s the criteria here? The alphabet of fear. The actresses are stunning—especially those villainous types. Megan Fox actually reminds me of her. You can feel this mounting anxiety building toward the end... I loved that nonchalant moment with the cigarette. It instantly pulls you into a spy thriller vibe, especially since we don't even see the mastermind behind it all. What annoyed me was her constant, mindless dusting. My impression is that the movie never really digs deep into any single aspect; it feels like it was made with one hand tied behind its back. We never truly understand the stakes of the mission, the terror isn't visceral enough 😉, and the action sequences lack polish. Plus, the whole Nazi atmosphere in a place like Chicago feels totally superficial. Well, since it’s a 1961 flick, we basically have these old-school, vampire-like fascists on one side and the hunters on the other—two sides of the coin. The way they drag out the mystery of the maid is a bit naive, but honestly, that's just classic Hitchcock. The camera work is suggestive and does a great job of creating that sense of danger. There you go. V.

swiftdriver63 said:Unlike most of you, movie nights weren't really a thing in my house growing up. Back when I started school around '96—it was quite the scene—the shelves were practically buckling under the weight of books (my granddad had started his collection back then), we had this old record player that hadn't been touched in years sitting next to a mountain of vintage jazz LPs, and a tiny TV with only two channels—just the usual small-town life, honestly, with a terrible signal. We didn't even own a VCR, which was basically all I wanted at the time. Specifically, I was hunting for Van Damme, Schwarzenegger, and Stallone. Then, a few years later, the VCR finally arrives! I sprinted to the local rental shop and grabbed a tape featuring some brooding, buff guy on the cover—he looked like the toughest guy out there. Years later, I realized that movie was actually Natural Born Killers. I wasn't a fan, so I went right back to my reliable go-to, Van Damme—the absolute king. I don't recall my dad ever watching movies with me (Mom did, though—she’d share in my wide-eyed enthusiasm), and Dad definitely looked down on my "artistic" taste. On Sundays, he'd solemnly clean his glasses and watch some Western on TV. Cowboys and comic books were the only "guilty pleasures" he allowed himself in the realm of art; for everything else, he stuck strictly to Janson's Art History.
In high school, having a computer made films much easier to access, but I don't remember a single one grabbing my attention the way literature or music did. Father Ryan, Braveheart, Gladiator... they were fine, sure, but there was just no spark. Only Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels—now *that* was something! I remember thinking, "Whoa, okay, this is different, this is actually good." But even that flame flickered out pretty fast. I pretty much gave up on movies altogether.
Then came three years at the Student Union without a TV, a laptop, or the internet—total zero movies. But then a friend asked me to join her at the Student Union for a screening of her favorite film, Sky over Berlin, so I went along. That was the turning point. Something just hit me—it was like I was high or something; actual magic happened. It completely blew my mind, and honestly, I'm still reeling from it.
Good movies exist.

Took me about ten seconds to realize which movie we were talking about...

If I remember correctly, this was one of those movies that actually hooked me on cinema... I’d watched stuff before, obviously, but this felt different. I went to the theater and saw that scene where Robin Williams and everyone else just start dancing the second he spots the girl he's in love with. That was it. I was so young back then... barely out of diapers...
