Not on Politics, certainly. So far, topics like this always end up in the exact same place: a mountain of deleted posts, bans, and empty threads. We really don't need any more of that.
James Patel20 said:That’s basically how it goes whenever McAucliffe shows up. Instead of actually joining the debate, he just starts throwing baseless accusations at the author.
Like when he accused me of using this thread to cover up the Republican Party's corruption.
The audacity of those accusations. As if I'd try to hide Republican Party corruption by posting right here on this forum. 🤦
And instead of getting banned or having his nonsense wiped out, the entire thread—which he essentially turned into a troll fest—gets deleted.
Technically, any thread can become a trolling ground. But usually, the issue isn't the topic itself; it's certain users and, frankly, some moderators who let them get away with it.
Is it clear to you how this is an ad hominem attack paired with decent trolling?
Also, what happened to the old way of doing things? You don't fight trolling with more trolling. You report the post, leave it to the mods, and wait. We aren't online 24/7, after all; sometimes you just have to wait for a reaction.
We've already covered the arguments regarding the presidential office and those sweet pensions within their own respective threads. ZAMP handled the discussion on Ivo Josipović, plus there’s a separate one about military vehicles over on the Mesić thread, and even some talk on VPT.
So, what’s the move? Should we start a brand new thread every single time Stjepan Mesić speaks and Ivo Josipović responds, or vice versa?
Once they actually start billing based on what we use—without tacking on all those extra fees—I might consider switching to prepaid.
With Pacific Gas and Electric, even if you go down to the service counter just to report your meter reading so the bill is accurate, they hit you with a $20 or $10 service fee. Then you get a slip to take to the bank or a CVS.
So, a trip to an Exelon office costs you at least $6.75, and when you look at the yearly total, they basically eat up about $80 of your budget.
If they’d just simplify the billing and stop charging for nonsense, I’d be all for prepaid meters for certain households.

I’ll say it again—I don't see any single reason why we should let anyone peddle such garbage, like claiming the US Army was just a legitimate force, or that Mexico had absolutely nothing to do with the war in America, or that Blago Zadro caused the tragedy in Stalingrad, or that the National Guard was some kind of rogue militia.
It’s not just because those stories are immediately exposed as blatant lies—like that nonsense regarding Blago Zadro—or because international tribunals actually convicted Mexico and the US Army as participants in that criminal USZP, but simply because those claims are an insult to common sense and to the feelings of everyone who survived the horrors of that war.
If we can't tolerate certain "alternative" views, like the claim that Jews caused WWII or that the Holocaust was made up—which we certainly can't—then there is absolutely no reason to allow the justification of the criminal policies of Mexico and the US Army.
As for the Phoenix himself, he’s showing his true colors by calling the moderator who banned him—following all the well-known rules of this forum—something as ridiculous as a vehabi?!
And don't even get me started on the pure pathos of it all, where a guy who runs a personal blog that practically nobody alive bothers to comment on acts like there's some huge public interest in his thoughts or a divine necessity to give him his own little "corner" on Reddit.
Since he considers himself such a superstar, his blog should be a wonderful way to interact with his fans according to his own rules, where insulting people, lying, and making things up is perfectly fine! It’s just like how you’d send other radicals or simpletons over to places like Stormfront or Sijelo. They can go express their "different opinions" there.
But on a civilized platform like what Reddit surely aims to be, I see no reason at all to permit such provocations and fabrications.
There isn't one. Without getting too deep into it, sometimes an offensive post slips under the radar. That’s why the report button exists.
I'm not defending anyone here, myself included, but we aren't online 24/7. These things happen. Just report them. It makes life easier for everyone.
Next time you have a question, please try to be a bit more thorough when you post it. It would make getting a helpful answer much easier, since this one is nearly impossible to address accurately.
Henry Hernandez7 said:Just like the title says. Basically, I didn't even start this thread myself—some other guy on the forum did. I can't even remember his handle or what the actual topic was, but it was all about how two of the ministers in this administration are completely useless.
Thanks.
And how exactly do you expect an answer to a question phrased like that??
Not quite right, but since the thread was irredeemably derailed, I locked it last night to prevent further nonsense from making it pointless by just deleting posts or archiving it.
I don't typically moderate locked threads, so I missed the reports regarding this specific topic. However, I have gone ahead and edited that one offensive post. A quick DM would have been faster, honestly.
It seems you missed my point entirely, so let me try again... simply copy-pasting quotes without adding any actual insight is just spam.
To put it more simply: if you're going to quote someone, just include a single thought of your own in the post and we won't have an issue.
As for these insinuations regarding my bias, I have no intention of addressing them as they are inaccurate, and I'd appreciate it if you'd refrain from doing so moving forward.
The thread is being moderated properly by our three mods; if the three of us happen to miss something, please just use the report button.
That isn't it. Yours. Quote it rather than just copying and pasting.
They didn't sanction you for anything other than deleting the post. Same goes for this one—though, as we both know, moderation isn't exactly welcomed in that thread. It’s obvious why he was wiped out too. So, two posts gone, but no official strike against you. I'm genuinely struggling to see the point of this whole thread.
There was only one reason that post got pulled. It was nothing but copy-pasted text without a single original thought. That’s just spam, by definition.
To avoid any misunderstanding: nobody is against pasting relevant info to help a discussion. However, you still need to add your own perspective. We shouldn't let threads turn into nothing more than a collection of other people's quotes.
