Man, I just spotted this one myself. 😢 My apologies to the mods—could you guys please merge this thread with the original one started by briskhound2?
So, we've got a new Mel Gibson flick on the horizon, but unfortunately, it won't be getting a theatrical run in the USA (honestly, what else can you expect from Hollywood studios that clearly have a thing for Roman Polanski). It’s an action-comedy where Mel plays this seasoned criminal who ends up stuck in a Mexican prison, where he strikes up a friendship with a young Mexican kid and his mom.

Just a heads-up, the movie was previously titled How I Spent My Summer Vacation.

Don't even watch this thing, even if someone held a gun to your head!

Alright, fair enough... 😁 Personally, I think Scorpion King 2 and In the Name of the King are actually worse. 😬
The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption in Movies ·
Just finished watching it. Honestly, it’s way worse than the first one, but still miles ahead of the second installment. There’s plenty of laughs, and the guy playing the Scorpion King actually reminds me a lot of The Rock—he even picked up some of his mannerisms and facial expressions. Plus, the special effects don't look super cheap like they did in the second movie.

One obvious downside is the total lack of a diverse cast like we saw in the first film. If I had to pick a standout, though, I’d have to go with Perlman’s performance; her makeup is pretty much on par with Burt Reynolds' look in that Uwe Boll trash flick, In the Name of the King (which, speaking of trash, Boll just shot a sequel starring Dolph Lundgren 😬 ).
The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption in Movies ·
Following the solid original back in 2002 starring Rock, and the budget-heavy second installment (which actually works as a prequel) titled The Scorpion King 2 : rise of a Warrior from 2008—where Randy Couture played the main bad guy—the third chapter has finally landed on DVD and Blu-ray, titled The Scorpion King 3 : Battle for Redemption.

Unlike that second movie, this third entry actually pulls in some heavy hitters for the cast, including Ron Perlman and Billy Zane, plus you've got Temuera Morrison (who you probably know as Jango Fett from SW or Abin Sur from Green Lantern) in the mix.

Here’s the breakdown from the studio's official press release: 😁 :

Quote : The Scorpion King 3 : Battle for Redemption brings The heroic
The Scorpion King 3 : Battle for Redemption brings the heroic, larger-than-life saga of the dethroned king Mathayus to face some of his fiercest demons and most vicious rivals—both real and supernatural—ever. In a dangerous, action-packed battle to regain his glory and reclaim the empire, Mathayus' own journey is steeped in intrigue, sorcery and romance...The film's fight scenes, choreographed by stunt experts Kawee " Seng " Sirikanerut ( Ong Bak : The Thai Warrior ) and Supoj " Jimmy " Khaowwong ( Batman Begins ), are showcased within enchanting ancient palaces, against a backdrop of breathtaking desert vistas. The Scorpion King 3 : Battle for Redemption [ also ] stars Golden globa ® winner Ron Perlman ( Hellboy ii : The Golden Army ) as Horus , The powerful King of Egypt , and Billy Zane

G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2012) in Movies ·
I’ve got a strong feeling that Retaliation is going to blow the previous movie out of the water. It’s a bummer that we won't be seeing Sienna Miller in this one, though. 😁 But hey, on the bright side, we get Adriana Lima instead. 😁
American 2011 in Movies ·
I actually caught American 2011 just yesterday—it’s a solid flick, and Zoe Saldana is pure peace. She was honestly amazing. 😁 If she had put on just a few more pounds, she would have been absolutely perfect. 😁

Saldana really went all in on the action roles lately—first it was Losers, and now it's American 2011.

Who cares about Sylara? Quinto is Spock. 😁

From where I’m sitting—and I mean this quite literally—there was no actual, legitimate conversation taking place here. They failed to identify themselves properly, show any official credentials, or even state their business. That alone is more than enough justification to pull out your phone. Honestly, in certain parts of the country—or frankly, in most developed nations—people wouldn't just reach for a smartphone; they might reach for a shotgun.

Think about it: if someone knocks on your door dressed like a cop—but they have no badge, no hat, no warrant, and they’re just staring at you through sunglasses—what on earth would you do? Would you just... let them in?

This honestly reminds me of that one scene in Wire where Stringer Bell sends Wee Baya and his crew over to pick up Omar's kid from the Greek, all while pretending to be law enforcement. 😁

But seriously, I think we should just pass a law that stops the police from doing those random ID checks for no reason, kind of like how things are handled here.

Honestly, that pretty much sums it up. ☕

Exactly what I'm saying. It’s like that old saying goes: "Don't go poking the bear if you don't want to get bitten."
Anthony Garcia19 said:I think you did love them. Especially when you were a kid. That kind of love is selfless. But once someone starts living off animals in a material sense, they can't really talk about "love" anymore. Sure, you can try to minimize their suffering or make things easier for them, but there’s no true love where exploitation is involved...

I’m not sure who Luka Oman is—maybe an activist for some animal rights group? It doesn't really matter if he's milked a cow or not. The bigger question is how someone can feed an animal every day, take its milk, help it give birth to calves, and then, once it stops producing milk, send it straight to a slaughterhouse...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not judging a farmer who's just doing his job because that's all he knows or how he survives. I get it. I just don't want to hear you call that kind of relationship "love"...

By the way, I have a cat, so I know a thing or two. Though I guess to you, a cat isn't a "real" animal, so I’m probably totally uncultured compared to someone who grew up with cows...

Best, let's just agree to disagree before I lose my cool! 🙂

Look, honey, I've had cats, I've had cows, I've even had goats, and I still remember them all vividly today. If you've got this preconceived notion that us pragmatic folks are just heartless, that's on you, not me.
Anthony Garcia19 said:The term works fine. Animals can be abused, too.

Life is life. It's a miracle of nature or, if you prefer, a miracle from God. We should respect that. This whole human-centered worldview—where animals are seen as less valuable than us, or just tools to serve our needs—is going to ruin everything. Honestly, in our arrogance and greed, most of us don't even see it coming yet.

Look, maybe that guy was wrongly accused of something he didn't mean to do, but brushing off the death of several dogs as "no big deal" is just plain wrong.

Sorry, but your comment on Zekoslavov's post really rubbed me the wrong way. I had to say something, even though I have zero connection to any animal rights groups. And please—there's no such thing as "militant" animal lovers, with or without the quotes. You can't love animals too much! Just like you can't love anyone or anything too much. You just love them.

I’d bet anything you’ve never actually owned a cow, a goat, a dog, a pig, or a chicken. Well, I have, and I can tell you I loved them a hell of a lot more than those "animal lovers" ever could. Honestly, those types don't even love animals; they just hate people. I’m seriously curious if Luke Oman has ever milked a cow, helped with a calving, or even prepared a bale of hay.
Snow White (2012) in Movies ·
Honestly, this movie gives me total flashbacks to that one Italian adult film, especially because of that shot featuring the dwarves. 😬
silvertiger11 said:We simply don't have enough hard facts to determine who the actual aggressor is here.

The article only presents one side of the story.

Are you seriously calling the accidental death of a few dogs "abuse"? You're comparing that to what those radical animal activists—who are basically just haters at this point—actually do.
This is just another textbook example of how inhumane these self-proclaimed animal rights activists can be. Honestly, half of them probably haven't even walked a dog on a leash, let alone handled actual farm work or livestock. They claim they’re "protecting" animals, but they’d happily step over a human being to do it.

Unfortunately, this is just more evidence of how twisted these Western "liberal values" have become. It’s honestly shameful that our local police aren't stepping in to deal with people like this and filing formal criminal charges for their threats and harassment. At this point, we probably need the courts—and maybe a psychiatric evaluation—to get a handle on them.
Mijo lončar, an American who’s been dealing with a massive wave of online harassment on the ASPCA’s Facebook page after five puppies tragically suffocated while he was transporting them to a local shelter, is finally speaking out about what actually happened

The whole mess kicked off nearly a month ago when the secretary of the ASPCA posted on their Facebook page, labeling Lončar an "animal abuser" and a "killer." She went full scorched earth, posting his full name and a photo taken from behind him next to his car—with the license plate clearly visible—all while accusing him of causing the puppies' deaths.

It triggered a total feeding frenzy on Mijo's personal account, with people calling for violence and leaving comments like "hang this monster immediately" or "throw him in a bag and toss him in the ocean"...

"My two kids came home from school in tears because other students were asking if their dad abuses animals. We kept them home for a week just to spare them the embarrassment. Then, some lady actually spat in front of the shop where my wife works during the day, and some stranger even rang our doorbell just to grill the kids about the 'puppies,'" Mijo lončar told the Los Angeles Times.

They suffocated because the bag fell over

He had actually tried to drop those puppies off at the shelter over on Žarkovica twice. The first time, an activist basically told him to come back in the morning because they didn't have room. The second time, he was met with nothing but shouting and insults from the association's secretary. He explained that the carrier bag he used to drive the pups from the city to the shelter tipped over on the zipper side while they were squirming inside, cutting off their air.

"When I opened the bag in front of the secretary, I honestly thought they were just sleeping. I was absolutely devastated when she started screaming that they were dead. Instead of trying CPR or anything to help them, she supposedly rushed to grab her camera, snapped a photo of me, and dumped it all on Facebook," a shaken Lončar said, adding that the half-hour argument with the secretary—who he claims only agreed to take the dogs once he offered a donation—didn't help the situation.

Lončarev's attorney, Vlaho Mujo, confirmed that the toxic comments on the Facebook page only started getting taken down after the Dubrovnik Municipal Court issued a temporary injunction.

No apology coming

"I stand by everything I said! Even I find it hard to believe he intended to suffocate them, but it happened," the association secretary stated. When asked if she would apologize to Mijo lončar, she doubled down, saying she won't budge and sees no reason to say sorry. She also claimed she's facing daily threats from Lončarev's friends.

I caught the first 45 minutes last night, and I’m planning to power through the rest tonight. Overall, it feels like your classic Japanese flick packed with that signature "samurai brawl" 😁, except this time the Japanese are stepping up to save the Americans and the entire planet. 😁 Then you've got that new squadron leader—it's a classic trope where he goes from being a total bum to a complete top gun. 😁 Honestly though, the old captain is just incredible; he’s got that heavy presence, kind of like a mix of Toshiro Mifune and Cmdr. Toshiro Mifune in Matrix style. 😬

As for the rest of the cast, you have to mention the doctor who carries a cat and a bottle of sake everywhere, and the ship's commander, who honestly feels like a mashup of Boris Dvornik and Chief Tyrol. 😬
