And why on earth should we let The Hague ruling dictate how we celebrate?
It feels wrong. Someone else shouldn't be the one deciding if our American Civil War—and Operation Desert Storm—was legitimate and just.
Why was this thread locked twice? - Politics in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I have an answer to that first question.

The reason is that right when this thread was started, everything happening within the intelligence community became relevant, tying directly into the ongoing debate about security agencies we've been having for two years now.
Personally, I’m not thrilled with the title, but the subject matter is certainly timely.

There are already threads covering Karamarko and Ostojić on the PDF. Given the current political scene and the discussions regarding Zoran Milanović's administration on the front page, I suspect adding yet another similar thread would just dilute the conversation even further.

That said, I get where you were coming from with your topic. Feel free to shoot me a DM if you want to bounce some ideas around; it’s definitely worth discussing over on the Politics board. No hard feelings.

As for your second question, you'll have to wait for my colleague.

My post count has been stuck at 4 since I joined. I've definitely written at least 15 or 20 by now.
Is this some kind of glitch, or just how it works? Like, does it only update every few days?
Best,

Out of 14 total, you have 9 posts in the general section. You're posting near the politics forum, where those don't count toward the total.

Amanda Hughes37 said:Did I get this right? If someone accuses another person of trolling during a conversation, do you just hand out a red card? It seems like we aren't really in a position to define what counts as trolling, especially since that could change depending on the topic.

Another question... what exactly constitutes a red card? How many points until I'm facing a ban?🤷

Context matters, obviously. But ultimately, it’s up to the moderators to decide what counts as trolling, which makes calling someone out for it a bit of a gray area.

Points have their own value and an expiration date. Once you hit 100 active points, you get three days of vacation.

It would be a real favor if things were just Canadian.😬

Well, judging by what some Canadians are writing, they aren't particularly fond of being forced into religious labels.

Context matters more than the specific terms used. One should be careful with that.

Are you thinking of this one? That stubborn old Dobrica.

Well, this one was deleted because it doesn't belong in a PDF. Politics—and those kinds of topics usually just end up inviting trolls and insults.

We should be careful, and we will continue to be, but perhaps there’s a time to let things slide if it means allowing for some quality discussion on more specific topics.

Linda Price5 said:And why shouldn't I? I suppose if they just granted me unlimited editing privileges and promised the mods would leave me alone, then whenever someone on the PŽK complained about me, I could simply delete my own posts and call it a day.

It’s a joke. A red card for some harmless trolling, yet absolutely nothing for a moderator (!!) suggesting we lay hands on sick children—and I highly doubt any "virtuous" moderator actually understands what ADHD is, likely assuming it's just a synonym for being difficult. Since the moderator was sweet enough to scrub the evidence, his own preserved post remains unpunished, even though he went out of his way to delete everyone else's.

It’s revolting.

I considered staying silent on this thread entirely, given that I’ve been branded an abuser and a promoter of violence—quite unfairly, I might add, though my motives for speaking up remain a bit murky to myself. Still, some things require pointing out.

My post has been saved, and here it is in full:

Raising kids isn't some trivial task that just happens on its own. It’s serious work that requires actual commitment—there’s no magic trick to it. You might walk through the door at 8 PM feeling completely drained, but you still have to carve out quality time for your little ones. In this day and age, you really need support from the school system, though unfortunately, most daycare centers and schools have shifted from holistic development to just basic academics, and even then, the quality is questionable.
Six-kilo backpacks, smartphones, and all those other digital distractions. Honestly, students should show up with as few books as possible and just leave their phones and gadgets in a locker until the school day is over.
The hyperactive mess they've become is entirely on the parents. One wrong move or one little tantrum, and you see exactly how much "discipline" they think is necessary.

So, that’s the actual post, not just the bits you decided to pull from it.

After a post or two on this thread, you wrote the following:

I don't exactly subscribe to the idea that every instance of physical discipline qualifies as abuse. Neither do I.

So, you don't believe that any form of physical punishment constitutes abuse either? Or perhaps I’ve misunderstood something.

If you don't consider any form of physical punishment to be abuse, then where exactly is my crime in posting this? I didn't even bother addressing the context of the original thread or the discussion itself: If you tell me which specific rule was broken, I might actually be able to figure out what kind of disciplinary action we're looking at.

We essentially expressed the exact same sentiment, just using different words.

I would like to offer my sincere apologies. hollowmoose77 Any mothers here raising kids with ADHD? Or anyone else dealing with similar diagnoses who has felt insulted or targeted? It was never anyone's intention—certainly not mine. After all, she admitted herself that she lost her cool and struck her child a few times; it’s hardly fair to label her an abuser or someone promoting violence.

I can see how a blunt comment on MK might sting occasionally, but I think overreacting to it is a bit much.

To wrap things up: some posts were edited and others were removed. This wasn't about me or any other MK moderator abusing our power. It was simply a matter of keeping this thread clean, as requested. The topic is now sterilized.

Linda Price5 said:I just want to point out that I was slapped with a 45-point penalty simply because I called Charles Fox10 unintelligent. It’s been 24 hours and he still can't grasp the distinction between general aggression and actual abuse. Meanwhile, Charles Fox10—who actually suggested that slapping children is a valid way to prevent them from developing ADHD—didn't receive a single warning. Why? Because the administrator refuses to issue penalties to moderators who violate the rules, just as she refuses to penalize other users who broke sub-forum guidelines. They managed to dodge accountability by editing their posts instead of just deleting them, effectively hiding the evidence from the admins. Apparently, they weren't aware that moderators aren't supposed to edit posts in the first place. Honestly, am I going to get another penalty if I say it again? 😁

Just scrap the moderator positions at unknown entirely and be done with it. 😁

This is getting quite malicious.

Decide for yourselves if this much noise is actually necessary or just a distraction. I’m bringing up the discussion from Psychology here.

If you have a moment, skim the last three pages. It should give you plenty to chew on. If you're feeling particularly curious, check out the Survey—it shows 33% of users support some form of disciplinary action for kids. Since the survey is public, we even know who's who.

The thread is over 30 pages long, about a year and a half old, and still going.

Did some people miss it? Even those participating here who had something to say, yet were pointed toward the original thread right now.

Given the interest, I expect similarly spirited comments on both the MK thread and the one on Psychology.

This is the third consecutive post where you've insulted me by labeling me a "child abuser." It’s neither polite nor accurate.

Or perhaps you've just clumsily misspoken for the third time.

Try reading this thread from the beginning. You'll see the core issue here is hyperactivity in certain children. Many users argue—without any medical backing—that this behavior stems from poor parenting rather than any advocacy for physical punishment or child abuse.

Linda Price5 said:Under American Family Law, any form of "disciplinary" physical striking against children is strictly prohibited, and according to IMF standards, inciting or even justifying actions that break the law is just as forbidden.

I’d argue that terms like "frnjokula" or "pešćurina" function as types of strikes themselves.

I didn't label you a child abuser; I simply pointed out that you are encouraging physical punishment that is illegal under our laws.

Oh, absolutely. And now you’ve gone ahead and branded me an enabler of child abuse.

To which Charles Fox10 replied that it pretty much does apply.

Yes, the very same individual who was just advocating for being absolute losers.

Just saying.

Advocating for pedophiles??? Maybe try actually reading the whole discussion before you go labeling someone—even in your head—as a child abuser.

Nowhere in this thread does anyone support any kind of physical abuse against children. A little reading comprehension wouldn't hurt.
wiredraven82 said:I started a new thread today in the "Politics" section titled: "Is Israel—a nation once victimized by genocide—now committing genocide against another people?"

In my opening post, I stuck strictly to the facts regarding the State of Israel and its current conduct toward Palestinians. I didn't resort to any personal attacks—unless, of course, you consider comparing the current Israeli regime to an apartheid system to be an insult. That was my only comparison. So, I’m asking for an explanation here: why was this flagged? And what is the real reason for pulling this thread, other than the fact that discussing Jews and Israel remains a massive taboo?

And this specific thread is already archived in the PDF. You missed it back in 2008, so you really had to start a brand new one???
