Well, the first one was garbage too. 🤷
Patrick Martin said:I wasn't even speaking in generalities. Gay people are human beings, and honestly, knowing that just adds more weight to the story. 🤷
it gives the movie a whole new, deeper layer... 😬

Everyone ends up gay in prison, so I don't think they actually are—and I have nothing against them, regardless of their race or where they're from.

Since we're on the subject, that depicts the tender relationship between two men much more directly and convincingly than any other prison flick I've seen. At least, from what I've watched, since most of them are just filled with gratuitous gay crap for my taste.

Just skip the gay stuff, please!
Patrick Martin said:prison is just pure melodrama 🤷

Not prison in general, specifically The Shawshank Redemption. Even the title is cheesy. And that pathetic puppy-dog look on his face every time he gets screwed over, or how happy he looks when he drags Morgan down with him... I know they don't show it explicitly, but how else would a cold-blooded killer love him?
Patrick Martin said:I watched The Shawshank Redemption and Escape from Alcatraz a long time ago, though I probably would've caught that similarity. From what I remember, Escape from Alcatraz just can't touch The Shawshank Redemption in any category, but that doesn't mean it's a bad movie. It’s got that gritty 70s American vibe, plus Clint Eastwood is a legend. Sure, there are some overlaps, but honestly, that's true for pretty much every prison flick out there.

Yeah, it definitely loses on the melodrama front.

Regarding the topic at hand: remakes, sequels, and all that stuff that bugs you—they'll keep filming them as long as they make money, and damn it, they're making money.

Movies and this sub would have died out long ago if they only focused on "high art." It’s a shame to rob people who love a good roast of their entertainment. Though, honestly, I'm finding it less and less entertaining lately...

I'm a Christian, I'm rational, but I'm not a believer. Logic pushes me toward doing good, and vice versa. If I sound wicked, it's only because I'm trying to do the right thing. 🙂
Anyway, enough about me, let's talk about my Batmobile.
I’m starting to become immune to mass stupidity here. Well, not entirely... and I honestly can't believe how many people are posting fake credentials in these movie threads. They're such liars that I don't even bother engaging with them anymore, even when they bring up the classic titles everyone swears by.

I’m taking this opportunity to request a new sub-forum within film specifically to ghettoize all the sequels, remakes, and blockbusters—basically everything that's just waiting to be filmed and already has its own thread. I’d also like to ask the mods if I could dump all those annoying topics into one stinky little corner, stuff like the greatest movie in history, which actor's brother is actually the best ever and other garbage: which Batman was the best, which Godfather, which whatever... thanks in advance.

Yeah, right.

Fine, if I really have to: it was sarcasm. I’ve got a sneaking suspicion I’m right on the edge of a ban, so I don't know how to be blunt without getting wiped (not that I care about the bans). Basically, the editors of these tiny little outlets should be the ones moderating other media. Ha ha. And then turn a PDF into something resembling TV.

Whatever bugged Guga and made him stop posting bothers me too. I’m not alone in that, though I can't reply to everyone via DM. 😉 It’s like he was poking a hornet's nest. Isn't that interesting? Everything gets deleted, everything gets punished based on a first glance at an opinion that seemed perfectly harmless regarding TV networks. Is the staff just being petty, or is there something bigger going on? All Guga wanted—or at least that's how I saw it—was for the network's site to actually cater to people looking for more sophisticated TV content.

hollowtrucker77 said:if this whole subforum just revolves around Guggenheim, we might as well shut it down...

Maybe we should just get a massive sponsorship from Ford, then have the moderators switch between being New York Post editors on even days and local news anchors on odd days. hahahaha. heh. 😕

Dead subforum. Aside from the absolute garbage on the New York Post thread and those random spammers trying to plug their own sites, there’s just total silence here. For years, it’s basically just been Guga keeping a handful of us actually engaged. Congrats on the moderation gig.

Maybe Guga is just on vacation, but ever since he got censored over there, there's nothing worth reading. Pretty soon, even the formal debate will be more popular than this. 🙂
Is Michael Bay actually a bad director? in Movies ·
Lisa Ross65 said:Let’s shake things up here since the new Transformers are hitting theaters soon. Has anyone actually changed their mind about Michael Bay? Is he a hack in your eyes, or is he one of the best at what he does—directing those massive, high-budget spectacles designed purely to rake in cash while you leave your brain at the door?

Yeah.

What does that sentence even have to do with anything? I know it’s not about grammar...

Honestly, if we didn't have that, this whole forum would just disappear. 🤷

Guys, obsessing over Denzel while mocking Eva Mendes isn't exactly the vibe for this heteropdf... go ask Laura about that.

Dana Murphy4 said:If you aren't enjoying the topic, maybe you shouldn't have started the thread in the first place. ☕ I don't really feel like getting into an argument with you here. 👎

So, only people who worship that guy Steven Seagal—who apparently has more facial expressions than most actors—are allowed to post here?...

You're really arguing? Yeah, unlike you, I don't have anything to prove, especially not to someone else... 🙏

Dana Murphy4 said:I guess I’ll just write however I want, since nobody really asked for your opinion anyway, so maybe you shouldn't worry about things that don't concern you. Right?

Write however you want... fine by me.

Did anyone actually ask you? It’s not like there's a police force stopping people from posting nonsense... I'm not sure you get how a forum works: you post something, then someone else replies—sometimes even to what you just said—and that's how it goes...

And where exactly am I supposed to be? On the thread about mediocre actors and wasted potential... you've got a point...

Michelle Rodriguez83 said:"Just Me" is this psychological drama where a teenage girl named Lori loses her grip on reality and conjures up an imaginary friend who turns out to be a real person...
who is actually just herself.

I'm lost: imaginary yet real, and also herself? She invented her own true self? And that's what makes her crazy?

Is this some kind of psychological twist?
