Superfast! [2015] in Movies ·
It was honestly just a matter of when the writing and directing duo Jason Friedberg & Aaron Seltzer would finally turn their sights toward the massive Fast & Furious franchise. They’ve basically built their entire careers on parodying everything in sight, starting with their take on spy movies featuring Leslie Nielsen, moving through their whole run of dark film spoofs like Epic Movie and Disaster Movie. Given that the Fast & Furious series is already pretty much a parody itself—especially lately—it felt inevitable.

The end result is Superfast! 😁 I don't even need to get into the plot because it's really just a giant mashup of previous Fast & Furious installments, but you definitely have to check out the character spoofing Dom 😁 . Specifically, the way they nail the parody of Hobbs' character is hilarious (that baby milk bit 😬 😬 )

Thoughts on the 2015 Steve Jobs movie? in Movies ·
Drew Sanchez82 said:Maybe, but I really don't see them going head-to-head against this movie.

And why on earth would those two even be competing with each other? 😬 Man, if I had known nobody here actually gets a joke, I wouldn't have bothered posting in the first place. 🤦 😒

Drew Sanchez82 said:I get that he isn't the main focus, but honestly, the poster on Rotten Tomatoes 😁 gave off such bad vibes, and that show description just felt like 😁 a total wannabe.

Drew Sanchez82, I think you're totally misreading the situation. 😬 This show is actually incredible. 😉

You totally misread me there—it’s not actually a series about Steve Jobs. You got the wrong idea. 😬

It’s honestly such a hilarious comedy series about this group of tech nerds trying to launch a startup, but you've got this one guy with the beard constantly pushing to be the lead when he clearly doesn't have a clue how computers actually work. He’s always dropping references to Steve Jobs, which is pretty funny because he basically acts just like him—except if you look closely, he actually combines the worst traits of both Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. 😁

Alexander Howard79 said:Silicon Valley has been running for barely two seasons now, and honestly, it’s got absolutely nothing to do with Steve Jobs.

You clearly have no clue what a joke even looks like, do you, Alexander Howard79? 🤣

They've already started filming a series about "Steve Jobs" called Silicon Valley. 😬

Vacation (2015) in Movies ·
Since it feels like almost every comedy fan out there has sat through at least one movie from the Vacation franchise starring Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo, I’m betting a lot of people were pretty stoked to hear about the fifth installment (or sixth, if you count that 2003 TV movie) hitting theaters on July 29th this year.

Just like the movies before it, this one follows the Griswold family as they head out on a meticulously planned vacation dreamed up by the head of the household. This time around, the film is directed by Franklin's (Chase) grown son, Rusty, who is just trying to give his own family an unforgettable trip, much like his uncle did for him four times over. 😁

Rusty is played by Ed Helms, who most of us know from The Hangover series, and his wife is played by Christina Applegate (basically Al Bundy's "daughter"). We'll get to see Chevy and Beverly again, though they're playing smaller roles this time, and the standout performance will likely come from Chris Hemsworth. Yeah, Thor himself is playing Rusty's brother-in-law. 😁

I noticed they actually threw in a "you know nothing Jon Snow" reference in this movie. 😁

It's three years. Check the RRIF.

Look, guys, if you're all so eager to call out one specific side, at least have the decency to call out the other side too. I think that would actually make things feel a bit more fair than what's happening here.

You get banned for using certain slurs, yet calling the Ukrainian government fascists gets a silent pass from the mods. That’s my take on it. ☕

Exactly. And if you actually call them out by their real names, or try to report their toxic posts, you’re the one who ends up getting penalized while they just keep on spitting venom. 🙄

Ethan Jones98 said:It feels like they’re just ripping off I, Robot and The Machine—but honestly, I guess it doesn't matter too much since there isn't enough sci-fi in it anyway...

And honestly, there’s a bit of Blade Runner vibes in there too.

After wading through all those massive summer blockbusters and even some of those high-brow "art house" flicks, there’s one movie that really slipped under the radar for me. I'm talking about the sci-fi flick Automata, starring Antonio Banderas.

image

In this one, Banderas plays a futuristic insurance agent working for a company that manufactures robots. Things get messy when he uncovers a string of illegal modifications being made to the machines, triggering a chain reaction that could seriously jeopardize the future of humanity.

The film is directed by Gabe Ibáñez, and the cast is actually pretty solid—you've got Birgitta Hjort Sørensen, Melanie Griffith, Dylan McDermott, Robert Forster, and Tim McInnerny joining the Unknown. It's an American-led production, and it's slated to hit theaters this October.

Not a bad movie, though I was a little bummed that Liam didn't just absolutely wreck all those passengers when they jumped him at once. 😬

I honestly went in expecting Cullen Bohannan to have a much bigger role in the story. 😁

At the end of the day, you have to admit it was a solid hit—it pulled in $200 million on a $50 million budget, so I wouldn't be surprised if we see a sequel down the line.

Who knows, maybe they'll go for something more like Nolan's Batman—really dark and gritty—to serve as an intro to the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe. 🤷🤣
