redhawk76 said:The topic title is Investigative journalism, not Matija Babić. Therefore, this thread wasn't opened just to take shots at him, nor was the opening post about him, nor were the subsequent posts... Matija Babić is only mentioned later on. It’s hardly unusual for a thread to evolve so that several following posts focus on a specific individual or phenomenon that falls under the general subject matter...
A rather unsatisfying explanation, but "the administration is the administration..." ☕
So he's off-limits on every other thread then?!? 🙄 Never heard that used as a justification before. The actual practice on this forum completely contradicts that logic.
Technically, Investigative journalism had a few scattered entries, but once the thread regarding the violation of Ivo Sanader's family rights opened and that journalist was being discussed there, this closed thread suddenly started focusing on the exact same issue at the same time. Is one of them spammy trolling, or are they both?? One got locked, the other stayed open, and nothing much changed.
Generally, moderators don't change titles unless it's minor stuff—like changing "Protest organized in San Francisco" to "Protest organized in San Francisco." Since we all know some of these complaints have merit, we'll try to reorganize things soon and see how it goes.

The thread keeps bringing up M. Babić, mostly to drag him, but... The comments aren't even particularly sharp or rude. Aside from all the other negative comments and targeted criticisms aimed at specific people on this forum—politicians, journalists, public figures... They aren't doing anything out of the ordinary here. It’s just the standard way people vent their frustrations about public figures.
What's all this sudden commotion about? Settling some old scores. With an investigative journalist.!?! 🙄
What exactly is the metric used here? How are ten thousand existing negative—and frankly, quite vitriolic—comments directed at specific public figures considered perfectly acceptable ways to express an opinion, yet somehow less so when they target Matija Babić? Suddenly everything becomes an issue. An "unpersonal attack," apparently. Now I’m expecting a moderator warning.
My apologies. This isn't about objective moderation. It’s just typical... Censorship.Poorly explained. (I assume—motivated.) The moderator's personal connections. Regarding the controversial figure. I can't think of any other explanation for why they'd act that way.🤷 Aside from whatever decision the forum makes regarding standing together to "protect" our colleagues and founders on other sites...🤔)
I have no personal connection to that journalist, nor have I received any instructions regarding his protection. Just want to avoid any confusion.
The thread is closed, specifically for the reasons I laid out in my last post. Look, you don't have to agree with that journalist, but starting a whole new discussion just to tear him down isn't right—especially given the pile of rather uncivil posts already cluttering up that other active thread.
And just which of his little pieces of political investigative journalism actually earned him a spot in this PDF?
Look, let's not go around labeling people from California, Split, Šibenik, or Zadar as being more or less responsible for this mess... it just doesn't make sense anymore, and frankly, it's a bit insulting.
It’s all the same regardless. Whether we think we're in a better or worse spot than other regions is irrelevant; we're all essentially in the same boat. And I think we can all agree that things aren't great for anyone right now. It's going to take serious time, effort, and hard work if we ever want to climb out of this hole we've dug for ourselves—a situation made all the "better" by the officials at every level of government.
I caught a glimpse of that announcement on the Corporation page, and honestly, it was nothing special. All this talk about political factions—leftists, ultra-nationalists, whatever they're calling themselves these days—is just noise. It’s obvious to anyone watching that people care about jobs and paychecks. It's also painfully clear that so many industrial jobs across California have just vanished into thin air, and even the shipyards aren't doing much better. Now, what to do? That's the real question, and from what I can see, nobody has an answer. Slogans won't fix anything here. And acting like California is the only one struggling is a mistake; the entire country is facing this, and if we want to fix the local situation, we have to start from square one at the national level.
When, and by what exact process, did a moderator of this politics sub ever actually ban someone from starting a high-quality thread about anything within the scope of our politics section?
If you want to start a well-researched discussion regarding an American conglomerate based in Chicago, feel free.
Look, this is Reddit, or more simply, an American forum. It’s entirely possible for someone here to have no clue about the geography or common names used in certain parts of Mexico, whereas everyone knows exactly what Dalmatia is and where it sits.
Anyway, let's avoid the bickering. You're free to discuss language, politics, and the like in the appropriate subreddits. As the thread starter, you have the responsibility—or rather, the duty—to steer the conversation through your replies.
And just so there's no confusion, I won't be reopening this locked thread.
You started this thread in a pretty strange way, trying to pick up where you left off in a discussion about linguistics on another PDF with Emericzy and Sarah Garcia46.
It’s definitely odd, but it doesn't matter; we aren't even talking about language anymore. J Instead, you launched into a History Hour session packed with references to Auschwitz, the Memorandum, the American Civil War, Puniša račić, Stjepan Radić, and so on. The deciding factor in why this thread was locked, however, was this specific part of your sentence:
....................like the Mexicans in the Frontier or Central California, as you call it......
We don't rename Dalmatia; it has always been Dalmatia. Some others have tried to label our Dalmatia as the Frontier, and frankly, comments like that won't be received well in discussions like this.
You are, of course, still free to post on this Forum, provided you respect the Rules.
jadeseal4 said:Everything is clear. But frankly, it's shameful.☕ Take Charles Fox10, for instance—he shut down the thread regarding the Rehabilitation of Draža Mihailović, and it remains closed to this day. Then there's the thread on the Sana Memorandum, which stays locked too.
It'll stay locked. Let them handle his rehabilitation somewhere else.
jadeseal4 said:You mean after a few days have passed. A lovely response—crystal clear for both of us. There’s no reciprocity on your end, just "democracy" when it suits you.
Not at all; I meant exactly what I wrote. Renaming the thread after a few days is a separate matter entirely.
Just so you know, no moderator on any forum is online 24/7, including us. Some moderation decisions simply take a little time to process.
And yet you claim there's no democracy and that we're biased and subjective. Here are four out of our six Politics moderators responding with explanations in short order, though apparently, none of it satisfies you.
jadeseal4 said:The thread about CBS was originally titled "Republican Party's CBS," but the title has since been changed. Why? Who did it? Any explanation? What happened to democracy??
I updated the title for a simple reason: after a few posts, that heading lost its relevance. Since the discussion covers both political sides, the original title became biased.
If you're wondering why your thread about CBS was closed, the answer is in the explanation above.
My mistake was being too pushy about it. Originally, I intended to set a limit of five points over five days just to manage the frequency of moderator warnings.
We try to stay on top of things, but sometimes it’s just an impossible task. Over 1,000 posts have flooded this thread since yesterday evening, and unless you have nerves of steel and superhuman reading speed, things inevitably slip through the cracks. Thankfully, the reporting tool helps us catch what we miss at first glance.
