[QUOTE=Normall

If someone actually gave an answer like that to their psychiatrist, how would they be assessed—or more importantly, what kind of diagnosis would they get?
Seriously, though, what even is the definition of insanity?
In our day-to-day lives, we don't really walk around throwing around labels like "you're crazy!"
We don't usually harbor those kinds of malicious thoughts; to me, it feels like we just say "I disagree with you" instead!

It’s because they’re abstract concepts—and I don't just mean in American English.
In other languages, you might find a massive variety of words for a single idea, but really, each one is just a different degree of the same thing.
We all understand what it means to love or to adore; we feel every subtle nuance perfectly well. But trying to capture that intensity in writing? That's a different story entirely. Besides, the sheer strength of those emotions isn't uniform from person to person—so, naturally, the meaning shifts for everyone. This isn't some lack of intellect, or heaven forbid, a lack of awareness; if anything, it's just the poverty of our own vocabulary.
As for you personally, I’m afraid you’ve completely missed the humor in the posts above.
Bringing up Forrest Gump isn't exactly the brilliant comparison you think it is.
But hey, if you want to explain to me exactly how the rest of us have failed so "stupidly," by all means... please, enlighten me.
When does life actually begin? in Philosophy ·
Greta? Please. Give me a break. Is anyone actually still buying into that performance? It’s all just theater at this point—the rehearsed outrage, the dramatic stares, the whole "I'm just a kid" routine used to lecture grown adults who actually have to manage global infrastructures. Does she honestly think pointing fingers from a stage makes her an expert on complex economic systems? Not likely. It’s easy to demand radical shifts when you aren't the one balancing the budget or keeping the lights on in a city like Chicago or Houston. It’s pure, unadulterated populism wrapped in a green bow. Honestly, how much longer are we going to pretend this isn't just a calculated branding exercise? kaže:
Life doesn't just start whenever you feel like it—it starts at conception. Period.🙄

The medical community doesn't see eye to eye on this—which is exactly why that ten-week limit exists for when an abortion can be performed.
From a religious standpoint, every single executioner is nothing more than a serial killer—and let’s be honest, the mothers are just as complicit. Why? Because life begins at that very first station.

Well, you have a noun and a verb describing the exact same thing.

I’m no linguistics expert—but isn't love a noun?
To love is the verb.
So, isn't the noun just the state of loving?

Now, grammar isn't really what we're debating here. I suspect the thread starter was actually pointing toward an emotional distinction—something even I don't fully grasp, even though I can certainly tell the difference between the two states in practice.
I mean, I love blueberry muffins, I love my pets, I love a bright sunny day, and so on.
But when I say: "I love my children," that is—emotionally speaking—not the same level at all.
It's a completely different depth.
The same goes for me; I can't say "I love God," even though I can say I love my husband, my friends, or my buddies.
As for the whole chicken and egg debacle, I recently read that it was actually scientifically proven in the States that the chicken came first.
I suppose that brings us back to that old joke:
"Dad, they taught us in school that humans evolved from monkeys!"
"Well son, if that's true, then I certainly didn't!"

Yeah, I’m curious about this too.
Why is it that we say parents "love" their children, yet they "adore" God or their spouse?
Does that imply that adoration is a higher tier of affection than love—or is it actually the other way around?

If you fall in love with someone, does that automatically mean you’ll adore them?
And if you already adore someone, can you ever actually transition into that deeper state of loving them?

I just want some sort of framework—some structure for our relationship.
I don't want to be sitting here five years from now hearing, "You're wonderful, you've been such a great support, but..." only for him to leave me for someone else while I was busy "waiting" for him.
I'm in no rush—not at all. I just need to know if he’s actually worth the wait.

Answering that would require a crystal ball!
No one—and I mean absolutely no one—can tell you if he's worth waiting for except yourself.
At the end of the day, you're the one who has to live with the consequences, not some group of armchair advisors.
Saddam Hussein: Hanging or firing squad? in Philosophy ·

The sentence is death by hanging. Usually, that’s viewed as a dishonorable way to go—reserved for the absolute worst of the worst.
Some people—especially military types—argue that being executed by firing squad is actually a much more honorable way to die.

Let’s assume, for the sake of argument, that Saddam Hussein has indeed committed countless atrocities and deserves the harshest punishment possible.

My question is this:

What does the Iraqi people actually gain from seeing Saddam Hussein hanged?

Or rather, what is truly in the interest of the populace and that broken nation to see the fate of their former leader decided this way?

They get nothing. The dead don't rise, and the pain doesn't just vanish into thin air.
Maybe we should have brought in everyone who survived his tortures—everyone who lost their loved ones—
,locked them in a room with him, and left it up to them to decide if he should be judged or not!
Who knows? Maybe the outcome wouldn't be at all what we expect it to be.
