R.I.P.D. (2013) in Movies ·
There’s actually one more, I opened it up back last year, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to just merge them together. 😉
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014) in Movies ·
Two fresh movies.
Taken 2 (2012) in Movies ·
Man, 😬 Liam Neeson is still at it with "Run All Night".

And don't even get me started on Non-Stop. 😁

The new Chris Pine movie set in Russia. 😁

And we've got Kenneth Branagh on board too:

Taken 2 (2012) in Movies ·
Even if there are a few plot holes here and there, the movie is honestly fantastic—it’s got that classic Liam Neeson vibe down perfectly.😁 I'm already looking forward to the third installment.
After Earth (2013) in Movies ·
New poster out:

The Lord of the Rings (1978) in Movies ·
Bakshi's version of The Lord of the Rings is playing on PBS 2. Uruci right now, and they've got this scene where they're attacking Helm's Deep accompanied by some pretty cool singers. XD
After Earth (2013) in Movies ·
The trailers for Oblivion and After Earth have finally dropped, so now we’re just waiting on Elysium to round things out. 😁
End of Watch (2012) in Movies ·
boldnomad45 said:Yeah, it definitely has those vibes, but the movie is solid. Definitely worth a watch.

Since when was Southland bad? 🙂 If you ask me, that show is easily some of the best television being produced right now. 😉

This really gives me Southland vibes.
Who is the deadliest operative? in Movies ·
briskhound2 said:Just thought I'd bump this thread back up since it’s been sitting there gathering dust for a while. 😁 So, I finally sat down and binged Burn Notica, and man, now that I actually know who Michael is—and honestly, he just earned himself a spot on my personal list of the most lethal guys ever—I realized I definitely have to add a new face to that lineup...

John Reese

The guy wears a black suit, has a killer sense of humor, and can take down pretty much anyone in his path. Plus, he’s got that geeky sidekick who knows just as many secrets as he does. Honestly, he’d be a top-tier candidate for the presidency if he weren't more about shooting people in the kneecaps than actually taking lives. 😁

istina, mr. Reese is on another level, especially when he starts laying people out like he’s starring in a Steven Seagal flick. 😬
Enemy Mine (1985) in Movies ·
Andrew Roberts3 said:Did you seriously forget about the "Enemy Mine" episode from season 7 of SG-1...? Seriously?

Man, if only O'Neill could hear you... 😁

Indeed. image
Enemy Mine (1985) in Movies ·
This is such a solid movie, based on the absolute classic Hell in the Pacific starring Lee Marvin and Toshiro Mifune. You also can't overlook how even Enemy (TNG), where Geordi and a Romulan end up stranded on a hostile planet in the Neutral Zone, and Dawn (ENT), featuring Trip and an alien stuck on a similarly brutal world, were basically homages to the film.
William Shatner in Movies ·
If you're rocking an iPhone and want to start cranking out your own "shatizmes," this is definitely the app you need to grab. 😬
Remakes and sequels: how much is too much? in Movies ·
Now that we've finally gotten Star Wars: Ep VII and that new Conan sequel starring Arnie, I honestly think it’s high time they filmed Godfather IV with Andy Garcia playing the aging Don.😁
William Shatner in Movies ·
I’m totally on the same page—his absolute peak was definitely White Komanch. 😬

William Shatner—the captain who was the biggest poser in the Alpha Quadrant before Riker ever showed up. This guy is basically Denny Crane in real life; he’s the kind of legend who, apparently taking a page out of Steve Guttenberg's book, actually edited his own IMDb bio to include "handsome actor" in the very first sentence. 😁 He's a poet, a singer, an author, a screenwriter, an actor, the face of countless bizarre commercials, and the king of wild quotes. To put it in Denny Crane terms: he's a total multi-talented kook for Koko Puffs. 😁

Shatner, who is actually Canadian, was already landing decent film and TV roles back in the '50s, way before Star Trek took off. One standout from that era was his role in the MGM adaptation of The Brothers Karamazov.

But his real big break happened when he landed the lead in the second Star Trek pilot, "Where no man has gone before," after Jeffrey Hunter passed on the main role in Star Trek.

After grinding through three seasons of Star Trek—where he basically introduced the world to the martial art known as Kirk-fu—Shatner hit some pretty rough patches in the following years. After his divorce in the '70s, there was even a period where he was living out of an RV. 😁

Thankfully, a new era of Kirk-fu followed, featuring seven Star Trek films, those classic moments of leaning on the hood in T. J. Hooker, and, of course, providing more true stories on Rescue 911. I'm William Shatner, obviously. 😁

By the '90s, he moved into writing screenplays and books (meaning someone else probably came up with most of the plot and the actual script while Shatner just signed his name to it 😁), and he even produced his own sci-fi series, TekWar. But his real comeback happened when he started playing himself. He did this alongside Denny Crane, first appearing on Justice for All and then sticking around for five seasons of Boston Legal.

Shatner is still going strong today, and he especially loves calling George Takei a psychotic idiot. 😬

As for me, I'm casting my votes for The Original Series, T. J. Hooker, Wrath of KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!, search for Spock (that Klingon son of a bitch, you killed my son!), and, naturally, Boston Legal.
Taken 2 (2012) in Movies ·
Liam Neeson is finally dropping Taken 3. 😁 🙏 🙏

I'm really curious to see if they can actually live up to Taken: Retribution. 🤣
Red Tails (2012) in Movies ·
Just catching up on some chat over at Microsoft with a buddy since the movie finally dropped 😁 :

Red Tails
is honestly such a massive pile of garbage
the acting is straight-up amateur hour
the only thing remotely impressive is the CGI
those aerial shots of the coastline look totally ridiculous
I mean, it's supposed to be World War II
but you can clearly see modern luxury condos in the background😁
just total historical nonsense

------

The second I saw that opening scene with the vampiric German pilot, I knew this was going to be a disaster.
And then the next scene hits:
"Oh no, those fighter pilots left us unprotected."
"Their whole job is to watch our backs, but they bailed, and now we're sitting ducks."
😂
The Lord of the Rings (1978) in Movies ·
Larry Walker24 said:No matter how much anyone claims otherwise, that movie was a total flop because people started saying The Lord of the Rings was just too complicated to adapt. If it actually worked, why wasn't an animated sequel ever even drawn up?

Because the guys over at United Artists are cowards? 🤣

By the way, that attack on the Hornburg in the movie is still absolutely killer, even now. Especially when those orcs start chanting as they charge—it’s all like "Isengard aagaaaa, Isenagaaaaa-rddd, aaaaaaa Mordor, agagaaaa aaaaa Isengard." 😁

Regarding how much the characters look like they do in Peter Jackson's trilogy, I think they nailed Samwise Gamgee. In the cartoon, he's basically a spitting image of Sean Astin. 😬 And Theoden looks just like Max from Bipsic. That scene with him and Grim was a total LOL moment, honestly kind of reminds me of Max and Shek. 😁

And don't even get me started on Gandalf and those manic movements of his. 😂 😁
