There are way better ways to put that money to work. 🤣

Joshua Parker3 said:So, uh, I think this is my first time actually looking into getting some whey to take after my workouts, so I figured I’d come here and ask for some advice. From what I can gather, Twinlab is the gold standard?
I really need something budget-friendly that doesn't sacrifice quality, because let's be honest, I'm pretty broke right now. 😁

Sorry if I sound like a complete newbie regarding all this stuff. 🤣
Raymond Hughes said:I just picked up some Dymatize Elite Whey, so I'm wondering how much I should be taking after a workout? The guys at my gym are telling me to throw in two scoops. Also, how much water am I looking at?
I also saw somewhere that mixing it with glucose is the way to go. I swung by DM, but the clerk told me they haven't had any in stock for a while now. Does anyone know where I can find some, or if there's a decent alternative?
Emily Bennett64 said:Is there anyone here who actually played volleyball back in elementary school? Because honestly, if you didn't, I feel like you missed out on a core part of the childhood experience. Just me? Or am I just an outlier here? 😁 Nothing major really, I used to hit up some aerobics classes back in the day for a bit. But honestly, I'm kind of drawing a blank here—what’s the consensus on Pilates? Is it actually worth the hype? 😁 Alright, look, I’m just gonna open the floor here. Don't be shy—just throw out whatever ideas you think might actually be cool or useful. I'm looking for suggestions on what we could do to make this better, so give me your best shots! 🙂
Alex Long8 said:So, what's the deal with chicken broth? How much protein and carbs are actually in there?
Alex Long8 said:So, I just picked up a tub of Isogainer from Nutrabolics, the 5lb size.
The label says 3 scoops per serving, which totals 179g. This is total nonsense, seriously—at this rate, I’m going to burn through the whole thing in like two and a half weeks...
Is it actually okay to just take 2 scoops as a post-workout shake? I'm calculating that those 2 scoops give me about 40g of protein, which is solid, plus roughly 60g of carbs, which is also plenty...
...and what if I happen to go way too long without eating before a workout? I usually try to be careful and eat about 200g of oats 1-2 hours before training since that's my breakfast, but if life happens and I haven't eaten in ages, would it be alright to knock back one scoop about an hour before the gym and then another scoop as a post-workout shake right after?
I'm already sitting here wondering what's going to happen once I start crushing this gainer. If I could just bump up from my current 175-180 lbs to somewhere in that range within a month or two, I'd be thrilled. Then, to hit that 185-190 lb mark, I'd probably supplement with some high-end protein powder—probably that Weider 80+ stuff, which is honestly expensive as hell. But I think I can swing it because right now I don't have much to spend, so I could set aside some cash for maybe two bags that might last a month. That would be awesome: a fast-acting protein that works great as a post-workout, plus some Casein for that slow release... all while keeping my actual diet on point, obviously.
Oh, and I was thinking about grabbing some BCAAs right now. Which ones are the best value for the money? Since I've got a 20% discount at Weider (I think they have a location over near the mall)
Alex Long8 said:Jonathan Miller7, honestly, you probably would’ve been better off grabbing that Weider stuff with 80+ protein. It’s got four different types of whey plus Casein... so it works as both a meal replacement and a post-workout shake. You went with the Casein, right? I just don't see the point of using that right after training when it takes like 7 hours to absorb, and you need fast-acting protein immediately after hitting the weights. I mean, maybe anything is better than nothing, I guess.
Or maybe that Optimum Nutrition brand you picked up
