stormybadger8 said:Here’s the rule proposal and the poll. Get voting. 🙂

- Old Rulebook (2011) - part 1, part 2
- Manager's proposed rules for 2012

I need everyone playing in the super league this season—or anyone on the reserve list—to cast their vote.
If you have an idea for a rule change, go ahead and vote, but be specific about what actually needs fixing.
If you’re backing someone else's suggestion, vote along with them and just mention in the thread that you agree with their changes.

If you aren't playing this year but still have an idea, feel free to post it or vote, but let's be real: the deciding votes belong to the guys actually playing in the super league this season, since the rules are mainly for them.
I’ve highlighted all the changes from the old rules in blue.

The poll closes in 6 days. We need these rules locked in before the first offer goes out.

Since I’ve been called upon, I’ll step up and weigh in.
Generally speaking, I’m on board with the new regulations, with one glaring exception regarding point 9. Specifically, this part: "but for the competitor who gained a points advantage through such an action, the penalty will be determined by the tournament directors and the F1 subforum moderators via a majority vote."

That clause is problematic. It creates a loophole where someone with absolutely nothing to lose could intentionally sabotage a leader at the top of the standings.

Furthermore, I believe we should scrap the team championships entirely, though moving them down the priority list is at least a step in the right direction.🙏

I tried to be perfectly clear, but let me try one more time: if the 2013 entry list—which, mind you, has been set for a year now—gets adjusted so that team championship results are no longer factored in, then I can be on that list. If not, I have no interest in being there. If people still insist on framing this as an ultimatum, then fine, leave me off the list and let’s just call it a day. 👍

Just wanted to update this thread with my current headspace: I have no intention of playing in the super league this season.

(Though I still maintain that for the sake of the competition's integrity and the benefit of the team champions, those results really ought to be stripped from the entry list. 👍 ☕)

Good luck to everyone planning to play, especially cosmicridge5 and Christian Williams61, since they're easily the most popular members in the league. 😍

So you're saying even the reserves have to make a call?

Well, here’s my quick take: if the constructors' championship standings aren't factored into this (individual) competition, I'm definitely sitting this one out.

I’ve been calling for Massu's dismissal for quite some time now, and my mind is made up. As the days pass, the cost of inaction just keeps growing.
Felipe is a decent guy, but he simply lacks the caliber required for a seat at this level.

With the budget they’re handing to their second driver, Ford could practically sign anyone they wanted. The only ones truly out of reach are the absolute elite tier.
What we still lack is any insight into the specifics of these contracts—what they actually guarantee or what kind of leverage they provide...
We can debate the concept of "damage" all we want, but let’s face facts: Ford isn't even in the conversation for the championship right now, whether you look at the drivers or the constructors. Even if they managed to land two Alonsos, nothing would change; they’d still be stuck in third place, likely finishing fifth and sixth in the standings.

So, this "damage" you're talking about is really just cosmetic. It's an issue of perception that doesn't fundamentally shift the needle for Ford or for Alonso. I mean, when you sign a driver you claim is the best in the world, and then you pay tens of millions to a guy who won you titles but isn't even driving... Ford doesn't really have much room to complain about driver talent. They got exactly what they paid for.

My prediction? By the end of the season, Stefano Domenicali will be out the door. As for Massu, I wouldn't be surprised if he’s still there in 2012. It suits General Motors, given how vital the USA market is to them, and it works for Alonso, who enjoys being the undisputed authority within the garage. The only way Massu leaves is if Ford decides they have a genuine shot at signing a rookie with world champion potential.
I'm certainly no advocate for Massin staying in the top squad, but I can sign off on this assessment without hesitation. 🙏

Miami lived up to my expectations: it was boring enough to drive me absolutely insane. :/
European Championship (Miami) 06.26.2011 in Formula 1 ·
I’m a bit late to the party here, but I wanted to lay out my expectations: I’m anticipating a race so dull it might actually be unwatchable. Honestly, I’m half-tempted to skip the whole thing tomorrow afternoon and just sit under a pine tree somewhere, listening to the crickets and catching the sea breeze instead. 🙏
I’ve never been particularly fond of Miami, but this weekend completely changed my mind: we just secured our first tournament win and our first Super League victory of the season. 🙏 🙂 Even the race itself wasn't the snooze-fest it occasionally tends to be. 🙏

Guys, I honestly don't see the point in going in circles with Jason Campbell70 regarding Maminh’s return. He’s stated his piece, the rest of us have voiced ours, and frankly, Jason Campbell70’s approach suggests that a little cooling-off period might be just what these restless forum users need. The moderators have already agreed to step in and manage Maminh's conduct once he's back, leaving the administrator to simply shrug and say, "Whatever, let it be." 🙏
Gift Giving Season in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I was half-expecting Jason Campbell70 to show up since so many other subforum regulars have already made an appearance, but I was secretly hoping he might actually offer something constructive. It’s easy to see why he’d struggle to support Mamin on a personal level; their long-standing feud has basically defined the drama on this board for ages. However, I’d argue that Jason Campbell70’s own history actually supports the idea of Mamin’s return. After his lengthy ban, he was given a second chance and came back to Formula 1 as a much more disciplined contributor. He hasn't caused a single headache since. That’s the logic the rest of us are leaning on—that we could see the same evolution here. 🙏
Gift Giving Season in Feedback & Suggestions ·
December is a unique month across the entire Western world. It marks the closing chapter of the year, a season of anticipation for the holidays, and a time when any surplus funds are typically funneled toward our loved ones. Of course, one could argue this has strayed far from its original spiritual roots; the commercialization is staggering, turning what should be a meaningful season into a massive corporate machine. According to various studies, Americans—and we can debate the nuances, but they have essentially defined the modern developed world for over a century—tend to spend anywhere from 20% to 25% of their total annual income during December.

We aren't Americans, and I think we can all agree that things have become somewhat distorted. Gifting should ideally be about affection and presence, rather than just grabbing items from a shopping mall. Instead of buying a partner an aromatherapy lamp or a pair of earrings, perhaps a long walk through a local park followed by a deep conversation would be more meaningful? Or even writing a poem? Perhaps we should focus more on seeking forgiveness and showing goodwill—true gestures of love and new beginnings—rather than just handing over physical objects.

With that in mind, I would like to request a gesture of goodwill from you, Mr. moderator and administrator, on behalf of a small group of loyal users within the Formula 1 subforum. Please, unban Mamin. We miss him.

Naturally, the reasons why you shouldn't do this are immediately obvious. To preempt the inevitable pushback from the contrarians—mostly those lurking in the football subforum—I’ll state it plainly: Mamin has racked up a record number of warnings and bans, both under his own name and via his various clones, which also hold record numbers.

Is there any actual reason to reconsider, though? Well, yes. First, we are requesting this reinstatement specifically and exclusively for the Formula 1 subforum—the place where he is wanted and where his absence is actually felt, rather than in areas where he caused friction. Second, quite sincerely, the vast majority of our subforum community truly wants him back. This isn't just because he didn't cause trouble here, or because we believe he has matured significantly since his "troublemaker" phase (he seems to have finally moved past his rebellious adolescence); it's because he is a constructive and passionate member of the Formula 1 enthusiast community. Third, since the Formula 1 subforum recently gained another moderator, the ability to monitor activity and quickly address any potential issues is doubled—though I don't expect such issues to arise, which is why I am writing this in the first place.

The fourth and final reason is simple: this is the season of giving, and one should give to those who are known for their goodwill and affection.

Sincerely yours,

Joshua Newman2

Most other branches of auto racing already have their own dedicated spots within the automotive subforums.
While I can see the logic behind having a combined auto racing section, I fail to see any reason to suggest dismantling a perfectly functional Formula 1 subforum. 🤷

If fans of other types of motorcycle racing want to branch off and establish their own independent space, you'll have my support. But please, let's not force Formula 1 enthusiasts into some arbitrary integration just for the sake of it; this community works perfectly well exactly as it is. 🙏

So, who actually posted this? I’m calling on the TBFD to step up and name names!
Brazil vs. USA - Nov 7, 2010 in Formula 1 ·
Here we go again... 🤦 🙈

TBFD, come on, man. Just man up and admit you’re actually Helmut Marko masquerading as some random F1 fan from a small town in Ohio. Maybe that'll motivate Joža to finally admit he's actually Goran Dijaković. 🙏

I didn't jump in earlier to comment on Pangloss's take on the debate, but I will now. As far as I'm concerned, he's spot on: when two drivers have an equal shot at the title, there's no reason one should just step aside for the other. Team orders should only kick in when the internal rivalry loses its purpose—like when one driver is clearly the weaker link and is actively jeopardizing the collective goal. As for TBFD, you're off base; he isn't a Red Bull fan, because he certainly isn't looking at this through a team lens. He's a Sebastian Vettel fan, and he's viewing everything through Vettel's eyes. If he were actually rooting for the team, he would have argued that Vettel should have yielded to Webber in Brazil to maximize the team's championship chances without hurting his own position. (Because right now, he needs Alonso's 5th place finish, whereas if he had played ball, he'd be aiming for 9th, which is arguably more realistic. Alonso is in incredible form, so he'll likely either grab a podium or end up outside the points entirely if his engine gives out.)

Anyway, guys, I think we should move this discussion to a new topic. Both Brazil and Turkey are already in the rearview mirror.

stormybadger8 said:Look, where's the actual debate here? There’s no point arguing about it—Vettel caused that collision by jerking the steering wheel. It’s that simple.😉

stormybadger8 said:I’d say there's still a fair amount of debate regarding who actually bears the blame for that collision.

stormybadger8 said:In Turkey, Webber actually snatched a clear victory away from Vettel, rather than the other way around. ☕

Like I’ve argued before, the only real grievance people have with Webber is that he actually turned out to be a better driver than anyone gave him credit for. He refused to play the part of the dutiful subordinate to his favored teammate, even when he had the championship points cushion and was leading the race.

Case closed. I rest my case. 🙏

@silvercobra68 - I apologize if I’m letting you down here, but my disagreement with TBFD isn't some clash of personalities. I have no intention of resorting to insults, personal attacks, or any kind of low-blow tactics. 😁

There was a time when Schumacher was something else entirely. Honestly, damn him, he wouldn't let a single shred of his reputation slip through his fingers. faster Vettel It isn’t even about being a teammate to someone like Nico Rosberg; the real issue lies with Webber. For the next several months, he just keeps complaining, arguing that the faster driver should yield on track to let the slower one through. It’s ridiculous. He’s only throwing these tantrums because he’s bitter about losing that massive 25-point lead to his own teammate.

Look, let’s be real about what happened in Turkey. Webber shouldn't have backed off like that. Instead of slowing down and essentially forcing Vettel into the grass, all he really had to do was leave enough room for an overtake. If he’d just held his line and given him the space, the whole thing would have been over right then and there. Simple as that.

Lewis Hamilton didn't just stumble into that win; he was handed it on a silver platter by McLaren's pit strategy and a remarkably composed Jenson Button. It certainly wasn't thanks to Mark Webber or Sebastian Vettel. Honestly, what exactly were you watching during the Turkey race? 😬

And now, if I remind you that the vast majority of the experts—and most Formula 1 fans for that matter—believe Vettel was the one who caused that collision, you’ll probably just accuse me of trolling and threaten to report my post. Go ahead and report it if you want, but that won't change the fact that it doesn't make Webber responsible for what happened in Turkey.
Brazil vs. USA - Nov 7, 2010 in Formula 1 ·
Look, Pato, tell me one thing: what exactly is the beef with Webber?

From where I’m sitting, he’s just a damn solid driver who leaves everything out on the track to get the best result possible. He isn't Alonso, someone who would just park his car at the pit exit to block a teammate. And he isn't Barrichello, someone who bows to authority only to spend the next six years playing the victim every chance he gets...

Sure, he’s frustrated because he thinks the team isn't treating him fairly. Does that mean they should fire him? Maybe. If they know he's lying, then let them cut him loose.

If Webber actually manages to clinch a championship, do you think people on this forum will still be tearing him down? Absolutely. Why? 🤷 I haven't the slightest clue. Just like I don't understand why he's being picked apart all season—not because he lacks talent, but because he dares to be better than logic suggests he should be.
Brazil vs. USA - Nov 7, 2010 in Formula 1 ·
I truly believe Mark Webber’s only "crime" here is that he refuses to play the role of the loyal sidekick just because he's neck-and-neck in the standings with the designated number one. 👍

Should Red Bull fire him just for complaining? That’s their call if they want to deal with it. For years, teams like Ferrari and Renault have paired a top-tier driver with a secondary one just to prevent internal warfare. But if his contract doesn't mandate it, and he isn't willing to comply, I don't see why we should expect him to act as Sebastian Vettel's shadow. Is this simply a case of Red Bull miscalculating, only to find out by accident that Mark Webber is far too good? 🤷 Fine, nobody is disputing that Vettel has more raw talent. And nobody is denying that Vettel's car has been plagued by reliability issues for two years straight. However, the champion is the one who scores the most points, not necessarily the one with the most potential. Look at Kimi Räikkönen in that glass-cannon McLaren. And while we're talking about Kimi, think back to 2008, when Felipe Massa managed his car significantly better despite having arguably less talent. Under the logic people are using now, shouldn't Massa have ignored the fact that he held more points than Kimi for most of the season and just felt grateful to Ferrari for giving him a car that exceeded his abilities? Should he have played second fiddle to Kimi out of pure gratitude just because Kimi was the "talented" one with fewer points? Give me a break... 🤦

Last year, there were thousands of posts dragging Jenson Button, claiming he was just a mediocre driver riding a superior machine and only winning because of it. People conveniently ignored the fact that this is Formula 1, not boxing; a driver and a car are a single package where neither component functions effectively in isolation.

This year, however, the criticism is aimed at Webber, suggesting he's an average driver in a dominant car who has the audacity to contend for the title even though he's sitting ahead of a brilliant young driver in that very same car. (Should he be ashamed of having the honor of driving a championship-winning car just because he happens to have more points than his more talented teammate?) On top of that, people argue Vettel would be leading if his car hadn't broken down. That's a non-sequitur. He probably would be, but he isn't. The reality on the track remains unchanged: Webber is ahead of Vettel. Is it his fault Vettel’s car keeps failing? Should he suppress his competitive edge and tuck his tail between his legs just to ease some collective guilt because his own car is more reliable?
I'll say it again: give me a break. 🤦
Brazil vs. USA - Nov 7, 2010 in Formula 1 ·
I’ve been chewing on something that might seem obvious in hindsight, but I haven't truly weighed it as a real possibility until now. There are two primary variables keeping the title contenders up at night:

- Fernando is running on an engine with questionable durability (this will be his fifth race on this power unit, right?) and it wouldn't be a shock if it just gives up the ghost. If that happens, Red Bull holds all the cards because they essentially have fate on their side.

- On the flip side, Red Bull is currently embroiled in an internal team war. Despite everyone's public denials, it wouldn't be out of the question to see a collision reminiscent of what happened in Abu Dhabi. In that scenario, Fernando takes the upper hand, as he can drive with total composure without worrying about whether his engine is going to blow.

But what if both scenarios play out simultaneously? Then Lewis Hamilton could legitimately clinch the championship, and it wouldn't just be a matter of math.

God forbid we all actually agreed with one another and that everything we wrote turned out to be the absolute truth by the end of every race. That would be incredibly boring.😂
