Religion classes in school - Megathread in Students & Teens ·
If you feel the burning need to debate whether God or man invented physics and mathematics, please go download a theology textbook instead. Any post attempting to drag this sub into those endless, circular arguments will be deleted immediately, and the agitators will be handed a lifetime ban.
The same logic applies to feeding the trolls. Let them starve; it’ll make life much more pleasant for everyone involved.
Thanks for cooperating!

I’m asking everyone to please cut out the name-calling, the subtle jabs, and the more blatant attempts at trolling. As for those endless debates about the dark ages of the 1970s or any other historical grievances dating back to the colonial era—let’s save those topics for politics, religion, or just a heated argument at home.
I will be promptly discarding any further participation in this kind of bickering.
Thanks for listening!

The debate really spiraled out of control once the moderators completely botched the thread. You kicked things off with that "who gives a damn" attitude when opening the topic, Sarah Doyle54 used her mod status to insult believers, you went back to changing the thread status from casual chat to strictly moderated, and frankly, all the moderators together act like a unified front just to cover for one another whenever it suits them.

I actually moved this thread out of Mystery just yesterday because the discussion was gaining momentum.
That’s how we handle anything that takes off in Mystery; we separate it. In those cases, the designated starting post is the original one that sparked the conversation in Mystery—not some polished, manufactured opening post designed specifically to bait people.
Furthermore, the ZK rules clearly outline how inflammatory topics are handled, which was all agreed upon during our last PZK correspondence, so I don't see why everyone is acting so surprised.

It's kind of like farting in a coffee shop—it's not illegal, nothing says you can't do it, so it's just quirky and cool, right? And if you're bothered by it, then I guess you're just being uptight and offensive. 😁

Oh, Fesa, you should be the very last person talking about passing gas in a coffee shop.
You let one rip whenever you feel like it and act like it's no big deal.
Some people find your posts fitting, some find them funny, while others report them because they find them out of line, tacky, or rude. Sometimes you actually steer a conversation in the right direction, and sometimes you completely derail it, but generally speaking, you mostly just pass gas in peace.

@Joshua Williams82 - Zelenskyy is going to turn out exactly how you make him. As long as everyone nitpicks every single letter, whines about every misplaced glance, takes offense at every word, and just waits for the next opportunity to start a drama fest... things are going to go south.
Yes, I used the word "whine." That is precisely how this looks to me. Go ahead, crucify me just because I used that word. 🙏

Look, if we were moderating a Politics sub or some structured PDF with clearly defined rules and specific behavioral standards—where we actually lead by example to show users how to interact according to those guidelines—then I’d say it makes sense to demand that level of decorum.
But that isn't the reality here at ZK. ZK is a messy, loud, and unfiltered PDF.
I don't see the point in moderators modeling a type of behavior that isn't actually required of the users and doesn't fit the general vibe of this PDF.
What, are we supposed to write all these gentle, polite, sterile, and measured posts like we're following the strict academic standards of a Viennese school?
And then what? We expect you all to act the same way? We just banish every argument, every bit of banter, every troll, and every joke?
At that rate, we might as well just shut down the chat and the off-topic section too. 👋
Sure, we could do that, but a ZK that's been stripped of its flavor won't appeal to anyone.
Personally, I wouldn't moderate a place like that, nor would I bother posting there.

I don't know... I'll leave it to the mods and admins to review what happened. I really have nothing else to add.

I’m not out here saying Paul Morales3 needs to be punished, slapped with a warning, heaven forbid banned, or stripped of her mod status. Not at all. It's just common sense—people are naturally going to feel uneasy when someone holding a position of authority (even if it's just being a moderator on some online forum) acts incredibly condescending toward them for zero reason. You have to take that into account, because that kind of behavior does absolutely nothing to help the laid-back vibe of this site—if anything, it kills it.

Paul Morales3 went at her like a common farm bird. There was no waving signage, no colorful ink, no fighting over tools—just a standard, messy squabble. ejsin hit back, and she reclaimed all five points. They basically just pecked at one another and that was that.
If this ends up impacting how ejsin manages posts, then we’ll have a legitimate issue to address. Until then, this is nothing more than a playground scuffle.

Not quite.
Both scenarios involve attacking the individual rather than the subject matter, while airing grievances about the platform's vibe and user behavior. Furthermore, neither instance has anything to do with the actual topic being discussed; they are outbursts triggered by general impressions built up over various threads and time.

I honestly don't know what else to tell you. If Paul Morales3 had slapped you with a ban just because you talked back, I would have called her a terrible moderator, and frankly, I might have suggested she was about as bright as a broken flashlight. But she didn't issue a ban.
You both had a little spat, and that was it.
The same thing happened recently with her and her, and nothing came of it. No bans, no warnings, no emails, nothing.

No—it’s because of the unequal treatment.
This kind of back-and-forth is perfectly normal—until the moderators decide to step in and ruin everything.

It’s nice to see you stepped up as a moderator—though, to be honest, I haven't really caught sight of you over on the ZK lately.

🤣

Precisely.

We’ve made this point several times now: we aren't here to micromanage you, so please don't try to micromanage us.
The moderators before us handled things just fine using this approach, and I fully expect those who follow us to do the same. As long as we aren't reaching for the "red card" to shut down the debate, I don't see the issue.
Pet PDF: Two post submissions and two questions in Feedback & Suggestions ·
bluerider2 said:As soon as this was posted, I flagged the thread as redundant. I even suggested merging it with the first aid - sick pet thread. Instead, they left it standing alone. I get why the FD moderator might be hyper-focused on this specific issue—apparently, it’s a common headache for Maltese owners—but that doesn't change the fact that the thread is unnecessary. It feels like it was kept up solely due to moderator bias, or at the very least, it's been poorly titled.

There is absolutely no reason to lump this in with medical issues. We are talking about the most basic maintenance struggle involving white coats.
In my experience, just about every dog enthusiast forum in the country has at least one dedicated thread for maintaining white breeds. Keeping their coat pristine is significantly more high-maintenance than dealing with darker colors; it requires specialized grooming, specific dietary adjustments, and a dozen different products that owners of non-white dogs wouldn't even know exist. These threads usually turn into battlegrounds where enthusiasts argue over "angel drops" versus mineral water, before eventually reaching a consensus to collectively complain about how much carotene in certain kibbles affects coat color.
To be honest, I find it surprising this hasn't been an established topic for years. If they just tweaked the title slightly, it would be perfectly fine.

I have to say, I’ve never heard anyone owning a differently colored breed claim they were being discriminated against. 🤣
The internet is vast; we aren't going to run out of bandwidth if this remains its own separate discussion. 😳

And yes, bluerider2, you’ve moderated before, so you know better than anyone that mods aren't obligated to act on every single report or adopt every suggestion from the community. Every moderator, and every new group of mods that takes over, brings their own unique philosophy on how to organize the site. And frankly, that’s exactly how it should be.
Why wasn't this post moderated? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Chloe Roberts2, you posted yesterday, and in less than 24 hours, you’ve already filed about twenty different reports—including reports on individual poems. Now, you're opening an entirely new thread just to discuss it.
We reviewed the post and decided it doesn't warrant a ban.

Honestly, please try to dial back the intensity and just relax a little.
Bans and account suspensions aren't handed out on command.
Repeatedly clicking the report button, flooding us with messages, and starting new threads over the exact same post is considered spamming and interferes with our ability to moderate effectively.
Condescending, disrespectful, and passive-aggressive behavior in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Chloe Roberts2, I’ve reviewed the reports, and they don't warrant any disciplinary action.
What we're seeing here is standard, relatively mild NBA banter. If you intend to stay active in those threads, you might want to get used to this kind of interaction, especially since you tend to flag things that aren't actually breaking any rules.
The topic at hand is names, and the girls are just teasing each other. Let them be. You should join in on the fun, too—but if that’s not your style, there’s a completely serious thread about naming conventions over on CNN where you can dive into the details with more gravity.

I went ahead and removed the last few posts you reported in the chat, handled the situation, and asked the user to refrain from posting them again.

There.
Honestly,
I should probably mention I’m typing this on a tablet. It supposedly has a touchscreen, but I feel like a complete Neanderthal trying to use it. A total caveman. I have zero coordination with this thing; I’m tapping away like I’m using a shovel, and it’s making me just as frustrated as I’m sure it’s making you.
Basically, all this is just a bunch of nonsense.
Regarding the continuation of work actions following a final warning, I believe such measures need to be strictly enforced. I trust that women will hold their ground in these matters. Personally, I wouldn't dare attempt anything through this piece of junk device.
As for banning discussions regarding religion, I am firmly against such an amputation of the ZK. That said, this specific thread hasn't exactly proven that ZK is the perfect environment for such debates.
On the subject of politics—I remain relentlessly opposed. We don't need it. Bradley Sanders4 explained everything perfectly in post 26, and I have nothing more to add to that.
Regarding the idea of banning certain topics altogether—given everything that has unfolded here, the idea actually seems brilliant today. If this thread has demonstrated anything, it’s that lightly moderated forums like this tend to attract the most offended and agitated users. You ignore the warnings, you wonder why the rules exist, and then you feel targeted when things get wiped—but even that isn't an option anymore. Everyone acts perfectly fine and "cool" here, yet they tell a completely different story in their official applications.
To be blunt, I’m getting a bit tired of everything that has been happening within and surrounding this thread. There.

Feel free to tear this post apart. I don't have the mental energy to wrestle with this devilish device any longer today.

Insert emojis at your leisure.
This post isn't aimed at anyone in particular, but if you recognize yourself in it, well, that’s just how it goes.

Thanks. Now, please, feel free to mock my touchscreen skills.
Jamie Davis17 said:I wasn't even being snarky. I'm sorry if it came across that way, but what's your deal? 😕
I'm starting (or starting) threads, and I'm definitely not trying to belittle anyone else's topics, but looking at the first page, it's just a massive wall of threads about shopping, stores, plastic surgery, weight, girlfriends, where to buy things, and who to buy them from.
That's all great, really, but that shouldn't be everything there is to talk about.
Nobody is attacking the moderators because of the subject matter; I never said that anywhere.
I was just stating my opinion—that there are just too many of us here for everyone to have the exact same taste in discussions. I mean, come on, we all live different lives, and I certainly don't expect you and me, to say nothing of everyone else reading and writing, to be interested in the exact same things.
I mentioned the kid and the pets because that's how I recognize you here on the women's corner; am I wrong? I don't think that's a bad thing at all, truly, it's just that I don't see you actually participating in the discussions. Whatever the reason might be—whether you're just not feeling it, or you're busy, or you lack the will, or maybe you used to post on similar sites before—honestly, the reason doesn't matter to me—but I just don't see you engaging, aside from moderating.
My only takeaway is that maybe this kind of stuff doesn't interest you right now, which is totally fine, but I could easily say that I'd write about other topics too.
You said that the forum isn't the place for those kinds of discussions, implying that's not what the forum should be used for.
I just don't agree. I really believe the forum is a place for conversation.
I'm not sure why you felt insulted; that wasn't my intention. It's not like I go around insulting people normally; I'm just trying to show you how it looks from someone else's perspective.

Everything's at a five.
I took it as a jab. Honestly, I can't blame them; I’m fully aware that my writing style isn't what it used to be. Part of it is just burnout—I feel like I’ve already exhausted every argument in a thousand different threads. The other part? My attention span just isn't what it once was, making it hard to dive deep into anything particularly heavy.
God, the constant itching and scratching... it's enough to drive anyone crazy. 😁

I honestly dread getting involved in debates like this on the forums I moderate. I know exactly how it plays out: once people start talking absolute nonsense and I have to step in to shut it down, someone inevitably starts accusing me of targeting anyone who disagrees with them. It’s much easier to stay on the sidelines. At least that way, nobody can come after me for being biased. 👋

Jamie Davis17 As specified by:
You mentioned earlier that this forum isn't intended to be a platform for those kinds of debates—essentially, that it shouldn't serve that purpose at all.
I have to disagree. I truly believe this forum should be a space for actual conversation.

I think we might have had a bit of a misunderstanding.

Let’s try this again.
I mentioned earlier that we put out a formal warning asking everyone to just calm down, but clearly, it was met with total indifference.
You wrote that we need to figure out how to stay calm when there isn't even a pressure valve left to let the steam out.
I’ve already made my point: this forum isn't a dumping ground for venting; it's a space meant for actual discussion. 🤷
steelskipper5 said:They're missing.

And it isn't just happening in the women's corner—which, let's be honest, usually hosts much better discussions than the other subforums where people actually stay on topic.

The whole forum feels sterilized now.
Everything and anything gets banned—usually under the guise of "trolling."

velvettrucker52, you know exactly how I feel about bans, especially when they're slapped on just for trolling.
People label just about everything as trolling, and over the years, that's slowly killed off most decent discussions. Now, if you satirize someone's opinion, it's "trolling." If you caricature an idea, it's "trolling." And gradually, the conversation just dies.

Then, whenever something actually interesting comes up—when things get a bit intense—the loudest voices get silenced first. And suddenly, a heated, engaging debate becomes dull and uninteresting.

For three days straight, I was reading how one side was lying in one of these threads. But since most people on the other side don't realize it's a lie, it goes totally unchecked. Because lying isn't against the rules; only "trolling" is—whatever that even means.

I don't have much left to say. Not after everything that's happened since I got banned. For what?
The way this forum uses bans has gone way too far. But at this point, it's not even a problem anyone here can, knows how to, or wants to fix.

I know. And you know mine, too.
Look, for the love of everything holy, we simply cannot have unmoderated PDFs floating around here. We just can't. I honestly don't know how many more times I’m going to have to repeat myself in this thread.
The forum is a private space, and the owner is adamant about keeping it moderated. If you decide to take a stand against that, don't hold your breath—it’s going to be an uphill battle trying to talk him into changing his mind.

If I had my way, I’d sign off on getting rid of those cardboard penalties entirely. Instead, we should expand the suspension system to include one, two, or even three-hour breaks. You just lie down, cool your head, and move on with your day. If you’re still feeling heated after that, you stay down for another hour. But unfortunately, we don't exactly have that luxury here.
We’ve got deletions, bans, and warnings.
We’ve decided to scrap the plan to delete everything from the ZK, since that was what you all were asking for.
The warnings and penalties are staying. You ignored every heads-up and every plea to get back on track, so don't act surprised now.
God, they’re just leaving behind nothing but cardboard.
Honestly, I’ve already said this once in this thread, but it truly sucks to have the women's corner sitting empty for three days without its usual regulars.
The final option is to implement a period of forced cooling off—essentially locking things down to let passions simmer down. But even then, you're likely just trading one type of misery for another.

To put it bluntly: we can't please everyone. We’re working with the hand we've been dealt, doing the best we can with the resources at our disposal, and that’s really all there is to it. We’ve tried to play nice and soften our stance as much as possible, but we've hit a wall. At least, not without better tools to work with.

This thread has spiraled into a complete three-way standoff. People are out here venting about every little grievance under the sun—one person even suggested that if we didn't put out the fire ourselves, it would just end up on the nightly news and then some corporate admins would have to step in and handle it. Personally, I’d much rather leave it to us folks who actually understand how this PDF works than hand it over to someone who doesn't have the slightest clue what they're doing.

Look, cartoons are what they are. I can certainly write custom ones—in fact, that’s usually my go-to—but when a topic gets this massive and heated, and everyone starts throwing verbal grenades left and right, I stick to the standard forum fare. That covers the trolling and the insults; if anyone actually needs clarification, I'll step in and explain. They’d earn just as many points as if I had drafted a custom response to handle the exhausting bickering, the constant sarcasm, or any other brand of mindless disruption intended to derail the conversation.
Jamie Davis17 said:The whole point of a forum should be actual discussion.
If I wasn't being clear enough before, let me try to be more precise. I mean real discussions. Real debates, with arguments and actual back-and-forth. I get that mods have to hand out warnings and bans—and yeah, I felt bad when Xena's status changed, but then I read later that she had just accumulated too many points, so okay, fine.
Maybe for you, finding a topic and just venting about your kids or your pets counts as a "discussion," but please, let me suggest that it isn't everyone's idea of high-level debate.

Regarding the moderation itself, I don't really have anything to say. Things are just really heated right now, people are getting emotionally invested and arguing quite fiercely, and at the end of the day, there are less than 10 days left until those petitions wrap up, so this won't stay relevant forever (at least the part about the referendum request). So, I guess I'd just hate to see the whole thing boil over.

Start some threads, get talking... who's stopping you?
If you feel there's a shortage of certain topics, don't look at the moderators. On the women's corner, aside from politics, nothing is off-limits. You can talk about whatever you want.
Honestly, whining about how there are too many "this" types of posts and not enough "that" type of debate isn't going to change anything.

Look, fine, but I'm just not interested in dragging this out. I have no intention of continuing this conversation.

I mean, I guess this is probably the first time in months where we haven't been spiraling through endless debates about urban decay, swapping out bras every five minutes, or deep dives into eating habits, haircuts, weight, childbirth, breasts, or cellulite—you know, those threads where nobody ends up in a fistfight just because someone claimed an angel descended from heaven, sliced their breasts off live on camera, and showed off their cellulite while wearing a bra for two days straight.
The reason we aren't issuing warnings about stricter moderation for those topics is simply because there's never a thread where people get *this* worked up over, say, whether a dining room looks more chic or basic, or which big-box retailer we prefer shopping at.
Everything got so heated because, after what feels like forever, a massive wave of people decided to jump in. The view count is absolutely insane—we're sitting at 35,611 views right now—and suddenly, everything is intense and high-stakes.

So, how exactly are we supposed to calm down when the pressure valve has basically been shut off? And honestly, people need this outlet. Seriously, I've been reading posts from people I had almost forgotten even existed; folks from other subreddits have been popping in just to join the fray. Because it matters to them. And yeah, we don't agree, and most people actually had solid points to make.

There hasn't really been any extreme drama or whatever, so I'd say it was just spirited. Everything came out in the open, sure, but why shut the whole thing down? People are writing, a huge crowd is reading, the owner is happy, and the revenue is flowing in.

Look, I’m sorry, but this forum isn't really intended to be used for that. At least, not in this particular way.
If you're just looking for a place to vent and lash out at everyone, go find another hobby. If your only goal is to pick fights and turn every discussion into a forum brawl, then stop wasting our time.
The sheer number of reports coming out of this thread makes one thing crystal clear: most people involved in that outburst didn't find it nearly as entertaining as they thought they would.

Look, if you ignore the warnings and the polite requests to stay on track, locking a thread is a far superior option than handing out yellow cards or jumping straight to a ban. We’ve gone three days now without any interesting contributors because of this approach. Locking a topic for a few hours gives people a chance to cool off and reset; it ensures that by tomorrow morning, we're dealing with people who are seeing blue instead of seeing red.
Personally, I find this much more appealing than what we're currently stuck with.

Let me say this one more time: ZK cannot function without full moderation. It simply can't. Period. Neither the owner nor the admins would ever allow it to operate that way. We’ve tried to soften his stance as much as possible, but we’ve hit a wall—there isn't much more we can do. At the end of the day, this forum is private property, and the owner wants it moderated.

I’m honestly at a loss for what else to say about this topic. I mean it. We feel like we’ve hashed out every single possible angle over the last few months, but the idea of the women's corner acting as little more than an emotional pressure valve is a concept that remains incredibly difficult to swallow.
I’ll leave it to the mods and admins to weigh in. At this point, I really have nothing left to say.
Kevin Mitchell20 said:What I was referring to is the women's corner in general, where the specific vocabulary I highlighted can usually slide by without anyone getting banned.

In the women's corner, a massive amount of stuff is allowed to pass through without any consequences.
And it absolutely does.

However, when the mods step in and tell you to tighten things up because a thread is about to face stricter moderation—which isn't something we issue every single day—it would be reasonable for you to take that to heart.
We typically drop those warnings when people start hurling nasty insults, or when participants or even just lurkers begin reporting posts for being offensive, blatant trolling, or simply being aggravating in other ways.

The women's corner is loosely moderated, but it can't be completely lawless. It just can't. Not if Anderlon has anything to say about it. Absolutely not.
You can get away with a lot more in the women's corner than in any other sub-forum on this site, but even there, you need to know when to pull back once you've been warned. I'm not suggesting you should tuck your tails between your legs and start writing like choirboys and choir girls, but the nasty insults and the trolling? That needs to stop.

To put it simply: for threads where we announce stricter moderation, we expect you to behave with the same decorum you’d use in any other part of the forum. The relaxed nature of the women's corner covers the banter, the occasional troll, the heated debates, and the general nonsense, but certain things are unacceptable even here. When a thread catches fire and everyone starts losing their minds, the moderators have to put down the drinks and step in. 😁
Look 😳
Regardless of whatever specific forum policies people are clinging to, I have no intention of litigating other users' disciplinary records. I’m going to focus on the situation as a whole rather than dissecting someone else's warnings.
To be perfectly clear: Xena wasn't singled out for a ban just to keep things "even," and frankly, I’m disappointed that some of you could even conceive of that. She was banned because she accumulated enough warnings, just like everyone else who has been removed from this thread.
I will say it again: she hit the limit. Just like everyone else.
I’ll concede that she handled herself quite well and remained remarkably polite despite being picked at from every conceivable angle. But she isn't Jesus; she slipped up a few times too. Being a lone target doesn't grant her immunity, and it would be patently unfair to let her slide simply because she was flying solo.
In short, we aren't going to treat Xena any differently than Lyla, Tick, steelskipper5, or Djepika. That is not on the table.

This thread spiraled out of control several times. When I stepped in the day before yesterday, I asked everyone to slow down and issued warnings where I felt they were necessary. For anything I wasn't entirely certain about, I flagged them for my colleagues to review so we could decide if stricter moderation was required to prevent further chaos.
Apparently, I left the impression that I was just messing around, given that you all carried on yesterday as if nothing had happened. 😁
Yesterday, you all seemed to enjoy the debate far too much; it was such a beautiful mess of people contradicting one another. Some people were even reporting themselves—it was almost as if they were trying to report Jesus himself just for showing up to participate. Honestly. We received more post reports in a single day than we have in the last six months combined.

As a result of the accumulation of warnings from the chaos over the last two days, Lyla, steelskipper5, Djepika, and Tick have been banned. Most people involved have been warned at some point.
I wasn't on the forum yesterday; Izzy was moderating solo, and from what I can see, the warnings were applied correctly. There might be a few I wouldn't have issued personally, but then again, there are others she didn't flag that I certainly would have.
Regarding Xena, her warnings are visible in the thread. Even if we were to retract the one where she tells Morticia Addams to get lost (which, granted, I might not have issued), she would still be banned because she earned three other very legitimate warnings.

And finally—yesterday, this thread should have been locked away for a few hours to let everyone cool off. That is likely how we will handle threads like this moving forward, because I find zero enjoyment in managing a ghost town without its residents.

Austin Harris8 said:[/B]So what kind of criteria does Tupelo & Co. even use to judge people?😕

What criteria?
You’ve picked up eight warnings for trolling on the Chicken Coop forum.
Before those eight warnings, Arthur Kim74 sent you quite a few formal notices and requests to behave.
On top of that, you openly admit within various threads that your primary goal is to troll.
You were the one asking for a partial ban in the first place.
Our inboxes are constantly flooded with reports about your posts and pleas for us to step in and calm you down.

Those are the exact criteria we considered when unanimously deciding on your partial ban.

As far as I’m concerned—you should have been hit with this much sooner. Around the time you started bragging that trolling was your only objective.
But since I don't moderate the Chicken Coop—Arthur Kim74 does, and she's about as aggressive as a unicorn when it comes to handing out penalties—you caught a bit of a break.

There you have it.
Why do the forum elites pretend to be unbiased? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
A few days ago, I posted this warning right here, asking everyone to move any discussions regarding the moderation team over to the PZK.
It’s hard to believe you missed that, considering you were posting on this exact same thread—specifically, two posts after my warning, to be precise 😬.

Ignoring a moderator's warning is a direct violation of the rules.
Furthermore, venting about the mod team in random threads is also against the rules. There is a dedicated space for that on the PZK.
And honestly, given how long you've been around this forum, I'm sure you're well aware of all this.
