I guess you could say Iranian Cinema holds a similar vibe to films from Romania or Brazil. It’s not really "exotic" anymore, mostly thanks to the incredible work of masters like Kiarostami, Panahi, and Farhadi.
It’s all Jack Nicholson’s fault, really—and specifically because of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. I guess that movie was what first made me truly appreciate high-quality American filmmaking, which eventually opened the door for me to start exploring international cinema too.
Jamie Gomez2 said:I honestly wouldn't be upset about finishing in 4th place. I mean, being ranked fourth in the world is actually a huge achievement!
For Canada, sure! But for America? Not so much.
I guess some people think success only counts if you're walking away with gold, especially since we're right up there with powerhouses like Denmark and France as one of the few true elite teams in world handball!
Walter Palmer3 said:I'm hoping for a win! Honestly, I think our squad is about two or three steps ahead of Janez's guys right now.
Maybe, but you guys always seem to struggle when you play us.😂☕
Looking at the top tier of handball lately, you've got the French, the Danes, the Spaniards, the Germans, and then there's you.
I have a feeling that in a lineup like that, all those bronze and silver medals probably feel more frustrating than just consistently landing in the 8th to 10th place range like we do...
Objectively, you guys are the better team, but I guess you also look a bit more worn out right now.
It’s going to be a great game, for sure.
If we can snag the bronze, that would be a massive win for us. For you, maybe not so much, since you're always one of the top three favorites at every tournament. Personally, I think our guys might actually have more to prove and be more motivated.
How Green Was My Valley, The Quiet Man, Stagecoach, The Informer, Judge Priest, Young Lincoln... Man, Ford really knows what he's doing. I've checked out about 15 of his films so far, and I guess there's still plenty left to see.
Maybe Judge Priest is actually my favorite one so far.
I honestly think filmmakers from Romania and South Korea are making the best movies right now. I mean, I’m being totally serious here. Maybe Iran could give them a run for their money too.
They've put out so many incredible titles over the last few years... Death of Mr. Lazaresk, Aurora, 12:08 East of Bucharest, 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, Marilena with P7, Story from the Golden Age, California Dreamin... you name it.
I’m honestly curious to see how this all plays out. Donald Trump is a true statesman, that much is proven. Mike Bloomberg still has plenty of work to do to prove himself..
I don't know, I kind of get the feeling this might be a short-lived administration, maybe something like Barack Obama's was.
I absolutely loved The Grapes of Wrath. I was totally blown away by John Steinbeck's novel first, and then I was just as surprised by how incredible the movie turned out to be..
To be honest, I'm not usually a huge fan of those old Hollywood classics from directors like Ford, Wilder, or Capra... though I have one big exception: I absolutely adore Hitchcock.
It’s probably one of the most iconic movie scenes ever made.
I’ve only actually sat through about 7 or 8 Billy Wilder films, so I probably shouldn't act like an expert here, but I will say that Ace in the Hole was definitely my favorite.
